Why Is Ed Husain Rebutted
Allaah [The Most High] said:
[إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لِتَحۡكُمَ بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِمَآ أَرَٮٰكَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَلَا تَكُن لِّلۡخَآٮِٕنِينَ خَصِيمً۬ا – Surely, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad) the Book (this Qur’an) in truth that you might judge between men by that which Allah has shown you (i.e. has taught you through Divine Inspiration), so be not a pleader for the treacherous (or deceitful person)]. [Surah An-Nisaa Ayah 105]
Do not argue for the one whose treachery [or deception] is known, such as the one who either pursues what does not belong to him or one who rejects a right he must fulfil, whether he is aware of that or not. In this is proof to [establish] that it is forbidden to argue based on falsehood and pleading [on behalf] of one who makes a false claim –in religious or worldly disputes. On the other hand, it is permissible to plead on behalf of someone -in a dispute- who is not known for treachery [or deception]. [Ref A]
Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali [may Allaah preserve him] stated:
The one who rebuts a Mubtadi [an innovator in religious affair] or a book in which there is Bidah, or disparages one who is deserving of disparagement, or rebukes one who deserves to be rebuked, [such as] some narrator, false witnesser and a sinner who announces his sin, then he [i.e. this just refuter] is not an oppressor because he has placed the affairs in their proper and [rightful] places, and the oppressive transgressor is the one who embarks upon speaking ill of him and conspires against him. In reality, he [i.e. the one who speaks ill of this upright refuter, rebuke] is the one who places something in order than its [rightful] place due to the fact that he praises the criminals- the callers to the gates of the hell fire- and speaks ill of those who give sincere advice to the Muslims. Whoever defends them [i.e. the innovators] and argues on their behalf with falsehood, then he is from those more deserving of the statement of Allaah:
And argue not on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Verily, Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer of his trust, and indulges in crime. They may hide [their crimes] from men, but they cannot hide [them] from Allah, for He is with them [by His Knowledge], when they plot by night in words that He does not approve, and Allah ever encompasses what they do. Lo! You are those who have argued for them in the life of this world, but who will argue for them on the Day of Resurrection against Allah, or who will then be their defender? [Surah An-Nisaa. Aayaat 107109] [Ref B]
Ed Husain – bewildered philosopher, stooge of the militant secularists and pleader for the treacherous – stated:
“Britain’s terror threat level has been upgraded to ‘severe’ this week, following jihadist attacks in both France and Austria. Raising a terror alert is not enough though to stop more attacks. The government’s security and bureaucratic response to terror is always playing catch-up and constantly on the defensive. And unless we take the time to understand the enemy, we cannot force it into retreat and defeat. We must first of all be honest. Our country and compatriots depend on us getting this right”. [End of quote]
Comment: All praises and thanks be to Allaah for guiding us to the blessed Salafi methodology. Indeed, Ahlus Sunnah’s vigilance towards the advocates of religious innovations, deviant creeds, terrorism and false ideas is something firmly established and acted upon on a daily basis. The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] stated:
“Whoever innovates or accommodates an innovator in religious affairs, then upon him is the curse of Allaah, His Angels and the whole of mankind.” [Ref 1]
Imaam ash-Shaafi’ee (d. 204H) said: “That a person meets Allaah with every sin except Shirk is better than meeting Him upon any one of the innovated beliefs.” [Ref 2]
Imaam Al-Fudayl Ibn Iyaad said: “If a man comes to a person to consult him and he directs him to an innovator in religious affairs, then he is guilty of deception towards Islaam. Beware of going to a person of innovation because they divert (people) from the truth.” [Ref 3]
Imaam Ibn Rajab said: As for ahlul bidah wad-dalaalah [the proponents of religious innovation and misguidance] and those who imitate the scholars but are not from them, it is permissible to clarify their ignorance and manifest their faults [i.e. their innovations and misguidance], so as to warn not to follow them. [Ref 4]
This is the affair and all praise and thanks be to Allaah. The Salafi is constantly vigilant towards deviant individuals, groups and sect. This is why the upright scholars and our elder teachers in the west constantly warn against the proponents of religious innovations and all deviants, such the Khaarijites – terrorists (ISIS and ilk).
