Does Allah Love You? – Shaykh ‘Abdul Mohsin al-‘Abbaad

Does Allah Love You?

Shaykh ‘Abdul Mohsin al-‘Abbaad mentioned in explanation of the verse:

‎قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Aali Imraan: 31)

“Meaning, you have received more than you desired by loving Him, i.e. Allah loves YOU, and this is greater than you loving Him.

Some wise scholars said:

The issue isn’t that you love (Allah), indeed it is only that you are loved (by Allah).

Al-Hasan Al-Basri and other than him from the Salaf said:

A people claimed to love Allah so he tested them with this verse:

‎قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Aali Imraan: 31)

This is why some of the Salaf named this verse: aayatul imtihaan and ikhtibaar (Verse of Examination).

Min Kunooz al-Quraan al-Kareem, Tafseer Aayaat min al-Kitaab al-Azeez ( Kutub wa Rasaa’il ‘Abdul Mohsin vol.1 pg. 196)

Reflect deeply upon these tremendous words and contemplate upon your inner belief or possibly outward claims to love Allah and His Messenger.

Are you worshipping Allah sincerely?

Are you following the prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam) in all possible ways (statements, actions and manners)?

Or are you opposing the commands of Allah and the guidance of His final messenger (alayhis salaatu was salaam)?

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Aali Imraan: 31)

Pathetic Time Wasters on Twitter – [Doubt-Mongers, Rumour-mongers, Guessers etc] – Are Not to Be Entertained

Imaam Maalik [rahimahullaah]:

O, would that I knew! By way of which intellect should the [evidences in the] Qur’aan and Sunnah be determined? Is it that whenever a man who can argue better than another man comes to us we take his statement and abandon the Qur’aan and the Sunnah because of him? [i.e. abandon what is already established by way of sound and unambiguous proofs and take the statement of that person]

Categories of Creation of Man – Shaykh b. Bāz

Categories of Creation of Man – Shaykh b. Bāz

Verily, the likeness of Easa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Aadam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: “Be!” – and he was. (Aali Imraan: 59)

Aadam (alayhis salaam) was created from earth, and Allah revealed (revelation) to him and gave him a legislation to tread upon. Easa (alayhis salaam) was created from a woman without a man, therefore just as it’s not possible to deny (in reality) that Aadam (alayhis salaam) was created from earth, likewise the fact that Easa (alayhis salaam) came from a woman and not a man is not rejected, because in actuality this is easier and simpler than the creation of Aadam (alayhis salaam) from soil – without a father or a mother.

The creation of man is split into four categories:

1. Created from soil without a father or a mother.
2. Created from a man without a woman, and this was Hawwa (Eve), Allah created her from Aadam.

And from him (Aadam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)]. (An-Nisaa: 1)

3. Created from a woman without a man in opposite to the creation of Hawwa, who was created from a man without a woman and Easa was created from a woman without a man, by Allah’s power and ability he created them both with his statement; Be! And then they were created.
4. The rest of mankind (were created) from a man and a woman, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَىٰ
O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female. (Al-Hujuraat: 13)

These are the four categories of creation of mankind, and these are from Allah’s signs indicating His great and vast power and ability, that all He has to say is Be! and it occurs.

[14] Excerpts From Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ – [The Best Inheritance Without Exception]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said: Among the Ahaadeeth narrated about the virtue of knowledge is that which was reported by Abu Ad-Dardaa [radiyallaahu-anhu] that the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “Indeed, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge due to being pleased with what they are doing [i.e. pursuing knowledge]. Indeed, the [creatures] on the earth and the sea seek forgiveness for the scholar, even the fish in the water. And indeed, the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets and the Prophets neither leave behind Deenaar nor Dirham, rather they leave behind knowledge; so, whoever takes hold of it has indeed taken an abundant portion.” [Ref 1]

Whoever takes from this inheritance has indeed taken a great portion. So, it’s all to the good for the one who inherits knowledge from the Prophets –  knowledge of the revelation which Allaah revealed to His noble Prophets- which contains guidance, light, distinction between truth and falsehood, [contains] sound creed, news about paradise and hell, [news] about [good] recompense for those who single out Allaah in worship and [evil] recompense for the polytheists; [news] about [good] recompense for those who obey [Allaah and His Messenger] and [evil] recompense for the wicked disobedient sinners, and other affairs which Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] mentioned in the Books He revealed to His Messengers and Prophets, regarding [sound] belief, acts of worship, deeds and manners. There can’t be a [successful, peaceful etc] life in this worldly life and the afterlife without this inheritance, which Allaah revealed to the Prophets [alayhimus salaatu was-salaam].

Summary of Traps of the Shaytān – Ibn al-Qayyim

Summary of Traps of the Shaytān

The shaytān will attempt to divert you from Allāh’s religion in many different ways, and if he fails with one method, he will continue with a different method, as can be seen by the speech of the Imām ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullāh):

First Trap:

Evil of disbelief, polytheism and enmity to Allāh and His Messenger.

