Abdullaah Bin Salaam (radiyallaahu-anhu)-- I Wished To Suppress Pride

Muhammad Ibnul Qaasim (rahimahullaah) said:

Abdullaah Bin Handhalah (rahimahullaah) declared that Abdullaah Bin Salaam (radiyallaah-anhu) walked through the Market with a bundle of firewood. So it was said to him (i.e. to Abdullaah): Has Allaah not enriched you? He said: ”certainly, but I wished to suppress pride. I heard the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying: The one who has the weight of a mustard seed of pride in his heart will not enter paradise.” [Siyar A’laam Nubulaa: 2/419]
