[31] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ – [Knowledge of Fiqh, Memorisation of The Qur’aan And Hadeeth Will Not Benefit In The Presence of Shirk]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

By Allaah neither Fiqh nor other than it will have any value if we’re deprived of [sound] Aqeedah and Tawheed and thus fall into Shirk. If we were to memorise the Qur’aan, the Hadeeth and the books of Fiqh, whilst falling into the darkness of Shirk, we’ll not be benefitted by this knowledge [of Fiqh etc]. Therefore, neither will we benefit from the Qur’aan nor from all other sciences of the religion, unless we establish the pillars of Tawheed and destroy the foundations of Shirk from its roots. [See link to be reminded or acquainted with the fact that without Tawheed, nothing else will benefit a person: http://www.abukhadeejah.com/ahmad-an-najmees-kitaab-at-tawheed-chapter-3-fear-of-falling-into-shirk/]

[30] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’- [Fleeing from Usury, Fornication and Other Sins Is a Great Act of Obedience to Allaah, But Must Be Accompanied By Tawheed Otherwise One Will Not Be Saved from The Hell Fire]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

If we flee from usury, fornication and other sins, this would be considered an act of worship performed out of obedience to Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted], but- by Allaah- neither will it save us from the fire nor entitle us to the intercession of the Noble Messenger unless we [die upon] Tawheed [as well]. Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu-ahu] asked the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam], ‘’O Allaah’s Messenger! Who will be [happiest person-i.e. the one protected from evil and given success] to gain your intercession on the Day of Resurrection?’’ Allaah’s Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, ‘’O Abu Hurairah! I have thought that none will ask me about it before you, as I know your eagerness to learn hadeeth. The [happiest person] who will gain my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said sincerely from [the bottom] of his [or her] heart that ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah.’’ [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari’ Hadeeth Number 99]

Therefore, has this person – the one who invokes [or supplicates to] others besides Allaah, performs animal sacrifice to others besides Allaah, seeks deliverance and rescue from others besides Allaah [Ref 2], performs Tawaaf around graves [Ref 3] and believes that the Awliyaa can harm and benefit someone [Ref 4]- testified truthfully from the bottom of his heart that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah? By Allaah, he [or she] has not has not done so truthfully, because he [or she] says that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah but invokes such and such person and offers animal sacrifice for their sake as an act of worship. This destroys the meaning of ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah.’ [Ref 1. Read the conditions of the Shahaadah at the end of the article]

———————————————————————————————————-

Ref 1: Conditions of the Shahaadah: http://www.abukhadeejah.com/the-muslim-testimony-of-faith-shahadah-and-its-conditions-islam-2-2/

Ref 2. Du’aa [invocation/supplication]: Your Lord says: O people, invoke Me and supplicate to Me making your worship sincerely for Me alone, and I will answer you, and pardon you and have mercy upon you. Indeed those who disdain to worship Me alone will enter Hell-Fire in disgrace.” [Soorah Ghaafir (40):60]

So the noble Aayah proves that invocation/supplication (du’aa) is worship, and if that were not the case it would not be said “those who disdain to worship Me alone….” So, whoever called upon anyone besides Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, requesting something which none but Allaah has power over, then he is a one who worships others besides Allaah, an unbeliever, whether the one he calls upon is living or dead. [Refer this link regarding Takfeer & excuse of ignorance by Sh Fawzaan, Sh Uthaymeen and others http://www.manhaj.com/manhaj/articles/obkwf-takfir-and-the-excuse-of-ignorance-shaykh-saalih-al-fawzaan.cfm]

Whoever requests a living person for something which he is able to do, such as the saying: ‘O so and so give me food’ or ‘O so and so give me a drink,’ then there is no harm in that. But whoever asks a dead person or someone who is absent for that, then he is a one who worships others besides Allaah, since the deceased or the absent cannot possibly do that. So, in such a case his supplicating to them shows that he believes that they have some control over the creation, and he is therefore one who worships others besides Allaah.

