Religious Benefits and Some Natural Tools for Learning By Way of Which a Slave Realises the Greatness and Favours of His Lord

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] says:

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُ ۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِ

وَلِسَانً۬ا وَشَفَتَيۡنِ

وَهَدَيۡنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ

Have We not made for him a pair of eyes. And a tongue and a pair of lips. And shown him the two ways.’’ [Al-Balad: Ayaat: 8-10]

[أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُ ۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِ -Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?][ وَلِسَانً۬ا وَشَفَتَيۡنِ- And a tongue and a pair of lips]; meaning: [pair of eyes, a tongue and two lips] for beautification, sight, speech and other necessary benefits, which are worldly blessings. Then Allaah [The Most High] mentions the religious benefits: [وَهَدَيۡنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ -And shown him the two ways]; meaning: The path of good and the path of evil. Allaah [The Most High] clarified for the human being (the path of) guidance and misguidance. [Ref:1]

Allaah [The Most High] mentioned two eyes by way of which one can see and get acquainted with the visible things; then Allaah [The Most High] mentioned the two paths- the path of good and the path of evil. Then Allaah [The Most High] mentioned a tongue and two lips, and they are organs utilised for learning. Therefore, Allaah [The Most High] mentioned the tools of knowledge and organs that are utilised for learning. And He [The Most High] made them signs by way of which a person can (recognise and acknowledge His favours), His Absolute Power over everything, His Oneness [as the Creator of everything, the only Possessor of Perfect Names and Attributes and the only One Who has the right to be worshipped]. [Ref:2]
