In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Indeed, one may ask, “Why respond to this Hasan Hasan?!”
We say, Indeed, by Allaah this man is a vile slanderer who seeks to defile the name of Salafiyyah and the Salafiyyoon. Whilst discussing the satanic methodology of the Khawaarij [ISIS and their Ilk], he sought to associate them with Salafiyyah, such as when he stated, “Ahrar al-Sham, a Salafi-jihadist group close to Jabhat al-Nusra”. The wicked slanderer also said, “The Isis ideology is generally viewed as identical to al-Qaida’s or the Saudi version of Salafism – adherence to fundamental Islamic tenets – and so there does not seem to be a serious effort to study it more closely”.
The above is enough proof to show that this man is a vile and obstinate slanderer and we have already dealt with this in the following articles:
Hasan Hasan – the vile slanderer – said:
“Unlike previous incidents of stoning adulterers and crucifixion, throwing people from high buildings did not even inspire criticism of sharia in the Middle East because many did not realise it was a sharia penalty in the first place. But it is the obscurity of the punishment that makes it particularly valuable for Isis. The purpose is not to increase the volume of violence but also to raise eyebrows and trigger questions about such practices, which Isis is more capable of answering than mainstream clerics, who prefer to conceal teachings that propound such punishments. Many Isis members were eager to emphasise they were impressed by such obscure teachings, and were drawn to the group by the way Isis presents Islam with absolute lucidity. Mothanna Abdulsattar, for example, spoke about the group’s “intellectualism and the way it spreads religion and fights injustice”. [End of quote]
Response to the above
Regarding throwing people from high buildings, Hasan Hasan is referring to the manner in which ISIS dealt with the people accused of sodomy. We have already addressed this affair in post 5 by way of a quote from Shaikh Abdul Waahid – Abu Khadeejah [hafidhahullaah] when he stated, “Muslim scholars throughout history have taken this story [i.e. Sodom and Gomorrah] to mean that Allah has prohibited homosexuality absolutely, i.e. courtship and sexual relationships between men. Muslims see homosexuality as an unnatural condition, an immoral inclination, even a mental illness which is dangerous for the individual and society in terms of its goodness and morality. Islam teaches that a Muslim cannot be pious and obedient to God and be a practising homosexual; the two states are incompatible. However, Muslim doctrine does not remove from the fold of Islam the one who practices the major sin of homosexuality”.
“The Qur’an does not say how homosexuality should be punished, but a saying of the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) makes clear: “Whoever you find engaging in the action of the people of Lūt, execute the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done.” (Ibn Majah 2561, Tirmidhi 1456) This saying must not be used by individuals as an excuse to enact or incite violence against homosexuals”. “Prescribed punishments can only be carried out by the legal authority in a country that practices Islamic Law (i.e. in a Muslim country); and there must be clear evidence that actual sex had taken place. The Muslim penal code carries out punishments on the basis of the unlawful act that is committed and not on the basis of a persons’ inclinations where no illegal act has been committed”. “This is the view of all of the famous scholars and jurists of Islam in line with the punishment dealt to the people of Lūt (in the Qur’an) and the hadīth of the Prophet. A Muslim, regardless of which country he lives in, is not allowed to physically harm those he regards to be sinners, nor incite others to do so. Vigilantism goes against Islamic teachings because it creates an anarchic, unjust and disorderly society”. https://www.abukhadeejah.com/lgbtq-homosexuality-gay-muslims-and-islam/
Then Hasan – the vile slanderer against Salafiyyah – said,
“The purpose is not to increase the volume of violence but also to raise eyebrows and trigger questions about such practices, which Isis is more capable of answering than mainstream clerics, who prefer to conceal teachings that propound such punishments”. [End of quote]
Response to the above
Firstly, indeed, this above statement clearly demonstrates Hasan Hasan’s extreme ignorance regarding ahlul bidah, because neither are the Khawaarij people of knowledge nor are they capable of clarifying any affair of the religion in the manner carried out by the upright scholars of Ahlus Sunnah; rather the satanic path of the khawaarij is based on nothing else other than ambiguity and going beyond bounds. This is one of their distinct traits at present as it was when they first appeared during the era of the Sahaabah. Ibn Abbaas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa] said to the khawaarij, “I have come to you from the companions of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)- from the Muhajiroun and the Ansar, and from the son of the uncle of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam). The Qur’an was sent down upon them (i.e. in their time) and they are more knowledgeable concerning it than yourselves, and there is not a single one of them amongst you; and so that I may inform you of what they say and inform them of what you say. So some of them (i.e. khawaarij) said: Do not debate with the Quraish, for indeed Allaah said: [بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ] Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people [Soorah Az-Zukhruf Ayah 58]
Ibn Abbas said: I have never seen a people who exerted themselves in worship more than them(i.e. khawaarij). Their foreheads were scared due to prostration (in prayer at night)….etc Then some of them said: We shall speak to him and see what he says. [After the debate two-thousand of them left their misguidance and the rest remained upon their misguidance. They came out fighting, so the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar fought them].
Shaikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) said:
The khawaarij were not misguided and misguiding others with their intellects and fear of Allaah, except that they disassociated themselves from the scholars and depended on their own understanding and that of those similar to them. They took instructions from one another, and thus they caused harm to themselves and to the ummah. This is the result of disassociating from the scholars.
Secondly, the khawaarij are from those beguiled by shaytaan. Allaah (The Most High) said:
[ أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ فَرَآهُ حَسَنًا – Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair seeming, so that he considers it as good (equal to one who is rightly guided)?] [Surah Faatir; Ayah 8]
Sa’eed Bin Jubair (rahimahullaah) said, “This was revealed concerning the people of bidah and desires”. Qataadah (rahimahullaah) said, “And from them are the khawaarij, who make lawful the spilling of the blood of the Muslims and confiscating their wealth. As for the people of the Kabaa’ir (i.e. those sinful Muslims who commit major sins) they are not from them (i.e. not from those whom the evil of their deeds are made fair seeming, so that they consider it as good) because they do not declare the major sins to be lawful”. The one to whom doubts are made fair-seeming and is submerged in it, and his deeds are made fair seeming to him, so that he considers it as good, shaytaan makes it fair-seeming to him through waswaas. [Re 3]
Therefore, the khawaarij are not people of sound understanding, rather they are ahlul bidah – beguiled by shaytaan if only Hasan Hasan knew!
As for Hasan Hasan’s statement ‘Mainstream clerics’, this is a well-planned deception because the reader is left with the impression that the problem is only between ISIS and those Hasan Hasan consider to be ‘mainstream Muslims’; but rather the basis of problem is extremism and negligence – the extremism propagated by the devils of ISIS and the negligence and distortion championed by Hasan Hasan and other deceitful writers. This word ‘mainstream’ requires detail and distinction, so that the poison hidden in it by Hasan Hasan is removed, because indeed whilst refuting vile Jihaadists and considered them to outside the confines of what he regards to be mainstream Islaam, he also made an attempt to bring them into the fold of Salafiyyah, even though Salafiyyah is free from this false accusation. Indeed, Islaam practiced in the past, today or in future must be in agreement with three sources: The Qur’aan, the authentic Sunnah and the understanding of the Sahaabah – free from ISIS’s extremism, Hasan Hasan’s false accusations against Salafiyyah, the religious innovations of the Shiites and the soofees, and all other deviated sects. Al-Allaamah Abdul Muhsin al-Abbaad [hafidhahullaah] said:
The noble Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) stated that deeds are rejected if they are based on bidah: [مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌ – He who innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not of it will have it rejected (by Allah)].
And in another wording of this hadeeth in Saheeh Muslim the Prophet said:[مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَد – He who does an act (of worship) which we have not commanded (i.e. not commanded by the Prophet), will have it rejected].
