In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Allaamah Abdullaah Bin Muhammad Bin Humayd (rahimahullaah) said:
Therefore, it is incumbent upon a person to give serious concern to the children under his care because they are a trust. And when you neglect them, then indeed you have betrayed the trust. Allaah (The Most High) said:
يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَخُونُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓاْ أَمَـٰنَـٰتِكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
‘’ O you who believe! Betray not Allah and His Messenger, nor betray knowingly your Amanat (things entrusted to you and all the duties which Allah has ordained for you).’’ [Soorah Anfaal: Ayah: 27]
Therefore, your children are a trust and when you neglect them, then indeed you have betrayed them. It is obligatory upon every one of us to fear Allaah with regards to the (affair) of his children and those under his care. The days go past and the end of a (person’s) life is close, and a person does not know when his life span will suddenly come to (an end). He (the person) must strive to teach his children beneficial knowledge and that he gives them training upon goodness, and nurtures them upon obedience to (Allaah and His Messenger).
“All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. A man is the shepherd of his household and he is responsible for them. A woman is a shepherdess in her husband’s house and she is responsible for her flock.” [End of quote: Source– Al-Fataawaa Wad-Duroos Fil Masjid Al-Haraam: by Al-Allaamah Abdullaah Bin Muhammad Bin Humayd (rahimahullaah): pages: 938-944]
Brothers and sisters may Allaah protect us and our families from the trials and tribulations. Indeed, the two lectures of Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah (may Allaah preserve him and his family) were a tremendous reminder. Brothers and sisters! By Allaah we have a great responsibility in the sight of Allaah. Our children are an amaanah. Say to yourself with honesty: I never knew that I was falling short in such and such affair! And may Allaah reward the one who showed me my shortcomings in order that I may rectify myself.”
Brothers and sisters! Indeed, those two lectures, especially the last one today was filled with reality. O Allaah! Include us amongst those who accept advise and grant us tawfeeq to implement the advice of the good advisers. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi (may Allaah preserve him) said: ‘’Accepting advise and submitting to the truth is from the greatest obligations upon all the Muslims.’’
May Allaah reward Ustaadh Abu khadeejah and his family with abundant good in this life and the next. Aameen. Those two lectures must be obtained and played many times as a reminder.
And Allaah knows best
