The Freed Slave Girl, The Precious Stones and The Kite

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy.

Aa’isha [may Allaah be pleased with her] narrated: There was a black slave girl belonging to an Arab tribe and they freed her but she remained with them. The slave girl said, “Once one of their girls (of that tribe) came out wearing a red leather scarf decorated with precious stones. It fell from her or she placed it somewhere. A kite (i.e. a medium to alarge long-winged bird of prey) passed by that place, saw it lying there and mistaking it for a piece of meat, flew away with it. Those people searched for it but they did not find it. So they accused me of stealing it and started searching me and even searched my private parts.” The slave girl further said, “By Allah! While I was standing (in that state) with those people, the same kite passed by them and dropped the red scarf and it fell amongst them. I told them, ‘This is what you accused me of and I was innocent and now this is it.'” Aisha added, ‘That slave girl came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and submitted in Islam. She had a tent or a small room with a low roof in the Masjid. Whenever she visted me, she had a talk with me and whenever she sat with me, she would recite the following, ‘The day of the scarf (band) was one of the wonders of our Lord, verily He rescued me from the disbelievers’ town’. `Aisha added, ‘Once I asked her, what is the matter with you? Whenever you sit with me, you always recite these poetic verses.’ So she told me the whole story'”. [Saheeh al-Bukhaari. Number 439]

Imaam Ibn Hajr [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated:

*In the hadith is that it is permissible to stay overnight and sleep in the Masjid for those Muslims – whether a man or woman – who do not have a place to live if that would not lead to trouble.

*The permissibility of placing a covering in the Masjid by way of a tent and the like.

*To leave the land where a person is put to trial in the hope of relocating to a better place for oneself just as what happened to this woman.

*The virtue of migrating from the land of disbelief.

*Allaah’s response to the supplication of an oppressed person even if he (or she) is a disbeliever because the context of this hadeeth shows that she became a Muslim after arriving in Medeenah. Allaah knows best. (1)

Imaam Abdul Azeez bin Baaz [may allaah have mercy upon him] stated:

*This oppressed woman was aided by Allaah, for indeed Allaah aids a person if he (or she) is a disbeliever.

*Exit the Masjid if menses begin in the Masjid or stay out of necessity. (see footnote a)

*There is no harm in erecting a tent for a woman who is in need until a safe place is found.

*There’s no harm in sleeping in the Masjid if that would not lead to harm. (2)

Footnote a: There is a difference of opinion regarding whether a woman on her menses is allowed in the Masjid. “Shall I Show You a Woman of Paradise?” [Part 1]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Ataa Bin Abee Rabah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] narrated: Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said to me, “Shall I show you a woman of the people of Paradise?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “This black lady came to the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] and said, ‘I get attacks of epilepsy and my body becomes uncovered; please invoke Allah for me.’ The Prophet said (to her), ‘If you wish, be patient and you will have Paradise; and if you wish, I will invoke Allah to cure you.’ She said, ‘I will remain patient,’ and added, ‘but I become uncovered, so please invoke Allah for me that I may not become uncovered.’ So he invoked Allah for her.” [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari 5652 & Saheeh Muslim 2576]

Let us reflect on the story of this great woman! This woman had faith, truthfulness, honesty, purity, religion and modesty. With this great difficulty and affliction – the epilepsy that afflicted her, made her anxious and worried, hurt and made her restless – she went to the Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him] to supplicate for her so that the harm and calamity that afflicted her is removed. The Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him] guided her to what is greater than what she sought after, which was that she exercise patience whilst facing that hardship, trial and tribulation, and the end result will be Paradise. So, she chose the good end and the beautiful abode – to be among the people of Paradise with the guarantee of Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] if she exercised patience. She [may Allaah be pleased with her] chose to exercise patience, except that she was still worried because of the exposure of some of her body parts that should not be seen (by her non-Mahrams) whenever she had an epileptic fit, even though she was excused whilst in that state of illness that was beyond her control. However, her great modesty, the strength of her faith and the purity of her heart made her worry the most about this exposure. She chose to exercise patience and attain Paradise, but she said to the Prophet, “Indeed, I become uncovered (during the epileptic fit)” -meaning, “I cannot bear this affair even though it happens without my choice”. Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] supplicated for her and thereafter she used to have the epileptic fits, but never used to become uncovered due to the supplication of the Prophet.

The story of this great woman is transmitted in the subject matter regarding noble manners, beautiful qualities, good values, the beauty of modesty and the purity of a heart. She said, “But I become uncovered, so please invoke Allaah for me that I may not become uncovered”. This uncovering, which occurred without volition and choice, and in such a situation she is not blamed, however it still troubled and worried her. When this is her state of affairs – and what a noble state of affairs, then how about a woman who uncovers, reveals her beauty (to other than the Mahaarim (I)), displays her charms, exposes her beauty by her own volition and choice; careless and unconcerned, neither shy nor concerned about (this aspect) of faith?! She hears the verses of the Qur’aan and the narrations of Allaah’s Messenger, hears about the punishments and warning related to Tabarruj (unveiling (II)), but she neither pays attention to any of that nor does she care. Leader Whose Fear of Allaah Prevented Him From Being The Cause of Shedding Even a Drop of Blood of His Subjects

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Great Leader Whose Fear of Allaah Would Not Allow Him to Be Cause of Shedding Even a Drop of Blood; Neither Requested For Weapons Nor Fighting Men: [Food For Thought Regarding Those In Our Era Who Allow Globalists and Neoconservatives to Use Their Countries For Proxy Wars, Supply Them With Weapons to Prolong Dangerous Conflicts and Sacrifice The Blood of Their Citizens to Help Globalists and Neoconservatives to Pursue Their Geopolitical Agendas]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khalee [may Allaah preserve him] stated: Uthmaan [may Allaah be pleased with him] was one those who restrained the people from bloodshed the most and (restrained himself regarding the affair) of those who violated his honour. Shakhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “And what is well known – based on numerous narrations – is that indeed Uthmaan [may Allaah be pleased with him] was one of those who restrained the people from bloodshed the most, exercised patience the most regarding the affair of those who violated his honour and those who made a determined attempt to shed his blood. They besieged him and endeavoured to kill him, and he knew their desire to kill him. Indeed, the Muslims came to him from every place to help him and indicated to him to fight the besiegers, but he commanded them to refrain from fighting and commanded those who obeyed him not to fight. It has been reported that he said to his slaves, ‘Whoever restrains his hand is freed’. It was said to him, ‘Will you go to Makkah?’ He said, ‘I will not be amongst those who commit evil in the sacred precinct’. Then it was said to him, ‘Will you not go to Syria?’ He said, ‘I will not leave my place of Hijrah [i.e. Madeenah]’. Then it was said to him, ‘Fight them’, so he said, ‘I will not be the first in the Ummah of Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] to unleash the sword after the departure of Muhammad’. Uthmaan’s patience until he was murdered is one of his greatest virtues in the sight of the Muslims”. (1)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “When Uthmaan [may Allaah be pleased with him] knew that he would be killed due to what he could see and observe regarding the events and signs, he refrained from fighting and from defending himself lest fighting occurs between the Muslims, so he preferred to be killed instead of (initiating) a fight between the Muslims”. (2)