And if he is unable to get you to fall into this trap he goes to the next:

Second Trap:

Evil of Innovation and opposing the Messenger’s Sunnah. And this is a doorway to disbelief and polytheism.

Third Trap:

Evil of Major Sins, with all their various types.

Fourth Trap:

Evil of Minor Sins, which if gathered together it’s possible they will be the cause for a persons destruction.

Fifth Trap:

Evil of Busying Oneself with Permissible Affairs, for which there is no reward and no punishment associated with; however the consequences of this trap is losing out on potential reward by utilising energy and time with affairs that have no reward.

Sixth Trap:

Evil of Busying Oneself with actions of good (المفضول), however by way of performing them, actions which are of greater virtue and reward are not performed (الفاضل).

Finally if the shaytān fails in the aforementioned levels he and his supporters from jinn and mankind don’t cease to attempt to divert you and misguide you from Allāh’s religion, not leaving you, even whilst you are on your death bed.

Summarised & Paraphrased from Badā’i at-Tafsīr al-Jāmi’ li mā Fassarahu al-Imām ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Vol.3 pgs. 452-452

NB: The Shaytān tries to seduce, deceive and trap mankind one level at a time, starting with the most severe and working down. Seek refuge from the accursed Shaytān and be ardent upon the remembrance of Allāh and recitation of legislated supplications.

A Brief Reminder Regarding The Internet

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Question to Shaikh Firkoos [may Allaah preserve him]:

It is permissible to install the internet in one’s house?

The Shaikh [may Allaah preserve him] stated: The internet is from those Wasaa’il [i.e. means] that take the same ruling as their aims. And its distinction from the television is that it is controlled based on choice, with the possibility of using a program that can prevent one from accessing sites of corruption and that which corrupts [people]. The internet is not like television because TV programs are imposed and based on a deliberate action plan- and the entire program is not without a call to debauchery, moral decadence and evil manners; [وَاللهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الفَسَادَ – And Allaah does not like corruption]. [Surah Al-Baqarah’ Aayah 205]

Therefore, the means leading to the best aim is the best means, and the most repugnant aim is connected to the most repugnant means, and there is that which is in between the two. And what remains regarding this affair is the strength of a person’s Eemaan, steadfastness and truthful determination. So, if he is strong in utilising the internet in good, then it is good; but if he fears for the weakness of his Eemaan and [fears] falling into that which Allaah is not pleased with, then he leaves it for the sake of Allaah. [وَمَنْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا للهِ عَوَّضَهُ اللهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهُ -whoever abandons something for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will replace it for him with something better]. [Abridged and paraphrased. People Are Never to Be Judged Merely Due to Smart or Scruffy Appearances, Statuses Or Closeness to Important Personalities In Society, Rather Piety Is The Judge

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said:

رُبَّ أَشْعَثَ مَدْفُوعٍ بِالأَبْوَابِ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لأَبَرَّهُ

‘’Many a person with dishevelled hair and covered with dust is turned away from the doors (whereas) were he to swear by Allaah (about something), Allaah will fulfil it’’. [Sahih Muslim Number 2622]

A Short Reminder From This Hadeeth By Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him]:

This person is a close friend among the close friends of Allaah, and was he to swear by Allaah [about something]; Allaah will make it happen due to his high status in the sight of Allaah, even though he is driven away from the doors. If he intercedes (for someone), his intercession will not be accepted; if he is absent, he is not missed, but he is a great one in the sight of Allaah. [Ref 1]

A Short Reminder From This Hadeeth By Imaam An-Nawawi [rahimahullaah]:

This type of person is one whom the people drive away from their doors in humiliation- he has no status in the sight of the people; but he is someone that if he were to swear by Allaah about something, Allaah will make it happen as an honour for him- by answering his request and safeguarding him from sin in relation to his oath. This is due to his great station in the sight of Allaah (The Exalted), even though he is someone despised in the sight of the people. It is said that the meaning of [الْقَسَمِ in this hadeeth is (الدُّعَاءُ – supplication) and (إِبْرَارُهُ   ) means (إِجَابَتُهُ   -the response to the supplication)] [Ref 2]

[13C]: Excerpts From Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm-[The Destructive Consequences of Riyaa And What to Do When One Senses That His Soul Is Inclined Towards Riyaa And Bragging About Knowledge]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

It is reported in a hadeeth that the first to be thrown into the hell fire are three [types] of people:

The first person: A man who died as a martyr; so, he will be brought forward and Allaah will remind him of the favours bestowed upon him and he will acknowledge them. Then Allaah will ask him, ‘’What did you do with that?’’ The man will say, ‘’I fought for Your Cause till I was martyred.’’ Allaah will say, ‘’You have lied. You fought so that people might call you courageous and it has been said”. Then the command will be given about him and he will be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell.”