Salafi Shaikh, Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said:
Do not side with the people who initiate trials and tribulations. Do not support, assist or defend them, because (it would necessitate) that you have shared in their (deeds) if you defend them and consider their views to be correct. Even if you did not come out alongside them (in person), you have shared in their sin, rebellion and transgression. Nowadays there are those who side with the people of Tafjeer and Takhreeb [i.e. those terrorists who detonate bombs to kill innocent civilians and cause destruction] and they call this jihaad in the path of Allaah. They kill Muslims and the Mu’aahideen [i.e. those non-Muslims whose safety is guaranteed by way of a covenant]. They cause destruction and terrify the Muslims, and they say or those who support them say, ‘’This is jihaad in the path of Allah’’ and they defend them. These people [i.e. those who support the terrorists] are judged the same as the terrorists and Allaah’s refuge is sought, because they aid them and consider their views to be correct. There is great danger in this affair, because you are considered as one who shares (their sins) even if you did not carry a weapon alongside them because to the fact that you aid them and consider their views to be correct; rather what is even more serious is that you describe their actions as Jihaad in the path of Allaah.

Likewise, the people of Sunnah refute the bewildered philosophers and stooges of the militant secularists, such as the likes of Ed Husain- those who fall into extreme negligence and deviation in affairs of sound creed.
A man asked Qaasim Bin As-Sallaam [rahimahullaah] about Ilmul Kalaam [theological rhetoric], so he said to him, “Indeed, your Lord has guided to the path of uprightness and to the path of truth. Allaah [The Exalted] said:
فَإِن تَنَـٰزَعۡتُمۡ فِى شَىۡءٍ۬ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِۚ ذَٲلِكَ خَيۡرٌ۬ وَأَحۡسَنُ تَأۡوِيلاً
(And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. [Surah An-Nisaa. Aayah 59]
Do you not have what suffices in what your Lord guided you to regarding His speech and the Sunnah of His Prophet, so that you do not return to your opinion and thus become destroyed! Indeed, your Lord has forbidden you from speaking about His Essence and Attributes, except that which He has made know to you. (5)
Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee [rahimahullaah] said,
“Ilmul Kalaam is ignorance”. Imaam Abu Yusuf [rahimahullaah] said, “Ilmul kalaam is ignorance and to be ignorant of Ilmul Kalaam is knowledge”. (6)
Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) said,
“I am neither a person of Ilmul Kalaam nor do I recognize Ilmul Kalaam in anything. (I only recognize) that which is found in the Book of Allaah or in the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)”. (7)
Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) also said,
“Do not sit with the proponents of ilmul kalaam even if they defend the Sunnah”. (8)
Yoonus Ibn Abdil A’laa (rahimahullaah) said,
“I heard Ash-Shaafi’ee (rahimahullaah) saying, ‘It is better for a man to be put to trial with everything that Allaah has forbidden except Shirk than looking into (or engaging himself in) ilmul kalaam; for indeed I have come across affairs from the proponents of ilmul kalaam that which I never thought I would come across’”. (9)
Ibn Aqeel [rahimahullaah] said, “There is none more harmful on the sharee’ah than the innovators of the people of kalaam [i.e. the people of philosophical rhetoric] and the ignorant soofees”. (10)
Imaam Maalik [rahimahullaah] said, “May Allaah curse Amr Ibn Ubaid, for indeed he innovated this innovation from Al-Kalaam. If Kalaam was knowledge, the companions of the Messenger and the Taabi’een would have spoken about it just as they spoke rulings and laws of the religion, however it is falsehood and leads to falsehood. (11)
Statements of Upright Contemporary Scholars
Question to Shaikh Rabee [hafidhahullaah]:
May Allaah reward you with good; this is also a question from the brothers who are present, saying: Assalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuhu. Virtuous Shaikh, is it permissible for me to learn [or study] the knowledge of philosophical logic? Benefit me [i.e. with a response] and may Allaah [The Exalted] reward you with good.