Adh-Dhab [Animal sacrifice]: Sacrifice is to kill by spilling the blood of the animal in a particular manner, and is done for a number of reasons:

[A] That it is done as an act of worship, such that he intends by it veneration of the one for whom he sacrifices, and intends it as an act of submission to him and a means of nearness to him. So, this may not be done except for Allaah, the Most High, and has to be done in the manner which Allaah, the Most High, has prescribed. Directing it to other than Allaah is major shirk and the evidence (as mentioned by the author) is the Saying of Allaah, the Most High, “Say, O Muhammad, indeed my Prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are all purely and solely for Allaah, Lord of all creation. There is no share of any of that for other than Him’ [Soorah al-An’aam (6):162-3]

[B]That it is done out of hospitality for the guest, or for as wedding feast (waleemah) or the like, then this is something commanded, either as an obligation or a recommendation, as he said “Whoever truly believes in Allaah and the Last Day, then let him treat the guest honourably” [Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. transl. 8/99/no. 156) and Muslim (Eng. transl. 3/935/no. 4286)]. He [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said to ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn ‘Auf, “Give a wedding, feast (waleemah) even if it is only with a single sheep” [Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. transl. 7/72/no.96)].

[C]That it is done to provide food charitably, or to sell the meat and so on, then this falls under that which is permissible and is in principle according to the Saying of Allaah, the Most High, “Do those mushriks who worship others along with Allaah not see that We have created for them, from what our Hands have created, cattle which they are in charge of, and We have made the cattle subservient to them: so from them are those which they eat the meat of.” [Soorah Yaa Seen (36):71-2]

Furthermore, it may be something desirable or prohibited depending upon what it leads to.

Al-Isti’ghaatha [seeking deliverance and rescue]: Al-istighaathah is to seek rescue and deliverance from severe difficulty and destruction, and is of various types:

[A] Seeking deliverance and rescue from Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, is one of the most excellent and most perfect deeds, and it was the continual practice of the messengers and their followers. The evidence for it is what the Shaykh [ie. Shaikh Uthaymeen ( rahimahullaah) mentioned: “When you sought aid and deliverance of your Lord and He responded to you that He was sending you a thousand angels in succession to assist you.” [Soorah al-Anfaal (8):9]

This occurred at the battle of Badr when the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saw the mushriks numbering a thousand men, whist his companions were a few more than three hundred and ten. So he entered the palm grove calling earnestly upon his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, raising up his hands and facing the qiblah, and saying: “O Allaah fulfil that which You have promised me. O Allaah if this small group who are the people of lslaam are destroyed you will not be worshipped upon the earth.” Then he continued calling upon his Lord earnestly, with his hands raised such that his cloak fell from his shoulders. So Aboo Bakr, radiyallaahu ‘anhu, took up his cloak and cast it back upon his shoulders and embraced him from behind and said: “O Prophet of Allaah, your earnest supplication to your Lord will be sufficient for you since he will fulfil what He has promised you,” so this Aayah was sent down. [Reported by Muslim (Eng. transl. 3/960/no.4360)]

[B] Seeking rescue and deliverance, either from the dead or from those who are living but are not present and able to give aid and rescue, then this is shirk. This is so because it will not be done except by one who believes that those people have some unseen control over the creation, and they have therefore attributed to them a share of the Lordship that is for Allaah, the Most High, alone. Allaah, the Most High, says, “Or is that which you falsely worship along with Allaah better than He Who responds to the one in distress when he calls Him; who removes the harm; and who makes you to succeed those who came before you?! Is there anything that is worshipped besides Allaah that can do these things for you?! Little do you consider the greatness of Allaah and His favours upon you, and the clear proofs He has given you, so you therefore associate others in worship with Him.” [Soorah an-Naml (27):62]

[C] Seeking aid and rescue from those who are alive, aware of the situation and capable of assistance and rescue. It is permissible to seek aid and rescue from them: Allaah, the Most High, says in the story of Moosaa: “So the man who was upon the same Religion as Moosaa sought the aid of Moosaa against his enemy the copt, so Moosaa struck him forcefully and killed him.” [Soorah al-Qasas (28):15]

[D] Seeking rescue and aid from a living person who is not capable of assisting him, without believing that he has some hidden power. For example that a drowning person calls for rescue from a person who is paralysed. This is futility and is a mockery of the one whom he seeks rescue from, and is therefore prohibited for this reason. A further reason for its prohibition is that anyone who saw him seeking rescue from the paralysed man may be deceived into thinking that the paralysed man must have some hidden power enabling him to rescue people. Ref 4. None can bring harm or benefit except Allaah alone:

Allaah [The Most High] said:

[وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلَا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ – And if Allah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will. (10:106)]

The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said to Ibn Abbaas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa], ‘’Know that even if the Nation [or the whole community] were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you with anything except that which Allah has already decreed for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with something, they would not be able to harm you with anything except that which Allah has already decreed against you.