Al-Allaamah Saaleh al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said, “A person should not leave the people in dispute; rather it is incumbent upon him to be eager to bring about conciliation between disputing parties, especially relatives. As for some people- and Allaah’s Protection is sought, they only bring into disputes that which will increase it. This type of person is a shaytaan”. (3)

Fear and Demoralisation Utilised to Control and Exploit People, Influence Public Opinion and Hide Truth!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Fear and Demoralisation Utilised to Control and Exploit People, Influence Public Opinion and Hide Truth Is Not a New Strategy, Rather It Was Utilised By The Greatest Tyrants

Fear as a Means of Control

Allaah [The Most High] said: [إِنَّمَا ذَٲلِكُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوۡلِيَآءَهُ ۥ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمۡ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ – It is only Shaitan (Satan) that suggests to you the fear of his Auliya’ [supporters and friends], so fear them not, but fear Me, if you are (true) believers]. [Surah Aal Imran. Aayah 175]

Imaam Ibn Katheer [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Shaytaan threatens you with his friends and tries to pretend that they are powerful and fearsome. Allaah said: [فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمۡ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ – so fear them not, but fear Me, if you are (true) believers], meaning, if shaytaan seeks to bring these thoughts to you, then depend on Me and seek refuge with Me. I shall suffice you and make you prevail over them. Allaah said:

Is not Allah Sufficient for His slave? Yet they try to frighten you with those (whom they worship) besides Him! And whom Allah sends astray, for him there will be no guide. And whomsoever Allah guides, for him there will be no misleader. Is not Allah All-Mighty, Possessor of Retribution? And verily, if you ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” Surely, they will say: “Allah (has created them).” Say: “Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides Allah, if Allah intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm, or if He (Allah) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?” Say : “Sufficient for me is Allah; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust.” [Surah Az-Zumar. Aayaat 36-38] (1)

Allaah [The Exalted] said that Prophet Ibraaheem [peace be upon him] said to his people:

And how should I fear those whom you associate in worship with Allah (though they can neither benefit nor harm), while you fear not that you have joined in worship with Allah things for which He has not sent down to you any authority. (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know.” It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided. [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayaat 81-82]

Meaning: How can this be justified by way of sound intellect or to the one with sound understanding that one fears what you ascribe as partners to Allaah, even though neither can it benefit nor harm, but you do not fear that you have ascribed things as partners to Allaah for which Allaah has neither sent down any proof nor legislated it?! The person who sets up a deity that has not created anything as a partner to Allaah, [(The Lord and owner of everything, the owner of all the means and causes of harm and benefit); rather such a deity is created, neither can it benefit nor harm itself and those who worship it, neither can it give life nor death, nor raise the dead], prostates to it, humbles himself to it and devoted to it, then this person is more worthy of fearing (evil consequences and destruction) than the one who has not ascribed another deity as a partner to Allaah, but rather he declares that Allaah is one – the only true deity, the one with absolute Lordship, the only one who possesses perfect greatness and authority, the only deity that deserves to be loved, feared and direct one’s hope to. (2)

[وَڪَيۡفَ أَخَافُ مَآ أَشۡرَڪۡتُمۡ – Why should I fear that which you ascribe as partners to [Allaah]? – Meaning, when its state is that of inability and cannot benefit; [وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمۡ أَشۡرَكۡتُم بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ يُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ عَلَيۡڪُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنً۬ا‌ۚ – whilst you do not fear ascribing partners to Allah for which He has not sent down to you any authority], meaning, you do so solely due to following desires! [فَأَىُّ ٱلۡفَرِيقَيۡنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡأَمۡنِ‌ۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ – (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know?]

Then differentiated the two parties and stated: [ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَمۡ يَلۡبِسُوٓاْ إِيمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلۡمٍ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡأَمۡنُ وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ – It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided] -Meaning, safe from fear, punishment and misery, and they will be guided to the straight path. (3)

Fir’awn’s Fearmongering

Allaah [The Most High] said:

He [Fir’awn] said, “Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Musa? Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof, so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition)”. [Musa] said, “Your appointed meeting is the day of the festival, and let the people assemble when the sun has risen (forenoon)”. So Fir’awn withdrew, devised his plot and then came back. Musa (Moses) said to them, “Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably”. [Surah Taa Haa. Aayaat 57-61]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “He (Fir’awn) claimed that the signs which Musa [peace be upon him] showed him were nothing more than sorcery and illusions, and that the aim behind them was to drive them from their land and take it over. Fir’awn’s statements were intended to influence his people, because people are naturally attached to their homelands and it is difficult for them to abandon them. He told them that this was Musa’s goal, so that they would hate and oppose him”. (4)

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقۡتُلۡ مُوسَىٰ وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهُ ۥۤ‌ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَڪُمۡ أَوۡ أَن يُظۡهِرَ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡفَسَادَ

Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!” [Surah Ghaafir. Aayah 26]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ – Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said] – Meaning, with haughtiness and tyranny, whilst deluding his foolish people;

[ذَرُونِي أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُ – Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)!] This was his (false) claim that had it not been for his consideration of the wishes of his people, he would have killed Musa and that (Musa’s) supplication to his Lord would not have prevented him from that. Fir’awn then mentioned what made him want to kill Musa and that he is a sincere adviser to his people, and that he wished to remove mischief from the land. Allaah (The Most High) stated that Fir’awn said:

[إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ فِي الْأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ – I fear that he (Musa) may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!]

This is the most amazing the affair can be! The most evil one among the creation gives advice to the people against the best among the creation. This is (nothing but) disguised falsehood and propaganda, which cannot seize except the intellects of those (people) about whom Allaah stated:

[فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ – Thus he Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] befooled and misled his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Verse 54] (5)

Allaah also stated that Fir’awn said to Prophet Musa [peace be upon him]:

[ لَٮِٕنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيۡرِى لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِينَ- If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners].