Answer: The knowledge of philosophical logic is a corrupt knowledge and the Salaf- by way of consensus- declared that it is Haraam [forbidden] to study it due to the misguidance and disgustingly evil consequences within it. Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said, “Neither does a dull-witted person benefit from it nor is an intelligent person in need of it”. An intelligent person is not in need of it because he is sensible in his self, natural disposition and intellect; and a dull-witted person does not benefit from it. Even if he studied all the books of philosophical logic, he will not benefit from it.
Shaikh Albaani [rahimahullaah] used to debate against the scholars of philosophical logic and they used to be like children in his presence, yet he never studied philosophical logic; rather Allaah granted him [sound] speech and [Sharee’ah] knowledge, and there is no proof stronger than the proofs of the Kitaab [i.e. the Qur’aan] and the [authentic] Sunnah.
The people of philosophical logic are always defeated [or overwhelmed]. By Allaah, regardless how much they [utilise] philosophical speech and how strong they are in philosophical logic, they are defeated [or overwhelmed] in the presence of the methodology of the Salafus Saaleh [which is] founded on the Book [i.e. the Qur’aan] and the [authentic] Sunnah. (12)
Two Main Evil Outcomes of Theological Rhetoric And Soofiyyah
Shaikh Rabee [hafidhahullaah] said:
The final affair of Ahlul Kalaam [the proponents of theological rhetoric] are a state of doubt and confusion, and the final affair of Ahlut Tasawwuf [the people of the Sofee paths] are a state of wild irrational behaviour and false claims. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said, “And because of this, the innovators of Ahlul Kalaam [proponents of theological rhetoric] have something of resemblance to the Yahood and the innovators in acts of worship have something of resemblance to the Nasaaraa. The final affair of ahlul kalam are a state of doubt and confusion and the final affair of the innovators in acts of worship are a state of wild irrational behaviour and false claims. That is because these ones [i.e. ahlul kalaam] deny the truth and thus it leads them to doubt and those ones [i.e. innovators in acts of worship] believe in falsehood and it leads them to a state of wild irrational behaviour. These ones [i.e. ahlul kalam] are like the darkness in a vast deep sea, overwhelmed with a great wave topped by a great wave, topped by dark clouds, darkness, one above another; and those ones [i.e. innovators in acts of worship] are like a mirage in a desert, the thirsty one thinks it to be water, until he comes up to it and finds it to be nothing”. (13)
The Consequences of Conjecture And Desires
Allaah said: [إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱلۡأَنفُسُۖ – They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire].
Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr [hafidhahullaah] said: The one deprived of sound Eemaan and the sound creed sent down as revelation by Allaah- The Lord of the Aalameen, then his affair is one of two: Corruption in Knowledge or Corruption in his Intent– corruption in knowledge occurs as a result of following conjecture and corruption in one’s intent occurs as a result of following desires, or the person may combine both of them.
Another benefit derived from this is that the rectification or well-being of a person cannot be attained except by way of two affairs: Upright Knowledge and Upright Intent. This is why Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said in Miftaah Daarus Sa’aadah that a person is in need of two things: “Sound Knowledge by way of which he is rightly guided and lofty aspiration by way of which he is urged towards that”. That is because it maybe that a person has beneficial knowledge but not sound intent and aspiration, therefore one cannot be upright except by way of upright knowledge and intent. Sound knowledge is corrupted through following conjecture and sound intent is corrupted through following the desires of one’s soul. (14)
Salafi Shaikh, Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:
Ad-Daaraqutnee [rahimahullaah] hated Ilmul Kalaam, even though he never entered into it due to its evil consequences, monotonous speech without benefit, the doubts it presents in affairs that are already established based on certainty, the confusion it causes and leading to abandonment of the [authentic] narrations. There is nothing- based on what I can see or what I hold – more harmful to the Muslims in their creed than Ilmul Kalaam and philosophical logic. Many of the senior scholars of philosophical rhetoric affirmed – at the end of their lives – that they wished to die upon the religion [i.e. the religion that is in conformity with what is found in the Qur’aan, authentic Sunnah and understanding of the pious predecessors] and return to their natural disposition [i.e. Islaam as revealed in the authentic texts].
Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said, “The ones it is feared for the most that they will fall into misguidance are those scholars of philosophical rhetoric at the intermediate level, because those who did not engage in it were safe from its evils; and those who engaged in it and reached a high level became acquainted with its corruption and falsity, and thus left it”. He [Shaikhul Islaam] spoke the truth, for this is what is feared in every affair of knowledge. It is what is feared for the ones at the intermediate level in knowledge- those who are exploring the path [or are in the path of study], because indeed they consider themselves as ones who have entered into affairs of knowledge and do not leave the affair to others [i.e. they enter into affairs that are above their ability to deal with], whilst – in reality- they have not reached the highest level in knowledge and are not grounded; so they become misguided and misguiding others. (15)
Salafi Shaikh, Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] said that Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:
The people in their pursuit of knowledge and religion have two innovated paths and a path legislated in the Sharee’ah. The path of the Islamic legislation is to look at that which the Messenger brought, utilise it as evidence and act upon that which it necessitates; therefore, there has to be knowledge based on that which he [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] came with and to act upon it, and only one of them is not enough. This path is built upon the sound intellectual proofs and the sound proofs that are based on absolute certainty [in conformity with the revelation], for indeed the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] clarified the sound intellectual proofs whose limits are determined by the [infallible] divine texts and the Messengers clarified the sound rational proofs which the people are in need of, just as Allaah put forth in the Qur’an every kind of similitude. This is the straight path which Allaah commanded His servants to ask Him to guide them to.
As for the two innovated paths, one of them is the path of the people of innovated theological speech and views, for indeed there is much falsehood in this. Many of its people become negligent in the deeds commanded by Allaah and His Messenger, so they remain upon corruption in knowledge and deeds. These people stray towards false Judaism.
The second is the path of people who employ ways of strengthening the soul, the people of the Soofi paths and innovated acts of worship. These ones stray towards false Christianity, because they say that if a person purifies his soul based on the manner in which they have stated, then the sciences of the religion will come to him in abundance without learning. The acts of worship of many amongst these people are innovated; rather they are in opposition to that which the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] came with and thus they remain upon corruption in their deeds and corruption due to deficiency in knowledge, since they do not know what the Messenger came with. These people often malign one another and every group speaks ill against the other, whilst each of them claims to be following the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam]; however, what the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] came with is neither in agreement with what these ones say and what those ones say. Allaah said:
Ibrahim (Abraham) was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Hanifa (Islamic Monotheism – to worship none but Allah Alone) and he was not one who associated partners to Allaah in worship. [Surah Aal Imraan. Aayah 67]
Neither the Messenger of Allaah [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] nor his companions were upon the path of the people of religions innovations amongst the proponents of Theological Rhetoric and Views, nor upon the path of the people of religious innovations amongst the proponents of innovated worship and Soofiyyah; rather he was upon that which Allaah sent him with based on the Qur’aan and Sunnah.(16)
Ed Husain – the stooge of the militant secularists and pleader for the treacherous worshippers of freedom of expression- said:
Quote: “The threat we currently face is not about racism – which is why Christian Nigerians or Hindu Indians do not become terrorists in the West. It is not about unemployment, either – which is why white, working-class men, a demographic with high levels of unemployment, do not become suicide bombers. Instead, the threat from the menace of Islamist terror stems from a narrative – a dangerous cocktail of religion and politics – of the past, anger in the present, and a vision for the future. It is that narrative that we must confront head on and destroy.”
Comment: First, indeed, the believer who follows the Qur’aan, the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet and the understanding of the companions of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] will never commit atrocities whether he is unemployed, rich or poor, rather fear of Allaah stops him from oppression and transgression. As for extremism and terrorism, then indeed both Muslims and Non-Muslims have been perpetrators. Read here:
Ed Husain – The Shaytaan Philosopher, stooge of the militant secularists and worshippers of freedom – stated:
“The political Islamist foe fights us now on three fronts. First, the toughest fight is with regards to freedom of expression. The killing of Samuel Paty, the Charlie Hebdo magazine attack, previous outrages against Denmark, Norway, and the attempts to kill Salman Rushdie by a fatwa from Iran, all point to a rising three-decade long trend of intolerance.