If a servant actualises Tawheed, then indeed fear of other than Allaah will be removed from his heart. His enemy will be the weakest thing to him let alone something to be feared alongside his fear of Allaah. He will fear Allaah alone (and none else).

He will find that his thoughts about his enemy, fear of his enemy and busying himself with the affair of his enemy is due to a deficiency in his [belief in] Tawheed, because had he being perfecting (his belief in) Tawheed, it would have been the uppermost thing in his mind (or his main concern) and Allaah is the One Who will protect and defend him; for indeed Allaah defends those who (truly) believe. If a person is a (true) believer Allaah will defend him based on the level (or strength of) his belief (in Allaah). Tawheed is the greatest shield and whoever embraces it will be amongst those who are safeguarded. Some of the Salaf said, “Whoever truly fears Allaah, everything will fear him; and whoever does not fear Allaah, Allaah will make him fear everything. [29] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ -[The Loftiest Station In The Entire Universe]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The Muslims must be acquainted with the knowledge of Tawheed and Shirk. Shirk [i.e. to associate partners to Allaah in worship] is the gravest sin that can be committed in disobedience to Allaah. The Prophets brought the greatest [aspect] of knowledge, which is the knowledge of Tawheed, and they warned against the greatest wrong doing, which is to associate partners to Allaah. [Allaah said]: [ إِنَّ ٱلشِّرۡكَ لَظُلۡمٌ عَظِيمٌ۬ – Verily! Associating partners to (Allaah in worship) is a great wrong indeed] [Surah Luqmaan’ Aayah 13]

This is an affair which many of the callers to Islaam have turn away from at present and do not give it importance. The knowledge of Tawheed is the first thing they snub and flee from; [and likewise] Shirk is the first thing they decline [to address] when seeking to guide the Ummah. Neither do they warn the people nor caution them against this greatest danger known to mankind [i.e. Shirk]. Tawheed is the greatest [knowledge] brought by Prophets as glad tidings, but they [i.e. many of the callers] do not convey it; rather the greatest affair to them is modern politics.

The knowledge of Tawheed is the affair by way of which this Ummah is distinguished [in all virtuous traits] – sincerity in worshipping Allaah alone, purifying all the Islamic [arenas, sources of knowledge, practices, views, thoughts, places, aims, goals etc] from the filth and impurity of Shirk. Neither is there anything more impure [i.e. corrupts the heart, deeds, manners, thoughts, ideas, intentions, goals, aims etc] nor filthier than shirk, so why do we not purity the Ummah from this impurity and filth? Why do those [many] callers to Islaam deliberately feign ignorance of this impurity, in which the people wander blindly and belittle its severity, even though there is nothing equal to its [filthiness and impurity]?

It is obligated on the Muslims to free themselves from the filth of shirk and sincerely worship Allaah alone, so that they become the cleanest people and purest [i.e. in creed, deeds, thoughts, views, intentions, goals, aims etc]. And through this, they will be distinguished [in every virtuous trait].

If the mosques of the Muslims in the Islamic world are filled with graves- even though the Messenger severely cursed those who turn graves into places of worship- and those [many] callers to Islaam have not taken any steps to confront this filthy practice, then there can be no betrayal and deception -against the ummah- greater than this. [Allaah said]: [إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡتُمُونَ مَآ أَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلۡهُدَىٰ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا بَيَّنَّـٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ فِى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ‌ۙ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ يَلۡعَنُہُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَلۡعَنُہُمُ ٱللَّـٰعِنُونَ – Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers. [Surah Al-Baqarah’ Aayah 159]

The greatest clear proofs are Tawheed and the guidance that will remove the people from shirk. Therefore, O callers to Islaam! Fear Allaah. Safeguard the Muslims from this greatest danger and raise them to the highest station in this worldly life – the station of Tawheed; for [indeed] there is no station loftier than the station of Tawheed. Tawheed is the greatest station in the entire universe and shirk is the lowest.

