When People Complain Unnecessarily -That Enough Is Not Being Done [at Such and Such Salafi Markaz/Masjid], They Either Do Not Know The Past Or They Are Being Unrealistic!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Firstly: Indeed, newcomers cannot be blamed because they only know the present state of affairs. And just as we do not have the precise details regarding the state of affairs in Manchester before we accepted this blessed Manhaj – by the Tawfeeq of Allaah – likewise those who accepted it after us do not have the precise details regarding the state of affairs when we accepted it. The one who is informed of the past state of affairs will not be similar to the one who witnessed them! In this regard, let us once again remind the persistent complainers that when they criticise, saying: ‘’This Masjid or Markaz is doing very little compared to that other Masjid or Markaz’’, they fail to realise that the affair is not merely about doing more or less; rather the affair is about doing what is within the capability of the Masjid/Markaz and community. A Markaz/Masjid with more teachers; surrounded by experienced elders who embraced this blessed Manhaj before all of us; a large community and lessons everyday of the week cannot be compared with other Salafi Masaajid and Maraakiz.

Secondly: Yes indeed! A Muslim is a mirror of another Muslim and whenever we see other Salafiyyoon doubling their efforts in learning, piety and spreading Salafiyyah, we should have Ghibtah and be eager to emulate them; but one should not be oblivious of the fact that everyone has to take steps in accordance with their ability. It is much better to do what one is able to do and being consistent, rather than starting something huge and abandoning it completely in the near future. Therefore, before people complain that little is taking place compared to this or that place, they should take a few moments and ponder upon the state of affairs in the community realistically. That is because if a Masjid/Markaz feels obliged and rushes into affairs without consulting the right people -just because of someone else’s criticisms – there will be regrets and Allaah knows best.

Thirdly: It is the case that complaining unnecessarily makes us forgetful of the other blessings bestowed upon us; for indeed it is a great blessing – in these times- to have a Masjid or Markaz in which neither the followers of the Mubtadi’ah –such as Yahyah al-Hajoori, Al-Halabi, Al-Maribi, Al-Maghraawi – nor followers of the people of clear error- such as Ibraaheem Ar-Ruhayli and those who defend him – are in charge of its affairs! In addition to this, it has lessons regardless how little that is.

Finally: Compare the state of affairs in Manchester in [1995 – 1996] to the present state of affairs! Was there a Salafi Masjid upon clarity when some of us started accepting this blessed Dawah by the Tawfeeq of Allaah?! When some of us-in 1995- first attended a lecture by Ustaadh Amjad Rafiq and Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah at the Manchester University Mosque (Ambrose), there was no Salafi Masjid or Markaz in Manchester. We remember our beloved elder brother [Ismaa’eel As-Senegaali (may Allaah preserve him)] –who had already accepted this blessed Manhaj- approaching us and giving us Dawah; so ask him what the situation was at the time and whether there were any Masaajid and Maraakiz upon clarity! Likewise, our our beloved brother and colleague [Ustaadh Abu Tasneem – Mushaf Al-Banghaali (may Allaah preserve him)] would -from time to time- remind us of the efforts of the elder brothers in the early 90’s and how he was guided to this blessed Manhaj by the Tawfeeq of Allaah.

Indeed, we fear that if we complain unnecessarily and become oblivious of the many blessings we have today compared to the past, we will be held accountable. So we remind the newcomers to return to the Salafiyyoon of the early 90s – those who preceded us in this blessed Manhaj and are still upon clarity – if they wish to know history, for that would be much better than lending an ear to persistent complainers and chronic fault-finders. We ask Allaah to grant us Ikhlaas, Thabaat, Sidq and Husnul Khaatimah Aameen.