Since the Enlightenment, the West has progressed past the notion of banning cartoons or offending religious figures. The blood of millions spilt during the Reformation, wars of religion, and two world wars have left us with this freedom. That same, inseparable liberty to offend is also what allows European Muslims to thrive as citizens and believers. This basic but powerful idea is yet to be understood fully.”
Comment: Ed Husain speaks about freedom of expression in such a manner that even the Muslim with the least knowledge of Islaam can clearly see the corruption that has afflicted this person, because his pursuit in this subject matter is not based on the moral guidelines of the infallible divine revelation. Indeed, the upright Muslims do not advocate an excessive freedom of speech that leads to kufr, shirk and falsehood, because this is Ed Husain’s goal and it has led him to utter statements of Kufr, such as Darwin’s theory of evolution, as well as promoting the heretical philosophers [Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi]. This is why Ed Husain desperately advocates this excessive freedom of speech so that he can utter and propagate the evil desires of his soul, the falsehood of the philosophers, the liberalists and secularists.
Allaah [The Exalted] said:
Say: “(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawahish (great evil sins and every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allāh for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allāh of which you have no knowledge.”
After quoting this verse, Shaikh Abul Abbaas Moosaa Richardson [may Allaah preserve him] quotes the statement of Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn ul-Qayyim, in his tremendous work, Madaarij as-Saalikeen. Shaykh-ul-Islām mentions:
“As for speaking about Allāh without knowledge then it is the most severe of all these prohibitions in its nature of being prohibited and the greatest of them in sinfulness. For this reason, it has been mentioned in the 4th position of the Ḥarām things, that all of the religions and legislations have agreed upon and it is never, ever permissible to speak about Allāh without knowledge. It is never, ever other than Ḥarām.”
After this, Shaikh Abul Abbaas expounds on the following points:
The resulting evils of speaking about without knowledge
The stance of the Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ (the Pious Predecessors) with regards to this
The issue of fabricating on the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)

Allaah [The Exalted] said:
And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). [Surah Qaaf. Aayaat 16-18]
The Messenger of Allaah (sallalaahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all the limbs humble themselves before the tongue and say: ”Fear Allaah for our sake, (for) we are with you; if you are upright, we will be upright; and if you are crooked, we will become crooked.”
The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) also said: ”Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his mouth, his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.”
Imaam Abdul-Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said: This requires two affairs; [a] A lot of remembrance (of Allaah); [b] keeping away from gatherings of heedlessness and doubts, and (keeping away from) that which will result in fornication and nonsense speech.
Al-Hasan Bin Saaleh (rahimahullaah) said:
”I scrutinized Wara (apprehensive fear) thoroughly and did it find it more lacking in anything than the tongue.”
Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad (rahimahullaah) said:
”Neither hajj nor taking up positions during battle, nor Jihaad are more difficult than restraining the tongue.”
Imaam Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisee (rahimahullaah) said:
Know that whoever is acquainted with the worth of his era and that it is his main capital, he will not seek an understanding except in what is beneficial. This acquaintance obligates restraining one’s tongue from speaking about that which does not concern him, for indeed the one who abandons the remembrance of Allaah (The Most High) and busies himself with what does not concern him, then he is like one who is able to get hold of a gem but exchanges it for a clod of earth. This is a loss of one’s lifespan.
Therefore, the upright Muslim takes himself to account in order that the desire to speak – just because he has been given the freedom – does not lead him to loss in the Aakhirah.
As for the terrorists – those who attack and murder non-Muslim fellow citizens, then indeed our Mashaayikh in the west are foremost in refuting and exposing their evil. See here:
The Salafi Response To The Terrorist Attacks In Paris, France: “Were they forbidding an evil?”

We follow the methodology of the Prophets
We are free from actions of all the deviants – the terrorists, cartoonists and militant secularists.
As Ed Husain’s statement, “The political Islamist foe fights us now on three fronts”, then indeed we have clarified what an Islamist means in various contexts. See here: islamist
As the term Siyaasah which is usually referred to as politics – even though such a definition does not present its true reality, then indeed we affirm the Siyaasah Shar’iyyah – an affirmation based on the sound principles of the Is;amic religion which is free from the extremism of the khaarijites – terrorists (ISIS and their ilk) and free from the extreme negligence of the bewildered philosphers and stooges of the secularists, such as Ed Husain and his ilk. Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him].