[28] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ – [Everyone Has to Seek Knowledge of The Sharee’ah, Including Doctors, Engineers etc]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

O youth! O Muslims! It is incumbent upon us to [seek] the knowledge which Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] brought [to mankind and Jinn]. It is incumbent upon all of us – the medical doctor, the engineer and the one who is specialised in the field of chemistry –  to take part in [acquiring this knowledge]. We must acquire at least the Fard Ayn, because knowledge is categorised into two categories: Fard Ayn and Fard Kifaayah. It is incumbent upon every individual to acquire that aspect of knowledge which is Fard Ayn.

Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ page 100. abridged and slightly paraphrased

Fard Ayn: Obligated on every single person who has reached the age of puberty and is sane [e.g. Tawheed, Salaah etc]

Fard Kifaayah: a communal obligation; but if fulfilled by some, the rest of the people are absolved of responsibility [e.g.  funeral prayer etc]

A Wise Man Never Engages In Fruitless Debate, Rather He Only Conveys Wisdom- By Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Al-Barbahaaree [rahimahullaah] said that Al-Hasan [al-Basree] said, ‘The wise man does not argue or seek to overcome with stratagem rather he propagates his wisdom.  If it is accepted, he praises Allah and if it is rejected he praises Allah'[1]

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on the above statement saying: Concerning the statement of Imaam Barbahaaree that Hasan al-Basree said: ‘The wise man does not argue or seek to overcome with stratagem….’

Al-Hasan Al-Basree:  He is Al-Hasan Ibnu Abil Hasan Al-Basree the well-known Imaam from amongst the Taaýbiýeen. He said: ‘’The wise man’, that is the one who possesses wisdom, and wisdom is to place something in its [proper] place.  Likewise, the wise one means the one with understanding.

Therefore, two meanings are intended by Al-Hakeem (the wise one); the first intended meaning is one who places the affairs in their [proper] place and it is also intended to mean the one who has understanding, because wisdom is understanding and knowledge of what is intended by Allah and His Messenger [i.e. the understanding of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger].

‘He does not argue; he does not debate [with] a fruitless debate that is devoid of benefit. ‘’He does not seek to overcome with stratagem; he does not seek to overcome the people of falsehood with stratagem and to make them submit.  ‘His wisdom’, that is he propagates his knowledge and if accepted he praises Allah.  This is what is sought after.  And if it [i.e. his knowledge/wisdom] is not accepted, he is absolved of his responsibility and the proof is conveyed.

And concerning the statement, ‘He praises Allah’ because he established and conveyed the proof, and fulfilled that which is required of him, and the guiding of the hearts is in the hands of Allah (Glorified and Exalted Be He). [2]

[27] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ -[The Worldly Sciences Become a Trial And Tribulation If They Are Not Placed Below (and Regulated By) The Knowledge of The Prophets]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

We must know the value of this [sharee’ah] knowledge in our possession, which many people deliberately ignore and seek to degrade its value. They do not consider this knowledge to be anything, and those who study the sciences of the Sharee’ah – in their view- are deficient and unadvanced [or unprogressive] because they do not possess knowledge of medicine and engineering. If medicine, engineering and chemistry are not placed below [and regulated by] the knowledge which the Prophets brought, they become nothing; [rather] they will only increase the people in corruption. The knowledge brought by the Prophets is [a means of] rectification for the people [in their religious and worldly affairs], a guide for them towards the right path and removes them from the darkness they are living in – the darkness of kufr and ignorance.

