Types of Boycotting the Qur’aan’ by Imaam Ibnul Qayyim
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: Boycotting the Qur’an is of different types:
*Abandon listening to it.
*Abandon belief in it and not paying attention to it.
*Abandon acting upon it.
*Abandon judging by it in the fundamentals and subsidiary branches of the religion.
*(Claiming) that it does not give certainty.
*(Claiming) that its statements (or wordings) do not lead to knowledge.
*Abandon contemplating upon it.
*Abandon seeking to understand it.
*Abandon acquiring knowledge of what Allaah intends by it and its remedies.
Even though some of these types of boycotting are less serious than others, they are all included in the statement of Allaah: وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا –‘And the Messenger Muhammad will say: ‘’O my Lord! My people deserted this Qur’an’
