Why Do Scholars Have Special Students - [By Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh [hafidhahullaah] said:

Whenever you have more humility in the path of seeking knowledge based on the [guidance of the] Sharee’ah, the scholar becomes more devoted to you [i.e. pays closer attention to your needs]. This is why you find that many of the scholars have a special student [or special students], because he [i.e. that special student] employs good manners when speaking, dealing and walking with the Shaikh; so, the Shaikh trusts him, devotes [more time and effort to him] in knowledge, gives him [more] knowledge which others are not given, [shares his] life experiences related to [seeking] knowledge, his experiences with the scholars and his [experiences] related to [both general and specific] state of affairs. [Sharh Al-Arba’een. Pages 21-22. Slightly paraphrased]