As for the knowledge of the philosophers and the heretics, then what Allaah has stated [i.e. in Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83] truly applies to it. [Allaah said]: [فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَہۡزِءُونَ -Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad [and proud] with that which they had of the knowledge [of worldly things]: And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them [i.e. the punishment]. [Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83]

It is the knowledge which the people boast about nowadays, whether it is medicine, engineering, astronomy, [modern] politics and economics. After the Prophets came to them – to remove them from the darkness of ignorance and enter them into the light of the knowledge [of divine revelation] and Eemaan- they became glad and boastful with the knowledge they possess, [just as Allaah has stated]:

[فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَہۡزِءُونَ -Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad [and proud] with that which they had of the knowledge [of worldly things]: And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them [i.e. the punishment]. [Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83]

[Likewise, Allaah informed us that] Qaaroon said: [إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عِندِىٓ‌ۚ – This [i.e. vast wealth] has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess. [Surah Al-Qasas’ Aayah 78]

They [i.e. the people] rebuke him [i.e. Qaaroon] because he did not want to spend from his wealth based on what Allaah has commanded and Allaah’s revelation, so Allaah said that he said: [إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عِندِىٓ‌ۚ  – This [i.e. vast wealth] has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess. [Surah Al-Qasas’ Aayah 78]

Lkewise, Allaah said: [وَإِذَآ أَنۡعَمۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ أَعۡرَضَ وَنَـَٔا بِجَانِبِهِ – And when We bestow Our Grace on man (the disbeliever), he turns away and becomes arrogant, far away from the Right Path. [Surah Al-Israa’ Aayah 83]

[Allaah said]: [ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلۡنَـٰهُ نِعۡمَةً۬ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭ‌ۚ بَلۡ هِىَ فِتۡنَةٌ۬ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ  – Then when We have (rescued him from that harm and) changed it into a favour from Us, he says: “Only because of knowledge (that I possess) I obtained it.” Nay, it is only a trial, but most of them know not! [Surah Az-Zumar’ Aayah 49]

Allaah said that he [i.e. the ungrateful human being says after being rescued from hardship]: [قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭ‌ۚ  – he says: “Only because of knowledge (that I possess) I obtained it]; but Allaah said: [ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ – Nay, it is only a trial, but most of them know not!]

These sciences become a trial and tribulation if they are not placed below [and regulated by] the knowledge which Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] brought.

Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ pages99-100. Abridged & slightly paraphrased

[26] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ – [Why The Presence of Widespread Moral Decline Despite Presence of The Numerous Worldly Sciences?!]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said:

Allaah sent Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] to remove humankind from the darkness [of ignorance, shirk, kufr etc] and enter them into the light [of Eemaan, Tawheed, Upright Guidance etc]. [Allaah said]:

Alif-Laam-Raa; [This is] a Book which We have revealed unto you [O Muhammad] in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness [of disbelief and polytheism] into light [of belief in the Oneness of Allah and Islamic Monotheism]. [Surah Ibraaheem’ Aayah 1]

Indeed, a great part of this [affair] has been accomplished, for Allaah has removed nations from the darkness of ignorance, shirk and kufr. This knowledge of the [sharee’ah] is the only source of knowledge that will remove the people from the darkness of [ shirk, kufr, misguidance etc] and enter them into the light of [Eemaan, Tawheed, guidance etc].

These numerous [worldly] sciences – which many people are acquainted with – cannot remove humankind from darkness, [rather] it has only increased them in darkness upon darkness. These [worldly] sciences, inventions and the various types of specialized fields of [worldly knowledge], such as medicine, engineering, chemistry, has only increased the people in ignorance upon ignorance, misguidance upon misguidance, arrogance and rebelling against the truth with pride and oppression in the earth.  They have not been guided to the light of the revelation, for had they embraced this revelation brought by Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], they would have been removed from this destructive darkness in which they live.

By Allaah! Humankind have not [morally] declined in previous eras in a manner that is similar to this era -which they refer to as the era of knowledge- because they have not embraced the knowledge brought by Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], and thus have only increased in ignorance upon ignorance, darkness upon darkness, iniquity upon iniquity, and corruption upon corruption. [Allaah said]:

ظَهَرَ ٱلۡفَسَادُ فِى ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ أَيۡدِى ٱلنَّاسِ

Evil (sins and disobedience of Allah, etc.) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and evil deeds, etc.) [Surah Ar-Rum’ Aayah 41]

Corruption has not appeared on land and sea [in the past] in a manner that is similar to the [corruption] in this era! An ignorant person boasts and says, “This is the era of knowledge and light”, yet it is an era of darkness. You see them behaving like animals and living a life that is lower than the lives of monkeys as a result of depravity and shamelessness, due to being ignorant of the knowledge of the [sharee’ah] and distanced from it, wandering blindly in the darkness of that life which they think is based on knowledge and the era they regard to be one of advancement, even though they are living in an era of moral decline. So, neither will they be [truly] elevated nor will they [truly] advance, except through the knowledge brought by Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam].

