A Severe Warning Against Inclining Towards Wrongdoers
Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [hafidhahullaah] said: Allaah said:
وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ
And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped. (Hud: 113)
[Do not] incline towards the oppressors, those who oppress the people, (shedding) their blood, (stealing) their wealth and (violating) their honour, or they oppress the people in their religion by way of religious innovations and various forms of misguidance, dissemination of dangerous propaganda and calls that oppose Islam. Do not incline towards anyone from these type of people. Do not aid him and do not help him with his falsehood. The verse includes all of these types (of oppressors). Every follower of falsehood is an oppressor and every innovator is an oppressor. [Ref 1]

A Warning Against Al-Jazeerah Channel
Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] said:
Al-Jazeera channel [news] has a lot of evil and it contains Tahreesh [incitement, provocation, instigation]. They bring people who speak about the religion in a haphazard manner – in the affairs of fiqh; declaring unlawful that which Allaah has made lawful and declaring lawful that which Allaah has made unlawful in their Fataawaa. This is a severe danger. There is extreme evil in listening to or watching it…. Paraphrased…listen here:

Advice to Journalists:
A Warning Regarding What One Utters or Writes
Allaah [The Exalted] said:
And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). [Surah Qaaf. Aayaat 16-18]
Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu) said that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, ‘’A slave (of Allaah) may utter a word which pleases Allaah, without giving it much importance, and because of that Allaah will raise him to degrees (of reward); a slave (of Allaah) may utter a word (carelessly) which displeases Allaah, without thinking of its gravity, and because of that he will be thrown into the Hell-fire.’’ [Saheeh al-Bukhaari Number 6478]
Whoever Commits Three Affairs Will Be Hunted By Them – By Imaam Ibn Qutaybah [rahimahullaah]
It used to be said that whoever perpetrates these three acts will be haunted by them:
 Rebellion against Allaah’s commandments.
Allaah [The Most High] said:
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِكُمْ
O mankind! Your rebellion (disobedience to Allah) is only against your ownselves.
[Soorah Yoonus: Ayah: 23]
 Evil plotting.
Allaah [The Most High] said:
وَلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ
But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it.
[Soorah Faatir: Ayah: 43]
 Breaking pledges.
Allaah [The Most High] said:
فَمَنْ نَكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنْكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ
Then whosoever breaks his pledge only breaks it to his own harm.
[Soorah Al-Fath: Ayah: 10]

Journalists Should Be Truthful – By Shaikh Muqbil [rahimahullaah]
Shaikh Muqbil Bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee [rahimahullaah] said:
In the majority of cases the journalists are capricious, so they praise the rulers in order to be given wealth. And it may be that they accept the realities, whilst launching attacks against the people of knowledge. Therefore, a person should be principled and truthful, and he should not care who opposes him; but if he is capricious, then the people will not be at ease with his newspaper because it becomes that of lies as well as its articles.
The Slave of The Deenaar and Dirham – By Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah]
Narrated Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu-anhu]: The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “let the slave of the Deenaar and Dirham, and Qateefah and khameesah [i.e. money and luxurious clothes] perish, for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased”. [Bukhaari. Number 2886]
Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on this hadeeth as follows:
This hadeeth is about the one who only seeks after the Dunyah [worldly possessions] and does not desire the Hereafter; rather his only desire is Dunyah. He does not give concern to his religion, rather his only concern is the Dunyah; so if he is given something from the Dunyah he becomes pleased with Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] and the people; but if he is not given from it, he becomes displeased with Allaah and the people.
[تعس ]- meaning ‘destroyed’. [التعس] means ‘destruction’ and unsuccessful. [Allaah (The Most High) said]: [وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَتَعۡسً۬ا لَّهُمۡ – But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah), for them is destruction. (47:8)]
Why is he called a slave [of the Deenaar and dirham]? That is because he attaches his heart to it [i.e. wealth], so the worldly life becomes as if it is his lord. He attaches his heart to it and becomes enslaved by it. The poet says:
*I obeyed my desires and thus they enslaved me
*And had I indeed been satisfied [with what I have] I would have been free
Therefore, this man’s concern is [only] the Dunyah- if given from it he becomes pleased, praises and extols; but if not given, indeed he is displeased and angry, just as Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all Imperfections] stated about the hypocrites:
وَمِنۡہُم مَّن يَلۡمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ فَإِنۡ أُعۡطُواْ مِنۡہَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمۡ يُعۡطَوۡاْ مِنۡہَآ إِذَا هُمۡ يَسۡخَطُونَ
And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged! [9:58]
Their pleasure and displeasure is attached to wealth. The one who (becomes) pleased and displeased (solely) for the sake of wealth is a hypocrite, a slave of the Deenaar and the Dirham. Allaah [The Most High] said: [ وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ رَضُواْ مَآ ءَاتَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥ وَقَالُواْ حَسۡبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤۡتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥۤ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٲغِبُونَ – Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger () gave them and had said: “Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger (from alms, etc.). We implore Allah (to enrich us)]. [9:59]
This (hadeeth) conveys a rebuke against covetousness and that a person should not solely be pleased or displeased due to the Dunyah, rather his anger and pleasure should be for the sake of his religion and for the sake of Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something of it he takes it; but if not given anything from it, then indeed he should say: “Allaah suffices me and He will give me give from His bounty”.
