Is “There is no shame in the Religion” a valid statement? – Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Uthaymeen was asked about the statement “There is no shame in the religion”

He said -Rahimahullah-

As for the statement there is no shame in the religion, then it is better to say Allah is not ashamed of the Truth; as Umm Sulaym -may Allah be pleased with her- said

O Messenger of Allaah, Allaah is not ashamed of the truth,so is it necessary for a women to make ghusl when she has a wet dream?” Bukhaari

As for the statement “There is no shame in the religion” then this assumes a corrupt meaning.

Because the Messenger of Allah –sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam- said

“Shame/Shyness is from Eemaan” Muslim

Therefore shame and shyness is from the religion.

But if the purpose of the statement “No shame in the religion” is that there is no shame in the affairs of the religion i.e. that you ask (and seek knowledge) about those issues which are (normally) shied away from; then if this was the intent then it is better for him to say:

“Indeed Allah is not ashamed of the truth”

”We do not have except the methodology of the Prophets!” By Shaikh Rabee

Shaikh Rabee [may Allaah preserve him] said:

Indeed swerving away from the methodology of the prophets in calling to Allaah is a swerving and deviation towards misguidance and destruction. That is because Allaah [The Blessed and Most High] laid down and ordained this methodology for all the Prophets.

If the people have Shi-aaraat (i.e. distinguishing principles, doctrines, calls), then we do not have except the Shi-aar (distinguishing principle, doctrine, call) of the Prophets; if the people have methodologies, then we do not have except the methodology of the Prophets (alayhimus salaatu was-salaam). The Qur’aan is the greatest testimony and Allaah has often repeated these testimonies and reiterated them in many of the Aayaat: “And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).” [Soorah An-Nahl: Ayah: 36]

Every Messenger said this to his nation and appeared to his people with this call-the call to Tawheed–and to turn away from Taghut.

Can a menstuating woman wash a deceased person?

Is it permissible for a woman to wash and shroud a deceased person whilst she is on her menses?

Answer:
It is permissible for a menstruating woman to wash deceased women and shroud them. And from the men she can only wash her (dead) husband. Menstruation is not considered a prohibition from washing a dead person for burial. And to Allaah belongs all (bestowal of guidance and ability to perform good deeds).

Ask Allaah for a strong desire in the first and moderation in the second

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Jareer related to us from Layth from Mujaahid from Ibn Abbaas, (that): ”There are two types of people with a strong desire and the strong desire of each one of them will not end—the one who has a strong desire in pursuit of knowledge, his desire will not end.  And the one who has a strong desire in pursuit of the worldly (things, affairs etc.), his desire will not end.”

Our Salaf: Eagerness for knowledge and writing it down

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Wakee related to us from Abee Keeraan who said: I heard Shabee saying: ”If you hear anything, write it down even on a wall.” [1]

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Wakee related to us, (saying): Ubay related to us from Abdullaah Ibn Hanash who said: ”Indeed, I have seen them (i.e. the people) writing on their palms with reeds in Baraa’ah’s presence. [2]

Seclusion with man who performs Ruqya

Question:

What is the verdict–“Going to a man called shaykh who uses the Qu’aan to cure (people); but he recites over women whilst secluding himself with each one of (them). And if the woman’s condition requires (further attention), he makes her stay with him in his house for some days. Indeed, I was from those women, but I have realised with great regret (about such error) and I have sought Allaah’s forgiveness and repented to Him. Give us a verdict (regarding this) and may Allaah reward you and us with all good?

Answer:
The seclusion of a man with a strange woman—(i.e. a woman he is not allowed to free mix with)– is haraam even if that was for the purpose of performing ruqya with the Qur’aan, due to statement of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi- wasallam): “A man does not seclude himself with a (strange) woman except that shaytaan is the third of them”[1] And your seclusion with that man, spending time in the house of that man who is a stranger to you, staying with him in his house for a number of nights and days in seclusion with him–this is a greater danger and a greater crime, because it is from the means to evil and corruption. Therefore, any woman who did the likes of this (action), then it is incumbent upon her to sincerely repent from that and should never repeat the likes of this evil act. And to Allaah belongs all bestowal (of guidance and ability to perform good deeds)