So after Fir’awn had no proofs to offer and was completely unable to offer anything that would nullify the proofs of his opponent, he utilised his authority in the land to threaten Musa [peace be upon him]. He -May Allaah disfigure him- thought that he could misguide Musa by threatening him, and that Musa cannot worship a god besides him, because if Musa does not choose him as his god, then indeed Musa has affirmed that he and his followers are upon clear-sightedness in the affairs of their religion. (6)

Allaah informed us about Prophet Hud [peace be upon him] and his people:

All that we say is that some of our gods (i.e. their false deities) have seized you (Hud) with evil (madness).” He said, “I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship with Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (i.e. upon perfect justice and perfect wisdom, worthy of all praise in everything He has Willed, Decreed, Legislated and Commanded; Worthy of all praise in His recompense, rewards and punishments. His actions never exit the straight path for which He is praised and exalted). (7) So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things.” [Surah Hud. Aayaat 54-57]

Remember the fearmongering that led to the invasion of Iraq?! Fearmongering and lying about the existence of “Weapons of Mass Destruction” that led to the death of thousands of innocent people! Likewise, we’ve witnessed the fearmongering and lies regarding viruses as well as the dangers of not being vaccinated!

Demoralisation Used as a Means of Control

Allaah informed us about the attitude of the people of Prophet Hud [peace be upon]:

The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: “We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars.” [Surah Hud Aayah 27]

Allaah [The Most High] informed us in Surah Ash-Shu’araa about Fir’awn [may Allaah curse him] and Musa [peace be upon him]: [قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ- Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “And what is the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?] [ قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ‌ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ – Musa (Moses) said: “Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty] [قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُ ۥۤ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ -Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: “Do you not hear (what he (Musa) says)?] [قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآٮِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ- Musa (Moses) said: “Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!]; [قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونٌ۬- Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!].

Allaah [The Most High] informed us that Fir’awn said: [أَمۡ أَنَا۟ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ مَهِينٌ۬ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ – Am I not better than this one [Musa (Moses)], who is Mahin (has no honour nor any respect, and is weak and despicable) and can scarcely express himself clearly?][Surah Az-Zukhruf’ Ayah 52]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “May Allaah [The Most High] disfigure Fir’awn, because indeed he intended Musa by this description, even though Musa is one whom Allaah [The Most High] spoke to directly and one given high status by Allaah [The Most High]; however Fir’awn thought that he is honoured and Musa is dishonoured and disgraced. He also proclaimed that in addition to this, Musa cannot even speak clearly because he is not eloquent! However, Firawn’s insult against Musa that Musa cannot even express himself is not something blameworthy at all, because he was able to convey the message, even though he used to encounter some difficulty when speaking”. (8)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The believers are put to trial by way of the disbelievers and the disbelievers are put to trial by way of the believers. Those who enjoin good and forbid evil are put to trial by way of those whom they command good and forbid from evil, and those commanded with good and forbidden from evil are put to trial by way of those who command them with good and forbid them from evil. And due to this, the poor and weak Muslims amongst the followers of the Messengers were a trial for the wealthy people and leaders. They [i.e. these wealthy ones and leaders] were prevented from accepting faith after knowing the truthfulness of the Messengers. [Allaah informed us that they said]: [لَوْ كَانَ خَيْرًا مَا سَبَقُونَا إِلَيْهِ – Had it (i.e. the Message of the Messenger) been a good thing, they (weak and poor) would not have preceded us thereto!] [Soorah Al-Ahqaaf: Ayah: 11]

And (Allaah said that) they (i.e. disbelievers in the time of Nooh) said to Nooh: [أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ – Shall we believe in you, when the lowest of the people follow you? (i.e. those without wealth or status in society)]. [Surah Ash-Shu’araa: Ayah: 111]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَكَذَٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعْضَهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ لِيَقُولُوا أَهَٰؤُلَاءِ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا – Thus We have tried some of them with others, that they might say: “Is it these (poor believers) that Allah has favoured from amongst us?] [Soorah Al-An’aam: Ayah: 53]

So when a leader of high status saw that a poor person of lowly status had preceded him in belief and in following the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], he become furious and scornful about accepting Islaam [due to not wanting] to be similar to [that poor person of lowly status]. And he says: I enter into Islaam so that I may be at the same level with this lowly one? Az-Zujaaj [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Perhaps a person of high status wanted to accept Islaam, but he was prevented from it so that it would not be said: ‘’someone lower than him preceded him (in Islaam);’’ therefore he remained upon disbelief and not [wanting] a Muslim to precede him in virtue. (9)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated in Masaa’il Al-Jaahiliyyah: “The worldly life was exalted in their hearts, as Allaah [The Exalted] said [that they said]:

[ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf, Aayah 31]

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: One of the traits of the (people) of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] was that the worldly life was exalted in their hearts; so, they regarded the one who possessed (the things of the worldly life) to be honourable and the one who was not in possession of the (things of the worldly life) to be of low (status) and despised. And even in the affair of Risaalah [Messengership], which is Allaah’s (absolute choice to choose the one He decides to send as a Messenger), they saw that it should be given to the rich people and not the poor people. They said, “Allaah did not find, except an orphan of Abu Taalib to send (as a Messenger)?” They were referring to Muhammad. [لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – And they say: Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 31]. The two towns are Makkah and Madina, and that (great man) in Makkah was Waleed Bin Mugheerah or Habeeb Bin Amr Ath-thaqafee, and it is said that the great man in Taa’if was Urwa Bin Mas’ood. The people of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] said, “If the message was given to one of those two great men, it would have been befitting to be (regarded) a message, but it does not befit them to think that it is given to a poor orphan [i.e. Muhammad]”. Allaah [The Exalted] said [in response to them]: [ أَهُمۡ يَقۡسِمُونَ رَحۡمَتَ رَبِّكَ‌ۚ – Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord] [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 32] – Meaning: They interfered in Allaah’s [choice, decrees, decisions etc]. They wanted to portion out Allaah’s Mercy and did not testify to what Allaah portioned out [of His Mercy], even though [ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ حَيۡثُ يَجۡعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ – Allaah knows best with whom to place his message] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 24] (10)

Humble Yourself to Allaah’s Greatness Alone – Neither Fearing Nor Exalting The Fear-mongering Atheists and Those Who Seek to Demoralise You

Al-Allaamah Rabee bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah protect him] stated: Many people humble themselves to one another more than they humble themselves to Allaah – The Most High, The Most Great. It is neither permissible for a person to be a slave [i.e. neither worshipping nor submitting to anyone in a manner which only Allaah deserves], except to Allaah, nor humble himself except to the Greatness of Allaah. Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said:

He is Allaah than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He; the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allaah! [High is He] above all that they associate as partners with Him. He is Allaah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. [Surah Al-Hashar’ Aayaat 23-24]

Examine those Aayaat in the last part of Surah Al-Hashar! The statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ – He is Allah than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He)]: This necessitates Tawheed Al-Uloohiyyah (i.e. Allaah’s right to be worshipped alone and none associated as partners with Him).

The statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ‌ۖ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ‌ۖ هُوَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ- He is Allaah, than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He, the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful]: This necessitates Tawheed Al-Asmaa Was Sifaat (i.e. the oneness of Allaah in His Names and Attributes).

And the statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُ ٱلۡبَارِئُ ٱلۡمُصَوِّرُ‌ۖ – He is Allaah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms] necessitates Tawheed Ar-Roboobiyyah (i.e. the oneness of Allaah in His Lordhsip).

These few Aayaat in the last part of Surah Al-Hashr necessitate all the categories of Tawheed . (11)

Supplication:

The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] used to supplicate saying:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ، وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

O Allaah! I seek refuge with You against distress and grief, helplessness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, being heavily in debt and being overcome by men. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. Number 2893]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim said: So, the Messenger sought Allaah’s Refuge against eight affairs and each of them is connected to another thing.

Distress and Grief: Distress and grief are connected to each other and they are pains in the heart. If it is in relation to an affair that has elapsed, then it is grief; and if related to an affair in the future, then it is distress. So, if the basis of the pain is related to something missed in the past, it is grief; and if its basis is related to fear of what is to come in future, it is distress.

Helplessness And Laziness: Helplessness and Laziness are connected to each other. When one is delayed from what is beneficial and its perfect [accomplishment], it is considered to be helplessness. And if the affair is related to lack of intent, it is considered to be laziness.

Cowardice And Miserliness: Cowardice and miserliness are connected to each other, because indeed Ihsaan [i.e. to do good for others, generosity, etc] brings happiness to the heart and comfort to the inner self, overcomes distress and repels rancour. And abandoning it [i.e. Ihsaan] would cause the heart to be constricted and prevents it from reaching blessings by way of it. Cowardice is to abandon Insaan by way of physical actions and miserliness is the abandonment of Insaan through wealth.

Being Heavily In Debt And Being Overcome By Men: Being heavily in debt and being overcome by men are connected to each other, because being subdued and overcome can occur from the person himself or from others- either based on truth or falsehood. The cause of being heavily in debt emanates from the person himself and no wrong is committed against him, and being overcome by men is tantamount to falsehood [committed against him] and not from himself.

The intent in this discussion is that the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] [showed and clarified] that grief is something a person should seek refuge against, because indeed it weakens the heart, weakens one’s determination and changes one’s intent. And there is nothing more beloved to shaytaan than bringing sadness to the believers. Allaah [The Exalted] said: [ إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِ لِيَحۡزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا – Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaitan (Satan), in order that he may cause grief to the believers] [Surah Al-Mujaadilah. Aayah 10]

Grief is one of the ailments of the heart which prevents it from arising, embarking upon and striving [to pursue what is beneficial] – preventing it from attaining reward due to the calamities that afflicts a person outside his own choice, such as sickness, pain and what is similar. (12)

The Tyrants of Aad

Allaah [The Exalted] stated that Prophet Hud [peace be upon him] said to his people: [وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِينَ – And when you seize, seize you as tyrants]– Meaning, when you want to attack with a whip or sword, you attack like tyrants, completely overpowering and being savagely violent – neither compassionate nor aim to discipline (within justice as commanded by Allaah), nor contemplating on the consequences. (1) Allaah gave them great strength and it was obligated on them to use this strength in obedience to Allaah, but they became boastful and haughty, and they said: [مَنۡ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً‌ۖ – Who is mightier than us in strength? (Surah Fussilat. Verse 15]; and they utilized their strength in disobedience to Allaah, fruitlessly and foolishly, so their Prophet forbade them from that. (2) Their Prophet forbade them from that because it was done out of oppression. (3)

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Allaah reproached Aad – the people of Prophet Hud – and that they are oppressors who attack people without justification, oppress them by way of beating, killing and pillage….(4)

Heretics and Proponents of Religious Innovations –

Abdullah Bin Sabah – The Yahoodi- During The Khilaafah of Uthmaan

Shaikh Shamsuddeen Al-Afghaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: When the enemies of Islam saw that they were unable to do away with this religion, they implanted their disbelieving agents within Islam, who pretended to be Muslims in order to foment confusion, trials and tribulations; and in order to spread shirk by exaggerating the status of the pious people and exalting their graves with [beliefs and practices] that were not ordained by Allaah. So, this Ummah was put to trial through the plots of the [atheist, heretic and hypocrite] Abdullaah Bin Saba, who claimed Uloohiyyah [i.e. the right to be worship] for Ali Ibn Abee Taalib [may Allaah be pleased with him]. Abdullaah Bin As-Sabah’s followers were known as the Saaba-iyyah, and later on they were known as the rawaafid (shiites), the ismaaliyyah (shittes), the nusayriyah (shiites) and other than them amongst the Baatiniyyah. They used to worship the graves and the dead, and they used to build places of worship and domed [shaped] shrines upon these graves. So, by way of this they revived the practices of the Yahood, the Nasaaraa and the idol worshippers, and thus the practices of the worshippers of graves in this Muslim Ummah manifested itself in actions that were carried out by the rawaafid (shiites). (5) During the khilafah of Uthaman [may Allaah be pleased with him] some of the desert Arabs exploited the falsehood of Ibn Saba – a Jew – and started spreading lies about Uthman, saying that Uthman did such and such. Ibn Saba – together with those who aided him – wrote forged letters and attributed them to some of the Prophet’s companions, such as Zubair, Ali, Talhah, Aisha and others, claimed that these companions agreed with him and that they were unhappy with Uthmaan’s governance. Imam Al Amash [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated that Ibn Saba used to write falsehood and attributed to the companions. (6)

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah protect him] said: The wars that take place between the Muslims and the splitting are only brought about by the people of desires, such as the Khawaarij, the Mutazilah and other than them! The people of desires are the ones who cause the fitnah—the Mutazilah, the khawaarij, the Rawaafid (Shiites) and other than them. Fitnah does not occur except from them and as a result of them. Who murdered Uthmaan (may Allaah be pleased with him)? Who murdered Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him)? Who were the ones that ignited the fitnah between the Muslims thereafter? It was none else other than those people of desires. Who misled Al-Mamoon and those rulers who came after him to put Ahlus Sunnah to trial, until their Imaam Ahmad Bin Hanbal (may Allaah have mercy upon him) was beaten and imprisoned? It was none else other than the people of desires. Who brought about the imprisonment of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Alaah have mercy upon him) until he died in prison? It was none else other than those people of desires! It is upon us to be cautious of these people because the end result of their fitnah leads to the splitting of the unity of the Muslims, rebellion against the Muslim rulers and splitting the Jamaa-ah of the Muslims, so that they become divergent groups and parties, which is the opposite of being one united Ummah. Colonialists, Neocolonialists, Globalists etc

Barbaric sanctions and later on Invasion of Iraq: Do you remember the barbaric sanctions imposed on Iraq that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Iraqi children? Do you remember what some of your own journalists called an “act of military aggression launched on a false pretext!” There’s no need to give details regarding the suffering and lives lost because that is well documented. And do you remember the torture at Abu Ghuraib prison?!