When the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] used to distribute wealth, he used to give those whose Eemaan was weak and the hypocrites – gave them more; but he did not give anything to the best of the Sahaabah; rather he entrusted them to their religion, for indeed due to their [strong] Eemaan they would not become angry if not given. As for the people of weak Eemaan, the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] feared that they will be enraged, so he gave them and brought their hearts closer [the religion].
So this [hadeeth also conveys the affair of] piety and that it is obligated on a person not to attach his heart to the Dunyah [i.e. in the blameworthy manner mentioned in this hadeeth] – solely getting angry and pleased due to it; rather he should attach his heart to Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something lawful from it- which he did not ask for- then indeed he takes it and utilises it as a means of obedience to Allaah; but if he is not given anything, then indeed his religion suffices him and he places his trust and reliance in Allaah. This is the difference between the people of the Dunyah [i.e. those who solely strive for it at the expense of the Aakhirah] and the people of the Deen [i.e. those who seek after lawful provision in the worldly life and make the afterlife their main goal]. [Ref 2]
The Behaviour of The Muslim When Others Are Given Preference Over Him – By Shaikh Zayd Bin Haadee [rahimahullaah]
Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “Indeed, you will see Atharatan after me and affairs you’ll disapprove; they [i.e. the people] said, ‘What do you command us O Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasaallam]?’ He said, ‘Fulfil their rights [i.e. the rulers] and ask Allaah for your rights’”.
Atharatan: meaning- [some people will give precedence to themselves (i.e. spend wealth on themselves and engage in worldly enjoyment, but will not give others their rightful share)].
Shaikh Zaid Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali [rahumahullaah] said: This authentic hadeeth is related to the affair of the rulers- during the end of time – when they will give precedence to themselves through enjoyment of the worldly things and those under their authority will face harm, something of oppression and tyranny; so the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] guided and directed the people to fulfil the rights of the rulers; obey and listen to them in that which is good- whether it is during a time in which one is enthusiastic [to listen and obey them in what is good] or feeling laxadaisical- perform Jihaad behind their banner against the enemies of the religion, establish the prayer and behave in a manner obligated by the Islamic legislation. They should not rebel against the ruler just because he is a sinner or an oppressor, nor refrain from giving him the rights obligated on them to give him; rather they should fulfil his rights just as the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] commanded them, saying, “Fulfil their rights”.
Therefore, the ruler has rights that should be fulfilled by his subjects and the subjects also have rights to be fulfilled by the ruler. It is obligated on the ruler to fulfil their rights and it is obligated on them to fulfil his rights. However, if he [i.e. the ruler] falls short in something related to their rights, it is not permissible for them to [deliberately] fall short in fulfilling his rights. And due to the great importance of rulership and the rulers, indeed the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] commanded them to fulfil the obligation of As-sam’i Wat-taa’ah [i.e. to listen and obey the ruler in good], refrain from disobedience[when commanded to do something good], supplicate to Allaah to make their affairs easy and change their state of affairs to that which is good, aid them to fulfil their needs and those affairs they cannot do without.
This hadeeth contains a miracle of the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] and that is the fact that he clearly stated that during the end of time, the rulers will give precedence to themselves with something of wealth and worldly enjoyment, and others will be deprived of it. Also, there will be affairs which the people of sound judgement will reject. [So], when this era comes, it is obligated on them – those under the rulership of a Muslim ruler – to listen and obey in that which is good, fulfil the rights that have been obligated on them to fulfil and seek their rights from Allaah – meaning: they supplicate to Allaah to aid them in fulfilling their needs and facilitate them with ease in their affairs. And Allaah knows best. [Ref 3]
The Rulers Are Not Fought, But The Khawaarij Are Fought – By Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah]
Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said: Indeed Ahlul Bidah are more evil than the people of sinful desires and [this is confirmed by way of] text and Ijmaa (consensus of the scholars); for indeed the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) commanded that the khawaarij are to be fought [i.e. by the Muslim ruler], but he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) forbade (us) from fighting the oppressive rulers. (Ref a) And he (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) said about the man who drank alcohol [i.e. the one who was brought to the Messenger due to drunkenness (Ref b)]: “Do not curse him, for indeed he loves Allah and His Messenger”; but he (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) said about Dhul Khuwaysirah: A people will appear from this man, who will recite the Qur’aan but it will not go beyond their throats and they will exit the religion as an arrow passes through a target. You will belittle your prayer compared to your prayer, your fasting compared to their fasting and your recitation of the Qur’aan compared to their recitation. Kill them wherever you find them [i.e. whenever they come out to fight, the Muslim ruler should rally his armies against them (Ref c)]; for indeed there is a reward on the day of judgement for the one who kills them. How to Advice The Rulers – By Shaikh Ibn Al-Uthaymeen and Shaikh Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahumallaah]
The Correct Manner of Enjoining Good And Forbidding Evil – By Shaikh Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahullaah]
Question to Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (Rahimahullaah):
Is enjoining good and forbidding evil by the hand obligated on all Muslims or is it just for those in authority and their deputies?