And the noble Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] also said:
Verily he lives long among you will see a lot of differing, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafaa ar-Rashideen (the rightly guided caliphs). Adhere to it with your molar teeth (i.e. adhere to it firmly). And beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for every newly invented matter [in the religion] is a bidah (innovation in the religion), and every bidah is misguidance.” [Abu Dawood. Number 4607] [Tirmidhee. Number 2676]
(Also) the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) has clarified in the hadeeth about the seventy three sects amongst whom seventy-two sects will enter the hell fire and one sect will be saved. He clarified that this saved sect are those who adhere to the path him and his noble companions adhered to.
Imaam Maalik [rahimahullaah] said: “The latter part of this Ummah (i.e. those who will come after the Salaf) will not be rectified except by way of that which rectified it’s earlier part (i.e. the Salaf).’’ And he [rahimahullaah) said: ‘’Whoever innovates a bidah in Islaam and considers it to be something good, then indeed he has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the Risaalah (i.e. the message he was entrusted with); because Allaah said: ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ -This day, I have perfected your religion for you.” Therefore, what was not part of the religion at that time (i.e. during the time of the Messenger) cannot be part of the religion today (i.e. after his departure from this world).”
Al-Allaamah Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbaad [hafidahullaah] said:
It is not enough for a person to say: “I am going to do this act of worship even though it was not (performed by) the Prophet because my intention is pure and good.” The evidence (against this statement) is that when it reached the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) that a man amongst his noble companions slaughtered the Eed sacrifice before the Eed Salaah, he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said to him: شَاتُكَ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ- “Your (slaughtered sheep was just mutton (not a sacrifice).” [Saheeh Bukhaari. Number: 5556]; meaning: It is not considered Eed sacrifice because it was not carried out in conformity with my Sunnah. Therefore, what is in conformity with the Sunnah is that the Eed sacrifice is done after the Eed Salaah; but as for sacrificing before the Salaah, then indeed it is outside its specified time and will not be regarded as (Eed sacrifice).
Al-Haafidh said in Fat-hul Baaree (10/17): “Shaikh Abu Muhammad Bin Abu Hamzah said: In this hadeeth is (established the fact that) if an action (i.e. an act of worship) is done with a sincere intention, it is still not (considered) righteous unless it is in conformity with the legislated divine revelation.
Also that which will shed more light on this affair is when Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood came to a people who had gathered in the Masjid, and each of them had a number of stones/pebbles; and there was one man amongst them saying: ‘Say ‘Subhaanallaah’ a hundred times; say ‘Laa-ilaaha Ilal laah’ a hundred times; say ‘Allaahu Akbar’ a hundred times. So they repeated.
Then Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood approached them and said: “What is this that you are doing?” They said: “O Abu Abdurrahman! These are pebbles to count the number of times we say Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha Illal laah and Subhaanallaah.” He said: “Count your sins and I assure you that you are not going to lose anything of your hasanaat. O Ummah of Muhammad, how quick is your destruction! These are the Companions of your Prophet present in great numbers; these are his clothes not worn out yet, and his pots are not broken yet. I swear by the One (i.e. Allaah) in Whose Hands my soul is, either you are following a religion that is better than the Religion of Muhammad or you are opening a door of misguidance.” They said: “O Abu Abdurrahman! We swear by Allaaah that we intend nothing other than good.’’ He said: How many people want good but never reach it! [Sunan Ad-Daarimee 1/68-69] [Also recorded by Imaam Albaanee in As-silsilah As-Saheehah. Number 2005] [Ref 4]
As for Hasan Hasan’s false accusation that mainstream clerics prefer to conceal teachings that propound such punishments [i.e. how ISIS deals with people], this is another vile slander. Indeed, the upright scholars of Islaam do not conceal any affair commanded by Allaah and His Messenger; rather we have already quoted Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah’s brief clarification regarding this affair, which he derived and transmitted from the clarifications of the scholars. Indeed, Hasan Hasan slanders, speculates and defames the scholars of Islaam by accusing them of concealment. That is because the goal of many of these so called researchers on sects and groups is nothing else but a desire for fame and money, therefore they exaggerate, speculate and slander in order to deceive those who read their articles and books. We remind the slanderer that Allaah (The Most high) said:
وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ
[وَيْلٌ –Woe]- meaning, loss and destruction. And it is said [that it means] a valley in Jahannam.
[لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ – to every slanderer and backbiter]; this is his preoccupation and practice (or habit), slander and backbiting -violating the honour of the people, speaking ill of them and defaming them. Slandering by way of speech and backbiting by way of action through indication (or gesturing). [Ref 5]
Qaadhi Iyaad (rahimahullaah) stated that the word [وَيْلٌ –Woe] carries some of the following meanings: [a] It is used whilst referring to one who has fallen into destruction. [b] It is used whilst referring to one who deserves destruction. [c] It is used to refer to destruction itself. [d] It is used to refer to the difficulty found in punishment. [e] It is used to refer to grief. [f] It is used to refer to a valley in the hell fire. [Ref 6]
As for Hasan Hasan’s statement that some spoke about ISIS’s intellectualism and the way they spread religion and fight injustice, then indeed we’ll suffice with these narrations from the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi asallam] and the observations of the upright scholars of the Ummah.
The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said,
“A people will come from the east who recite the Qur’aan, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will pass through the religion just as an arrow pierces its target and they will not return to it just as the arrow does not return to the bow”. [Al-Bukhaari 7123]
The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said
“During the last days [i.e. end of time], there will be young people with foolish dreams. They will say the best of statements amongst creation, but they will pass through Islam just as an arrow passes through its game. Their Eemaan will not go beyond their throats”. [Al-Bukhari 4770]
The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said:
“There will be discord and division in my Ummah and a people will come with beautiful statements but evil deeds. They recite the Qur’aan, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will exit the religion just as an arrow leaves its target and they will not return until the arrows returns to its notch. They are the worst of the creation”. [Abu Dawud 4765]
The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said:
“Some people from my Ummah will emerge from the east, who recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats. Every time a group of them appears it will be cut off. The Messenger repeated this and on the tenth time he said, “Every time a group of them emerges, it will be cut off, until Dajjaaj appears from their remnants”. [Musnad Aḥmad 27767]
Ubaydullaah Ibn Abee Raafi said, “The Khawaarij came out against Ali ibn Abee Taalib [radiyallaahu0-anhu] and said, ‘There is no judgement, except the judgement of Allaah’, so Ali said them, ‘A statement of truth by way of which falsehood is intended’”. [Ṣaḥeeh Muslim 1066]
Imaam Wahb Ibn Munabbih [rahimahullaah] said:
I was acquainted with the early period of Islaam. By Allaah, the Khaawaarij have never had a group except that Allaah caused it to split because of their evil state of affairs. Never did one of them publicize his opinion except that Allah caused his neck to be struck. Never did the Muslim Ummah unite behind a man from the Khawaarij. If Allah allowed the opinion of the Khawaarij to be accepted and established, then the earth would have been corrupted, the carriageways would have been cut off, Hajj to the sacred house of Allah would have ceased and the affair of Islam would have reverted to ignorance until the people seek shelter in the mountains as they did in the time of ignorance. If ten or twenty men among them were to rise, there would not be a man among them except that he claims the khilaafah for himself- every man among them would have ten thousand other men with him and all of them fighting each other, accusing one another of disbelief until the believer fears for himself, his religion, his life, his family, his wealth, and would not know where to travel or who to be with. [Ref 7]
Imaam Ibn Katheer [rahimahullaah] said:
“If they ever gained strength, they would surely corrupt the whole of the earth, Iraq and Syria (Shaam) – they would not leave a baby, male or female, neither a man or a woman, because as far as they are concerned the people have caused corruption, a corruption that cannot be rectified except by mass killing”. [Ref 8]
Imaam At-Tabariy [rahimahullaah] said:
“The Khawarij came to a village and captured a man and his daughter. She said to them, ‘O people of Islaam! Verily, my father is an old man so do not kill him, and I am only a girl. By Allaah, I have never committed immorality and I have never harmed anyone’. They brought her out to murder her whilst she kept on saying, ‘What sin have I committed; what sin have I committed?’ She fainted thereafter and they killed her with their swords”. [Ref 9]
Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said:
“The people of bidah, such as the khawaarij, they initiate an innovation [in the religion], excommunicate the one who opposes them and declare lawful the shedding of his [i.e. opponent’s] blood. These people [i.e. people of bidah] refute the bidah of each other, whilst he [i.e. the refuter] is also an innovator; so he refutes a bidah with another bidah, and falsehood with another falsehood”. [Ref 10]
Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] also said:
“The basis of the misguidance of these ones is their belief that the Imaams of guidance and the Jamaa’ah [i.e. the Salafus Saaleh] have exited the (confines) of justice and are misguided. This is the view of those who have abandoned the Sunnah, such as the Raafidah and those similar to them. And that which they consider to be oppression, they hold that it’s disbelief and then innovate rulings for it. These are the three stances -[i.e. they revile the Salaf, declare certain acts as oppression and then innovate rulings against them] – held by those who exit the Sunnah, such as the Harooriyyah [i.e. khawaarij], the raafidah and those similar to them. They isolate some of the fundamental principles of the Islamic Religion until they exit from it (completely), just like an arrow goes through a hunted game”. [Ref 11]
The above is one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Khawaarij, who innovate and then pass rulings against people. The rulers and senior scholars of Saudi are not upon this satanic methodology; however the desire for fame and a heart filled malice led Hasan Hasan to utter that mighty lie, fraudulent comparison and mighty slander in order to tarnish the image of pure Salafiyyah. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi [hafidhahullaah] said, “How numerous are those who tell lies today against the carries of Salafiyyah and its callers! They hinder men from the path of Allaah by way of these lies to aid falsehood, spurious (stances, ideas, views etc), bidah, (views, stances, beliefs, ideas etc) that are destructive to the sound creed, methodology and virtuous manners”. [Ref 12]
Imaam Al-Aajuree (rahimahullah) said:
“Neither the scholars of old nor of these times, ever differed about the Khawārij. They regarded them as an evil people who were disobedient to Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, and His Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) even though they prayed, fasted and exerted themselves in worship, and all of this was of no benefit to them, even though they were apparent in enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, and that did not benefit them because they are a people who interpret the Qur’aan based on what they desire and they bring extreme difficulty upon the Muslims. Verily Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam); the rightly guided caliphs; the companions and those who followed them in goodness, (Allah’s mercy on them) warned us from them”. [Ref 13]
Finally, we say to Hasan Hasan: It would have been better if you asked the upright scholars of the Sunnah before speaking about sects and groups, but instead you rushed into an affair whose detail clarification can only be acquired by way of learning and sitting in the presence of the upright scholars and students of knowledge. As for speaking about sects and groups based on speculation and conjecture, then indeed this is a dangerous affair – an affair that has led Hasan Hasan to lend an ear to his shaytaan and thus he ascribed Salafiyyah to the vile Jihadists. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said:
And when it is case that the true followers of the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them] are people of knowledge and justice, therefore the speech of the people of Islaam and the true adherents to the Prophetic Sunnah regarding the unbelievers and the proponents of religious innovations has to be based on knowledge and justice, and not conjecture and what the soul desires. And due to this the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “The judges are three: one will go to Paradise and two to Hell. A man who knows the truth and judges with it will enter paradise; a man who knows the truth but judges with the opposite of it will enter the fire, and a man who judges for the people based on ignorance will enter the fire’’. [Reported by Imaam Abu Dawud 3573]
And when it is the case that the one who judges between the people in [affairs] of wealth, blood [i.e. murder cases, physical violence etc] and honour will enter the hell fire if he is not a just scholar, then how about the one who passes judgements – without knowledge and justice – on creeds, religions, the fundamentals of belief, divine knowledge and the general fundamental principles related to different subject matters, as is the case with ahlul bidah wal ahwaa [the people of religious innovations and desires]- those who follow the ambiguous doubtful matters, abandon those explicitly clear texts that have transmitted by the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them], cling to affairs that share an ambiguous similarity through mere analogy and opinions, and then present affairs whose differences can neither be reconciled nor equated, just as is the case with the unbelievers and all the proponents of religious innovation and followers of desires. [Ref 14]