One of the contemporary American warmongers who gave a speech – on February 2003 speech to the United Nations Security Council about the alleged existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – stated thereafter in 2005 (interview with ABC News), “It’s a blot … and will always be a part of my record. It was painful. It’s painful now”.

To conclude: ISIS (so called Islamic State and their supporters) commit murder and cause corruption by way of their religious innovations and claim that they want to establish Sharee’ah. As for the contemporary figureheads of the so called free world and the globalists, they fabricate evidence to initiate wars in the name of self-defense, even though their goal is to secretly steal raw materials as soon as they kindle the fire of deadly conflicts. Both groups (ISIS and figureheads of the so called free world) seek praise, even though their corruption is manifest for everyone to see. Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] said:

لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَآ أَتَواْ وَّيُحِبُّونَ أَن يُحۡمَدُواْ بِمَا لَمۡ يَفۡعَلُواْ فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّہُم بِمَفَازَةٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ‌ۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ۬

Think not that those who rejoice in what they have done (or brought about), and love to be praised for what they have not done,- think not you that they are rescued from the torment, and for them is a painful torment. [Surah Al-Imran. aayah 188]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: They rejoice in what they have brought about of bidah and misguidance, and love to be praised for following the Sunnah and sincerity. [i.e. they want to be praised for what they do not deserve with regards to following the sunnah and having sincerity]. [Madaarij as-Saalikeen 1/84]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: They want to be praised for that which they have not done and truth they have not uttered, so they combine evil doing and its statement, and rejoice in that. And they love to be praised for some good they have not done. [Tafseer As-Sadi]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And when it is said to them: ‘’Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peacemakers. Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. And when it is said to them [hypocrites]: ‘’Believe as the people [followers of Muhammad (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) have believed,’’ they say: ‘’Shall we believe as the fools have believed?’’ Verily, they are the fools, but they know not. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayaat 11-13]

Allaah said:

And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you (O Muhammad), in this worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome of the opponents. And when he turns away, his effort in the land is to make mischief therein and to destroy the crops and the cattle, and Allah likes not mischief. And when it is said to him, “Fear Allah”, he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. So enough for him is Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest! [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayaat 204-206]

[وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يُعۡجِبُكَ قَوۡلُهُ ۥ فِى ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا – And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you in this worldly life]: Meaning, the one who hears his speech is pleased when he speaks and he thinks that he has uttered beneficial speech.

He emphasises what he says [وَيُشۡهِدُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا فِى قَلۡبِهِ – and he calls Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart]: Meaning, he states that Allaah knows that what is in his heart agrees with what he says, even though he is lying regarding what he says because his speech contradicts his deeds. His speech would have agreed with his deeds had he being truthful, because this the case regarding the believers- those who are not hypocrites. And due to this Allaah said: [وَهُوَ أَلَدُّ ٱلۡخِصَامِ – yet he is the most quarrelsome of the opponents]: Meaning, when you disagree with him, you’ll find him to be the most quarrelsome, bigoted and difficult person to deal with, as well as the ugly characteristics that results from this behaviour, which are the opposite of the manners of the believers- those who make ease their way, submit to the truth and pardon people.

[وَإِذَا تَوَلَّىٰ سَعَىٰ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لِيُفۡسِدَ فِيهَا وَيُهۡلِكَ ٱلۡحَرۡثَ وَٱلنَّسۡلَ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡفَسَادَ – And when he turns away, his effort in the land is to make mischief therein and to destroy the crops and the cattle, and Allah likes not mischief]- Meaning, when this person – the one whose speech amazes you – is not in your presence, he strives to commit sins which is tantamount to corruption in the earth, so cattle and crops are destroyed as a result of that corruption. The blessings in the vegetations, fruits and livestock decrease and become little due to evil deeds.

[وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡفَسَادَ – and Allah likes not mischief]: Meaning, when it is the case that Allaah does not like corruption, then He has an intense hatred for the person who sows corruption in the earth, even if such a person utters a good speech merely on the tongue (i.e. says one thing and does something else).

This Aayah contains proof regarding the fact that the statements uttered by individuals is not a proof regarding their truthfulness or whether they are upon falsehood, neither that they are righteous nor wicked until deeds ascertain them. And it is obligatory to examine the condition of those who bear witness, the one who is in the right and the falsifier amongst the people based on the righteousness of their deeds – examine the clear indications and their behaviour, and not to be deceived by how they portray themselves and the praise they give themselves.

Then Allaah mentioned that when this person – the one who causes corruption in the earth through acts of disobedience to Allaah – is commanded to fear Allaah, he becomes arrogant and haughty, [ أَخَذَتۡهُ ٱلۡعِزَّةُ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ‌ۚ -he is led by arrogance to (more) crime]. So, he combines between disobedience to Allaah and being arrogant towards the sincere advisers. Hudhaifah Bin al Yamaan [may Allaah be pleased with him] said: ‘’People used to ask the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] about the good times, but I used to ask him about bad times fearing lest they overtake me. I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! We were in a state of pre-Islamic ignorance and evil, and then Allaah brought us this good [time through Islam], is there any evil time after this good one?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I asked, ‘Will there be a good time again after that evil?’ He said, ‘Yes, but therein will be a hidden evil.’ I asked, ‘What will be the evil hidden therein?’ He said, ‘[That time will witness the rise of] the people who will follow ways other than mine and seek guidance other than mine. You will know [their] good points as well as [their] bad points.’ I asked, ‘Will there be an evil time after this good one?’ He said, ‘Yes. [A time will come] when there will be people standing and inviting at the gates of Hell. Whosoever responds to their call they will throw them into the fire.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Describe them for us.’ He said, ‘They will be a people having the same complexion as ours and speaking our language.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! What do you suggest if I happen to live in that time?’ He said, ‘You should stick to the main body of the Muslims and their leader.’ I said, ‘If they have no [such thing as the] main body and have no leader?’ He said, ‘Separate yourself from all these factions, though you may have to eat the roots of trees [in a jungle] until death comes to you and you are in this state.’’’ [Bukhari and Muslim…. Intellectual (or Ideological) War- Part 2: By Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question: Are the Arabs in general and Saudi Arabia in particular exposed to this type of (intellectual or ideological) war?

