Al-Hasan said: If a statement were to be written in gold, this one should be written (in gold)!
Abdul Maalik Bin Marwaan (rahimahullaah) once gave an eloquent sermon; then he stopped (the sermon) and cried. Then he said: ‘’O my Lord! Indeed my sins are great and indeed (even) a small (part) of your forgiveness is greater than them (i.e. my sins), so wipe away my great sins with (even) a small (part) of your forgiveness.’’ This (statement of Abdul-Maalik) reached Al-Hasan Al-Basri (rahimahullaah), so he cried and said: If a statement were to be written in gold, this one should be written (in gold).