Answer: Correcting what is wrong is obligated on all Muslims according to their ability, because the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “Whoever amongst you sees evil, then let him stop it by his hand; if they cannot, then with his tongue, and if they cannot, then with their heart [i.e. hating it and keeping away from it], and that is the weakest of Eeman.
However, stopping evil by the hand must be based on ability that will not result in greater corruption or evil. A man has the right to rectify matters with his hand in his home and a manager has the authority to make changes with the hand within the organization they are responsible for [i.e. without violating the law of the land in dealing with family and employees], otherwise, people should not stop evil with their hand anything they are not authorized to stop. If stop evil in matters that they have not been given authority, then this will lead to more evil and great corruption between them, the people and the government.
However, they should stop evil with their tongue. They may say: “O such and such person! Fear Allah! That is not permissible, this is Haraam” or “That is obligated on you,” and clarify it based on the Sharee’ah proofs. This is what can be done through the tongue. As for stopping evil with the hand, this should be carried out where one has been given authority, such as one’s home [i.e. within the law] or those authorized by the ruler, such as the organizations given permission and authority to enjoin good. They should make changes in accordance to the authority given to them, in the way prescribed by the Sharee’ah without exceeding their authority. The same applies to the governor of a city, he should make changes with his hand based on the instructions he has been given. [Ref 4]
Haste is From Shaytaan – By Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah]
The Messenger of Allaah [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “Haste is from shaytaan”. [Ref 5]
Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] says:
[a] There should be no haste without a [good] reason.
[b] When one hastens to do something, he should be calm and composed lest he ends up not acquiring what he seeks to accomplish.
[c] Don’t hasten when pursuing affairs – either when passing judgements on things or statements -before contemplating [i.e. contemplation based on knowledge and not assumptions, guessing etc], because it maybe that you are the one who is mistaken.
[d] A person should not hasten to pass judgements, especially judgements related to the Sharee’ah- declaring something lawful or unlawful before contemplating or before passing judgements against the people and thus oppress them- this is wrong. Therefore, it is obligatory to take due care when pursuing affairs. Gentleness is not found in anything except that it beautifies it; so, do not hasten in pursuit of something [i.e. without a need and without contemplating].

A Warning Against Yusuf Al-Qaradaawee – By Shaikh Ubaid [hafidhahullaah] and Shaikh Muqbil [rahimahullaah]
Shaikh Ubaid Bin Abdillaah Al-Jaabiree [hafidhahulaah] said: Qaradaawee is a leader in the furthest depths of misguidance, and he is not upon guidance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH_ar2erh7E
Shaikh Muqbil Bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee [rahimahullaah] said:
Some of the Hizbiyyoon (illegal partisans) will say: A scholar amongst the scholars and you call him a barking dog! This is great O Abaa AbdirRahmaan! A scholar amongst the scholars! The Mufti of Qatar!
Listen to Allaah’s statement:
And recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his tongue out. Such is the description of the people who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect. Evil is the likeness of the people who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses and signs, etc.), and used to wrong their ownselves. [Soorah A’raaf: Ayaat:175-177]
Allaah (The Most High) said:
The likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the) Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but understands nothing from them). [Soorah Al-Juma-ah: Ayah 5]
Allaah (The Most High) said:
إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلۡبُكۡمُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ
Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not. [Soorah Anfaal: Ayah:22]
Allaah (The Most High) said:
وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَّأسْمَعَهُمْ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
Had Allah known of any good in them, He would indeed have made them listen, and even if He had made them listen, they would but have turned away, averse (to the truth).
So I say: Abdullaah Bin Sabah Al-Yahoodee-the one who came from San’a and arrived in Madeenah–manifested asceticism, fear of Allaah, worship and other than that in Islaam. (He manifested) enjoining good and forbidding evil, and thereafter he disseminated trials and became the cause of much trial. Therefore, the Sunni must be recognized as opposed to the hizbiy (illegal partisan). And I do not say that he (Al-Qaradaawee) is a Christian or a Jew; rather (we have been) asked (about him), for indeed his falsehoods which he makes to resemble the truth are dangerous. [Ref 6]