Answer: Yes, the Muslims in general- including the Arabs and others, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and others- have been subjected to a great intellectual war in which the nations of Kufr – from the East and West – gathered against them; and one of the most severe and dangerous of that is the Christian Crusade (intellectual war), the Zionist (intellectual war) and the atheistic communist (intellectual war). As for the Christian Crusader war, it is at its most intense at present. Since Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi’s victory over the Crusaders who invaded Muslim countries with force and weapons, the Christians realized that this war of theirs, even if it achieved victories, is temporary and does not last; therefore, they thought of a more harmful alternative after studies and meetings regarding what would be more dangerous than armed conflicts, which is that the Christian nations – individually and collectively – carry out an intellectual invasion of the young Muslims, because conquering the heart and mind is more probable than conquering the land. (see appendix a)

A Muslim whose thoughts have not been polluted cannot bear to see a Kaafir being in charge of authority to give commands and prohibitions in his country, and that is why he works with all his might to expel and distance him, even if he has to give his life and the most expensive price for that, and this is what happened after the great victories of the invading Crusader armies. (see appendix b)

As for the Muslim who is subjected to this vicious invasion (i.e. intellectual or ideological war), he becomes unperceptive and sick in his thoughts, because he does not see a danger in the presence of Christian (invaders) or others in his land; rather he may see that this is one of the signs of goodness, and one that helps in progression and civilization.  So, the Christian (invaders) suffice with the intellectual war, because it is stronger and more established, for what need do they have to send armies and spend money with the presence of those (brainwashed Muslims) who do what they want with the children of Islam, intentionally or unintentionally, with or without a price?! Therefore, they do not resort to fighting Muslims openly with weapons and force, except in the rare and necessary cases that call for it urgently, as happened in the war against Uganda or Pakistan, or when there is a need for it to establish their programs and organizations, and set up institutions that would carry out fierce intellectual war, as happened in Egypt, Syria, Iraq and others before the evacuation. (ref 1)

Appendix a: In the year 1250 King Louis the Ninth was captured whilst on a crusade against the Muslims of Egypt. He was imprisoned and later released after paying a large ransom. However, whilst in prison he utilized his time to think about ways in which to plot against Islaam and the Muslims, so shaytaan inspired him with the following plots: Firstly: The war in the battlefield between the Christians of the west and the Muslims should be replaced with a war based on ideas and cultural supremacy. Secondly: Prepare the West to corrupt the creed of the Muslims and distort the image of Islaam in the world.

[2] Tyranny and Some Characteristics of Tyrants

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] quoted Imaam Ibn Katheer [may Allaah have mercy upon him] who stated about a Raafidi called Ibnul Mu’izz (411AH), “He was tyrant and a rebellious devil”.

There was much instability in his actions, judgements and statements. He claimed Al-Uloohiyyah [i.e. to be deified and worshipped] just as pharaoh did. He used to command the people to stand up in rows to exalt his mention and show respect to his name when his name was mentioned by the khateeb on the pulpit. This was done in all the places under his ruler ship. He commanded the people of Egypt in particular that they should prostrate when his name was mentioned. And even the people in the markets and those who did not establish the five daily prayers and the Juma’ah Friday prayer used to prostrate when his name was mentioned. They used to abandon prostration for Allaah on Fridays [i.e. they did not attend the Friday prayer] and (the prayer) on other days, but they prostrated to the ruler [i.e. Ibnul Mu’izz]. He used to command the Jews and Christians to embrace Islaam whilst they hated to do so, and thereafter he permitted them to return to their religions. He used to destroy their churches and synagogues and rebuilt them again. Thereafter, he killed them, destroy their churches and synagogues. Bad Behaviour, Obstinacy, Lies and Plotting of The Majority of ( الْمَلَأُ ) Throughout Human History!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Indeed, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha ill-Allah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Certainly, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day!” قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦۤ – The Mala [the notables, leaders and chiefs] amongst his people said, “Verily, we see you in plain error”. [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verses 59-60]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And to ‘Ad (people, We sent) their brother Hud. He said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha ill-Allah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Will you not fear (Allah)?”

قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦۤ – The Mala [ notables, leaders and chiefs] who disbelieved among his people said: “Verily, we see you in foolishness, and verily, we think you are one of the liars.” [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verses 65-66]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha ill-Allah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign (the miracle of the coming out of a huge she-camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she-camel of Allah is a sign unto you; so you leave her to graze in Allah’s earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should seize you. “And remember when He made you successors after ‘Ad (people) and gave you habitations in the land, you build for yourselves palaces in plains, and carve out homes in the mountains. So remember the graces (bestowed upon you) from Allah, and do not go about making mischief on the earth.” قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَڪۡبَرُواْ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ – The Mala [leaders, notables and chiefs] of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak – to such of them as believed: “Know you that Salih (Saleh) is one sent from his Lord.” They said: “We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent.” Those who were arrogant said: “Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in.” [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verses 73-78]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And to (the people of) Madyan (Midian), (We sent) their brother Shu’aib. He said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. [La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)].” Verily, a clear proof (sign) from your Lord has come unto you; so give full measure and full weight and wrong not men in their things, and do not mischief on the earth after it has been set in order, that will be better for you, if you are believers. “And sit not on every road, threatening, and hindering from the Path of Allah those who believe in Him. and seeking to make it crooked. And remember when you were but few, and He multiplied you. And see what was the end of the Mufsidun (mischief-makers, corrupts, liars). “And if there is a party of you who believes in that with which I have been sent and a party who do not believe, so be patient until Allah judges between us, and He is the Best of judges.” قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ – The Mala [leaders, notables and chiefs] of those who were arrogant among his people said: “We shall certainly drive you out, O Shu’aib, and those who have believed with you from our town, or else you (all) shall return to our religion.” He said: “Even though we hate it! [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verses 86-88]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ۬ –
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُمۡ‌ۖ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ

قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ – The Mala [leaders, notables and chiefs] of the people of Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “This (i.e. Prophet Musa) is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; he wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?” [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verse 109]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

[وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ – The Mala (leaders, notables and chiefs) of Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) people said: “Will you leave Musa (Moses) and his people to spread mischief in the land, and to abandon you and your gods?” He said: “We will kill their sons, and let live their women, and we have indeed irresistible power over them.”] [Surah Al-A’raaf. Verse 127]

Allaah [The Exalted] stated:

Then, after them (i.e. the people of Prophet Nooh), We created another generation. 32. And We sent to them a Messenger from among themselves (saying): “Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?”

وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ – And the Mala [leaders, notables and chiefs] of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: “He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. “If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. “Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? “Far, very far is that which you are promised. “There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! “He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him.” He said: “O my Lord! Help me because they deny me.” (Allah) said: “In a little while, they are sure to be regretful.” So As-Saihah (torment – awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). [Surah Al-Muminoon. Verses 31-41]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

[وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَأُ – Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “O Mala (leaders, chiefs and notables)! I know not that you have an ilah (a god) other than me, so kindle for me (a fire), O Haman, to bake (bricks out of) clay, and set up for me a Sarhan (a lofty tower, or palace, etc.) in order that I may look at (or look for) the Ilah (God) of Musa (Moses); and verily, I think that he [Musa (Moses)] is one of the liars.” And he and his hosts were arrogant in the land, without right, and they thought that they would never return to Us. So We seized him and his hosts, and We threw them all into the sea (and drowned them). So behold (O Muhammad ) what was the end of the Zalimun [wrong-doers, polytheists and those who disbelieved in the Oneness of their Lord (Allah), or rejected the advice of His Messenger Musa (Moses)]. And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be helped. And We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will be among Al-Maqbuhun (those who are prevented to receive Allah’s Mercy or any good, despised or destroyed, etc.). [Surah Al-Qasas. Verses 38-42]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad ) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: “This (Prophet Muhammad ) is a sorcerer, a liar. “Has he (Muhammad) made the aliha (gods) (all) into One Ilah (God – Allah). Verily, this is a curious thing!” [وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِنۡہُمۡ – and the Mala (leaders, notable and chiefs) among them went about (saying): “Go on, and remain constant to your aliha (gods)! Verily, This is a thing designed (against you)! We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention!] [Surah Saad. Verses 4-7]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And We did not send a warner to a township, but those who were given the worldly wealth and luxuries among them said: “We believe not in the (Message) with which you have been sent.” And they say: “We are more in wealth and in children, and we are not going to be punished.” [Surah Saba. Verses 34-35]

Every Town Had Its Wicked Figureheads And Plotters Against The Messengers And Their True Followers!

Allaah [The Most High] said:

[ وَكَذَٲلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرۡيَةٍ أَڪَـٰبِرَ مُجۡرِمِيهَا لِيَمۡڪُرُواْ فِيهَا‌ۖ وَمَا يَمۡڪُرُونَ إِلَّا بِأَنفُسِہِمۡ وَمَا يَشۡعُرُونَ – And thus We have set up in every town the greatest of its criminals to plot therein. But they plot not except against their ownselves, and they perceive (it) not]. [Soorah Al-An’aam. Verse 123]

[وَكَذَٲلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرۡيَةٍ أَڪَـٰبِرَ مُجۡرِمِيهَا – And thus We have set up in every town the greatest of its criminals] – Meaning: Those figureheads whose crimes were great and whose transgressions were severe. [لِيَمۡڪُرُواْ فِيهَا‌ۖ -to plot therein]- Meaning: Through deception, calling to the path of shaytaan and waging war – through speech and deeds- against the Messengers and their followers. However, their plots and machinations only backfired on them. That is because they plotted and Allah too was planning, and Allah is the Best of the planners.

Likewise Allaah set up great ones amongst the leaders of guidance and the most virtuous of them, who opposed those criminals, refuted their statements and strove against them in the path of Allaah. They followed the paths leading to the path (of Allaah) and Allaah aided them. Allaah gave them an acute discernment and kept them steadfast. So the days of victory and defeat alternated between them and their enemies, until the affair came to its final end-victory and triumph (for the believers) and the good final end is for the Muttaqoon (i.e. the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. [Source: An Excerpt from Tayseer Al-kareem Ar-Rahmaan Fee Tafseer kalaam Al-Mannaan By Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah)] Slightly paraphrased]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Those before them indeed plotted, but Allah struck at the foundation of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them, and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them and will say: “Where are My (so called) ‘partners’ concerning whom you used to disagree and dispute (with the believers, by defying and disobeying Allah)?” Those who have been given the knowledge (about the Torment of Allah for the disbelievers) will say: “Verily! Disgrace this Day and misery are upon the disbelievers. [Surah An-Nahl. Verses 26-27]

[قَدۡ مَڪَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ – Those before them indeed plotted]: The Mufassiroon say that this refers to Namrood who built a tall tower in order to climb – as he claimed – the heavens and fight its inhabitants.

[فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنۡيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلسَّقۡفُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ – but Allah struck at the foundation of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them]: The Mufassiroon say: Allaah sent a wind which flung the top of the tower to the sea and the rest was destroyed. [وَأَتَٮٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ – and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive]: Meaning, from where they thought they were safe.

[ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ يُخۡزِيهِمۡ – Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace]: Meaning, disgraced with punishment. [An Excerpt from ‘Zaadul Maseer Fee Ilmit Tafseer’ By Imaam Ibnul Jawzi (rahimahullaah). Slightly paraphrased]

[قَدۡ مَڪَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ – Those before them indeed plotted]: Meaning plotted against their Messengers, employed various types of tricks in order to reject that which the messengers brought and established gigantic safeguards [by way of arguments, views etc] on their plots. [فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنۡيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ – but Allah struck at the foundation of their building]– Meaning, an affair came to them from its basis and foundation [فَخَرَّ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلسَّقۡفُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ – and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them] -Meaning, so what they built became a punishment for them. [وَأَتَٮٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ – and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive]: Meaning, that is because they thought that such a building will benefit and protect them from punishment, but their punishment occurred from that which they built and established.

