The Guessers—Described by Imaam Bukhaari and Imaam Nawawi

Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullaah) said, ‘Chapter:  Learning about the Laws of Inheritance.  Uqbah Bin Aamir said, ”Learn (the laws of Inheritance) before those who depend on Az-Zan (guessing), namely, those who base their judgment on mere presumption.”[1]

Imaam Nawawi (rahimahullaah) stated after this statement of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullaah): ”The meaning of this is (that) you should learn from those who possess true precision, expertise and fear of Allaah before they go away (through death) and then there appears a people who speak about knowledge in conformity with the desires of their souls and with presumptions, which have no (clear or unambiguous) proof in the Islamic legislation. [Arabic Audio] Shaikh Raslaan (hafidha-hullaah) speaks about Al-Allaamah Al-Faqeeh Zayd Ibn Haadi (rahimaullaah)

In this speech Shaikh Raslaan (hafidha-hullaah) quotes beautiful and detailed statements of Zayd (rahimahullaah) found in his explanations of Lum’atul Ittiqaad and Usool Ath-Thalaatha… etc

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali (hafidha-hullaah) says about Shaikh Zayd (rahimahullaah):

Shaikh Rabee (hafidha-hullaah) said:

بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم قبل أنْ نبدأ في الدّرس

ادعوا اللهَ للشَّيخِ زيد المدخليّ رحمه اللهُ، انتقلَ إلى رحمةِ اللهِ ـ إنْ شاء الله ـ

فادعوا اللهَ له،

فقد كان جبلاً في السُّنّة، وفي الدَّعوةِ إلى اللهِ تبارك وتعالى

Supplicate to Allaah for him; Indeed he was a mountain in the Sunnah and in calling to Allaah (The Blessed and Exalted)

[2] Beneficial reminders–Shaikh Zayd (rahimahullaah) said: When a believer reads this Ayah…

Al-Allaamah Al-Faqeeh Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali (rahimahullaah) said:

”When a believer reads this Ayah [i.e. يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ –Allaah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge.  And Allaah is well-Acquainted with what you do] and (the other Aayaat) similar to it, he will love knowledge; seek after it and keep in contact with its people; act upon it, call the people to it and make them have a desire for it. So he benefits himself and Allaah benefits others by way of it.  Thus he follows the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-sallam) in his Dawah and conduct.”

This how they valued a man of Sunnah