[So], the people used to praise him and said, “He is a Mujaahid, a hero, a brave person etc…” They gave him these titles; but did it benefit him? Nay! By Allaah, indeed he brought destruction upon himself due to his desire for these praises which can neither bring [him anything good] nor avail [him] against anything. By Allaah, if all the people of the Dunyaa praised you for being brave and fearless, whilst you did not desire Allaah’s  Countenance, then neither will it benefit you in anything nor protect you from the anger of Allaah, nor His painful punishment. What is the reason behind this [person’s evil end]? He performed Jihaad, risked his life and spent his wealth till he was killed, however this was his destination [i.e. the fire of hell]; what led him to this destruction? He was not sincere to Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted].

Allaah said:

And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him. [Surah Al-Bayyinah’ Aayah 5]

The second person: He acquired knowledge and taught [others], so he will be brought forward and Allaah will remind him of the favours bestowed upon him and he will acknowledge them. Then Allaah will ask him, ‘’What did you do with that?’’  He will say, ‘’I acquired knowledge and taught it, and I read the Qur’an for Your sake.’’ Allaah will say to him, ‘’`You have lied; rather you recited the Qur’aan so that it is said, ‘He is a reciter’ and you acquired knowledge so that it is said, ‘He is a scholar.’ Take him to the hell fire; then he will be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell.”

Allaah’s refuge is sought! What destroyed him? It was Riyaa and lack of sincerity to Allaah [The Lord of the Aalameen]. O youth! Be mindful of shaytaan who is next to you. Seek Allaah’s protection against his destructive evil whispers. [Allaah (The Most High) said]: [وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِ نَزۡغٌ۬ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِ‌ۖ إِنَّهُ ۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ – And if an evil whisper from Shaitan (Satan) tries to turn you away (O Muhammad) (from doing good, etc.), then seek refuge in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower]. [Surah Fussilat’ Aayah 36]

If you sense that your soul is inclined towards showing off to the people and bragging about knowledge, then turn to Allaah, lower and humble yourself in His presence, ask Him to grant you sincerity and to save you from shaytaan – to save you from his whispers and plots. One of the scholars said, “Indeed, it is extremely difficult [upon a person] whose enemy can see him, but he cannot see him.” He [i.e. this scholar] said this when he explained the statement of Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] about shaytaan and his armies:

[إِنَّهُ ۥ يَرَٮٰكُمۡ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُ ۥ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا تَرَوۡنَہُمۡ‌ۗ – Verily, he and (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. [Surah Al-A’raaf’ Aayah 27]

He [i.e. that scholar] said, ‘’By Allaah! Indeed, it’s a bitter feud and extreme difficulty [for the one] whose enemy can see him, but he cannot see him, except for the one whom Allaah safeguards’’- meaning: This enemy is more dangerous than the army you can see that has troops and strength.  This hidden enemy – whom you cannot see – is extreme difficulty and will destroy you whilst you are unaware and unable to see him. We ask Allaah for well-being.

The third person: A generous person who spent his wealth openly in good; so, he will be brought forward and Allaah will remind him of the favours bestowed upon him and he will acknowledge them. Allaah will ask him, ‘’What did you with that?’’ He will say, ‘’I did not neglect any of the paths You liked wealth to be spent, except that I spent in that path.’’ Allaah will say to him, ‘’You have lied; rather you did so that people might call you generous and it has been said’’. Then the command will be given, and he will be dragged and thrown into Hell.”

If you spent an amount of gold that fills the Dunyah – spent openly in the paths of Jihaad [ref 1], building mosques, and in this and that [path], but you did not desire Allaah’s Countenance, then indeed Allaah knows the hidden evil of it [i.e. lack of sincerity]. This wealth you have spent will never benefit you nor will it avail you against anything; rather it will be a source of evil upon you, and Allaah’s refuge is sought.

I emphasised this affair because it is a dangerous affair. Therefore, evoke the greatness of Allaah [in your heart]. O Miskeen! know that- by Allaah – if you gathered the knowledge of the early and later generations, your knowledge will not be equal to a driblet [of knowledge] compared to the knowledge of Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted]. Therefore, lower yourself in the presence of Allaah’s Greatness, humble yourself to Allaah and know that over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing [Allaah].

Seek After Lawful Earnings And Do Not Spill Even a Handful of Blood – [Jundub Advised The People]

The people said to Jundub [radiyallaahu-anhu], “Advise us.” He said: “The first thing of the human body to putrefy is the abdomen, so he who can eat nothing but good food [halaal and earned lawfully] should do so, and he who does as much as he can that nothing intervenes between him and paradise by not shedding even a handful of blood [i.e. unlawful killing], should do so.”

Bukhaari 7152

There Should Be No Injustice Against Even Your Staunchest Rivals!

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

[Surah Al-Maa’idah’ Aayah 8]