This is one the best of parables regarding how Allaah nullifies the plots of his enemies, for indeed they pondered and reflected on that which the Messengers brought when they belied them, made up principles and rules for it based on falsehood, referred back to them to reject that which the Messengers came with, employed tricks to bring discomfort to the Messengers and inflict harm on them and those who followed them, but their plot became a source of evil against them, so their plan became their destruction, because their plot was evil as Allaah said: [ وَلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ – But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it]. [Soorah Faatir: Ayah: 43]

This is in this worldly life and the punishment in the afterlife would be more disgraceful, and due to this Allaah said: [ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ يُخۡزِيهِمۡ – Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them]. [An Excerpt from Tafseer as-Sadi. Slightly paraphrased]

The Haughty Ones In The Earth – Those Who Think That They Are Worthy of Everything- Utilise Fear to Manipulate and Divide and Rule to Control Others In The Worldly Affairs, And How Their Lies Are Gradually Exposed

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, Fir’aun (Pharaoh) exalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening (oppressing) a group (i.e. Children of Israel) among them, killing their sons, and letting their females live. Verily, he was of the Mufsidoon]. [Surah Al-Qasas. Aayah 4]

[وَجَعَلَ أَهۡلَهَا شِيَعً۬ا – and made its people sects]- Meaning: Different group that were organised and distinguished, and he utilised each group in that which he desired in his kingdom. (1)

He made them into sects and different groups to serve him and they went along with what he wanted and obeyed him. (2)

He made them into different distinct groups, dealt with them based on his evil desires and subjugated them as he wanted by means of his power and authority. (3)

He divided them into different sects and they went along with him in everything he desired of evil and corruption, or he used some as a means to get others to obey him; or he made them into different distinct groups under his service and used every group in some type of work, such as construction, tillage, earthwork [drilling etc] and other burdensome work, and whoever did not work was beaten, so they served him by doing so; or he made them into sects and incited hatred and enmity between them, so that they do not come to an agreement [or become united in their stance against him]. (4)

[ إِنَّهُ ۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ – Verily, he was of the Mufsidoon]- Meaning: Those whose intention is neither to rectify the religious nor worldly affairs, and this was from his corrupt behaviour in the earth; (5) committing unlawful killing and being disobedient to Allaah. (6)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The fact that a statement regarding something is lies and falsehood is sometimes known based on the statement in and of itself, its contradictions, perplexity and the manifestation of those clear indications which shows that it is lies. Lies may manifest due to what it is in reality, what is apparent and what is being concealed. It is sometimes known due to the situation of the utterer of the lie, for indeed the one who is known for lying, wickedness and deception, his statements do not show anything else except a state of conformity with his deeds. He does not utter a statement or perform an action similar to that of a pious and truthful person – the one innocent of every evil, deception, lie and wicked behaviour; rather the heart, intention, statements and deeds of the truthful one have the same image; and the heart, statements, deeds and intentions of the liar have the same image. The Difference Between Desire For Righteous Leadership and Pursuit of Leadership For Exaltedness In The Earth

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The difference between the desire for righteous leadership as opposed to merely desiring leadership: It is the difference between exalting the command of Allaah and being sincere to Allaah as opposed to love of exalting oneself and hastening towards the fulfilment of desires. Indeed the one who is sincere to Allaah and exalts Him, he loves that his Lord is obeyed and not disobeyed; [loves that] Allaah’s Word should be uppermost and that all affairs of the religion should be established sincerely for the sake of Allaah, and [that] the servants should obey Allaah’s commands and keep away from what Allaah has forbidden. He is sincere in his servitude to Allaah and sincere to Allaah’s creation in calling them to the path of Allaah. So he loves to be [an upright] leader in the religion; rather he asks his Lord to make him from the leaders of the righteous people who are followed, just as he is a follower of the righteous. Therefore, if this servant -[i.e. this person] who calls to Allaah- loves that he is considered dignified in the eyes [of the people], revered and beloved in their hearts and is one followed amongst them, so that he is trusted by them and they follow the example of the Messenger through him, then this [desire of his] does not harm him; rather he is praised for it. That is because the caller to Allaah loves that Allaah is obeyed and singled out in worship. He loves to be a means by way of which [people] are aided to [obey Allaah, single out Allaah in worship and follow the Messenger]. And due to this, [when] Allaah mentioned those chosen slaves of His- whom He praised in His revelation and will grant the best of reward on the day they meet Him- He mentioned them with the best of their deeds and characteristics, and then said:

[ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبۡ لَنَا مِنۡ أَزۡوَٲجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعۡيُنٍ۬ وَٱجۡعَلۡنَا لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا – And those who say: “Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the pious]. [Surah Al-Furqaan. Verse 74]

So they ask Allaah to grant them the comfort of the eye by making their wives and offspring obedient to Allaah, and to grant them happiness in their hearts due to being followed by the righteous in obedience and servitude to Allaah. That is because a trustworthy leader in the religion co-operates with [others] upon obedience [to Allaah and His Messenger], and that is to call them to [sound] leadership in the religion, whose foundation is patience and certainty, as Allaah [The Most High] said:

[ وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡہُمۡ أَٮِٕمَّةً۬ يَہۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُواْ‌ۖ وَڪَانُواْ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ – And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)]. [Surah as-Sajdah. Verse 24]

Therefore, in their supplication -[in Soorah Al-Furqaan Ayah 74]- to Allaah that He makes them leaders of the righteous people, is that Allaah guides them, grants them success, bless them with beneficial knowledge and righteous actions–outwardly and inwardly–without which [sound] leadership in the religion cannot be achieved.

This is different from [merely] seeking leadership, for indeed its seekers hasten to obtain it in order to achieve their goals, [such as] exaltedness in the earth; enslavement of the hearts to them, attachment to them and aiding them in all their goals, whilst they are exalted and everyone subservient to them. This pursuit of leadership brings about corruption-which none can enumerate except Allaah- such as rebellion, envy, transgression, enmity, oppression, trials, being ardent in defending oneself at the expense of violating the rights of Allaah, exalting those despised by Allaah and belittling those honoured by Allaah. The Religion of Islam is a Perfect Solution for all Problems – By Imaam As-Sadi: [Part 10]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

It (i.e. Islam) is the religion whose adherents – those who established it and embodied its guidance and teachings- gave the hearts access to good with knowledge and sound faith, and they were victorious over the inhabitants of the various regions of the earth through justice, mercy and sincere advice to the human race.

Commentary: The hearts were given access to good through the sciences of this religion and what it calls to through knowledge and sound faith- sound belief in Allaah and everything that Allaah has commanded His servants to believe in. They (i.e. the true adherents to the religion) – by way of their adherence to the religion in belief, worship and good manners – were the ones through whom the hearts were given access to good (by the will of Allaah). Ponder upon this affair based on the statement of Allaah:

[ فَبِمَا رَحۡمَةٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمۡ‌ۖ وَلَوۡ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ ٱلۡقَلۡبِ لَٱنفَضُّواْ مِنۡ حَوۡلِكَ‌ۖ – And by the Mercy of Allah, you (O Muhammad) dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you]. [Surah Aal Imran. Aayah 159]

They gave access to the hearts to reach good through knowledge and sound faith, and they were victorious over the inhabitants of the lands, cities and countries through justice, mercy and sincere advice to the human race (by the will of Allaah). (1)