[25] Excerpts from Shaikh Rabee’s Book Titled ‘Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ – [Why Is That There Is No Blessing in This Dunyaa Greater Than the Knowledge Brought by The Messengers?]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] said:

He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad ) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur’an, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad ). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error. [Surah al-Jumu’ah’ Aayah 2]

They used to be in manifest misguidance – in the ignorance of the [most] ignorant people -, so Allaah sent-among them- Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] with this Book [i.e. The Qur’aan] and this Wisdom – the [authentic] Sunnah. Neither have they been favoured with [all the blessings] of this  Dunyaa nor anything from this Dunyaa [that is better] than the [arrival of] this Messenger [i.e. Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasalla)] and this knowledge of [the Sharee’ah] he brought- through which they are taught [the Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence], purified from the filth of shirk and ignorance, and the misguidance they blindly wandered in.

There is no blessing bestowed upon a human being that is better than the [unadulterated] Knowledge brought by the Messengers, because the well-being and happiness of a person [in this life and the next] is underpinned by this knowledge. Their safety from the fire of hell, exit from the darkness [of the misguidance in life] – in which they live – and the darkness of ignorance, cannot be [achieved] except through the light of the [unadulterated] knowledge which Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] revealed to the Prophets; and the best of Prophets was Muhammad [alayhis salaatu wassalaam] and his Message is the best of the all the messages. Allaah sent Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] to remove humankind -completely – from the darkness [of shirk, kufr, misguidance etc] and [enter them] into the light [of Eemaan, Tawheed, guidance etc]. [Allaah said]:

(This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you (O Muhammad) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allah and Islamic Monotheism). [Surah Ibraaheem’ Aayaat 1-2]

Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ pages 96 – 97. abridged and slightly paraphrased

Sharing a Reminder From a Brother: Let Not a Day Goes by Except That We Are Certain That Our Parents Are Well, Safe and Happy, And Let Us Beware of Shaytaan When He Whispers Saying, ‘’You Are Busy with Work Today and Your Parents Are Ok, So Contact Them Tomorrow’’

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Indeed, brothers and sisters our parents are a great gift from Allaah. They nurtured us and continue to supplicate for us. If our parents – whether they Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus etc- live in the same city, then that is a great blessing because serving them would be very easy. However, if they live far away or in another country with other family members, then let not a day goes by except that we are certain that they are OK. Let us beware of shyataan when he whispers to us, saying, ‘’Today, you have too much work to do and you are also busy with the kids. Your parents must be ok otherwise you would have been contacted immediately!’’

Yesterday [05/01/18] a brother -whose parents live in another country with other family members- contacted his parents to enquire about their welfare, so the father said: Alhamdulil laah we are all ok. Hope you’re all in good health in spite of the cold weather.’’

Today [06/01/18], the brother contacted his father to find out about their welfare again, so the father said: Wa alaykum salaam, I’ve been down with a bad stomach since yesterday evening.  My doctor came to the house last night and gave me some medication. It’s slowly getting better but not completely yet.’’

As for the mother, even though she spoke to the son on the phone, she never revealed that she was not feeling well. After speaking to the son on the phone, she texted saying: ‘’Just didn’t want to worry you, but I was unwell for the past two weeks. After the tonsillitis, I had stomach ache for a whole week. I was so weak and can hardly walk properly. I did not even tell your sister just not to get u guys worried thousands of miles away. On the 1st of January, I was in bed the whole day. Anyway, am much better now and back on my feet. Old age is not easy, but Alhamdulil-laah, your other siblings are around and wallaahi they are good people and do take care of me when am ill. I thank you all for always being concerned about my health and welfare. May Allah reward you all. Take care my son and my salams to all.’’ [End of quote]

Brothers and sisters, never should we be that busy to the extent that we forget to enquire about the welfare of our parents. We ask Allaah to forgive us our shortcomings and grant our parents abundant mercy Aameen. Indeed, we can never do enough to pay them back what they truly deserve.
