In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said:

وَلَا تَمۡشِ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَحًا‌ۖ إِنَّكَ لَن تَخۡرِقَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَلَن تَبۡلُغَ ٱلۡجِبَالَ طُولاً۬

And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height. [Surah Al-Israa’ Aayah 37]

Neither can you rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains, so how can you be arrogant?!! You a human being – weak and in need; even a tiny thing can end your life. A fly can end your life, so why are you arrogant?! What right do you have to be rude and arrogant towards the people?! [تِلۡكَ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلۡأَخِرَةُ نَجۡعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّ۬ا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فَسَادً۬ا‌ۚ وَٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ – That home of the Hereafter [i.e. Paradise], We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqoon]. [Surah Al-Qasas’ Aayah 83]

The home of the afterlife [i.e. paradise] is prepared for those who are humble for the sake of Allaah, and whoever humbles himself for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will raise him. Allaah hates the arrogant people. [An Excerpt from Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm. Page 220/ slightly paraphrased]
