[3] Series: Ten Means for the One Seeking Allaah’s Protection against Magic, The Evil Eye and Envy

The third means of (protection): To exercise patience [i.e. whilst facing the harm of the] enemy – neither fighting nor complaining about him (or her), nor reminding oneself of his (or her) harm. The envied person is not given victory against the envier with the likes of (something greater or more effective) than patience. Whenever the envier’s transgression increases, it becomes a powerful (fighting) host for the one who is transgressed against, (and) by way of which the transgressor fights him (or herself) unknowingly. His (or her) transgression is an arrow fired against him (or herself). [Allaah said: وَلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ – But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it (35:43)] [Ref 1]

If the envied person exercises patience and does not transgress, he (or she) will receive a good end by the permission of Allaah.