What is Siyaasah? It means to regulate the affairs of the citizens; rules related to behaviour and upright rectification. It has jurisdiction over the individual’s behaviour and the society as a whole, and it involves Islamic jurisprudence by way of which the rulers are facilitated with knowledge and understanding of the rulings related to looking after the affairs of the state, its set-ups and Sharee’ah principles. [Ref 23
the religion itself is Siyaasah and Siyaasah itself is the religion, but what we mean by Siyaasah is the Siyaasah that is based on equity and not oppression. The religion of Islaam came to bring about wellbeing [and upright conduct] for the people in their behaviour towards their Lord and between themselves. It establishes the Rights of Allaah, rights for the people- rights for parents, relatives, wives and the Muslims – in general. And even for non-Muslims, Islam has given them rights that are well-known to the scholars. It laid down the means and conditions for war and peace making, punishments for crimes – some of which are determined by way of specific texts and some are left to the jurisdiction of the ruler, as well as other affairs which clearly shows that Islaam in its entirety is Siyaasah. The root of this word Siyaasah is Saa’is and that is the person who is responsible for looking after the affairs of animals – fulfilling that which brings them wellbeing and repelling that which will harm them. This is Siyaasah.
We find this meaning when we contemplate on affairs of the religion, and that Allaah has legislated – for the servants – things without which humans will not be able to establish [a fruitful, stable, orderly, safe] life, and forbade them from things that will corrupt their state of affairs – either affecting everyone or specific individuals. Therefore, in reality the entire religion is Siyaasah. And we are certain that anyone who separates Siyaasah from the Religion and establishes Siyaasah based on what he sees fit and what he forbids, then indeed his Siyaasah is corrupt, and it will cause more harm than good. If it rectifies one affair based on his limited [or deficient] opinions, then indeed it greatly corrupts from another angle. So, this makes it incumbent that one contemplates on the state of affairs of those who base their Siyaasah on their desires and opinions, and became distanced from the religion of Islaam, you will find -after contemplating – that either all that Siyaasah is corrupt or most of it, and that if it rectifies an affair from one angle, it corrupts from another angle. So, based on this, separation between Siyaasah and Religion is a sinful deed and it is obligated on the one who seeks to rectify himself and others that he does so only based on the religion of Islaam. What is a Muslim Commanded When Muslim Rulers Do Not Establish The Siyaasah Shar’iyyah?
Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [hafidhahullaah] stated:
The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said: “There will appear after me rulers, they will not guide by my guidance, and they will not establish my Sunnah; there will be amongst them men whose hearts will be hearts of devils in the bodies of men!” He was asked: “How should I behave, O Messenger of Allāh, if I reach that time?” He replied: “Hear and obey the Amīr (i.e. the ruler), even if he beats your back and [illegally] takes your wealth – hear and obey!”
There are five traits in this statement in the presence of which it is still obligatory to hear and obey the rulers in that which constitutes good: their lack of implementing the Prophetic guidance, their lack of implementing the Prophetic Sunnah, their having the hearts of devils, their beating their subjects and illegally taking their wealth. A bitter pill to swallow for those not truly nurtured upon the Qurān and the authentic Prophetic Methodology. However, the bar set by the legislation is high as the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) stated that removing the ruler is not permitted, “unless you see clear open disbelief for which you have evidence from Allāh.”
So the disbelief must be something which is clear and apparent, something seen and known for which one can bring textual evidence for. So it is not permitted to rebel against the ruler in an issue in which there is a difference of opinion as to whether it is disbelief or not, as that opposes the statement of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam), “unless you see clear open disbelief.” This also requires that the ruler recognised the act to be apostasy and therefore cannot be excused for being ignorant; that he did not commit the deed in error not intending it; that he was not wrongly advised by those around him who call themselves religious scholars and thus gave him sanction to commit disbelief without him knowing it – so all of this constitutes a valid excuse and a barrier against the declaration of apostasy. Anything short of this clarity is conjecture and in opposition to the meaning of this hadīth. [Ref 5] Read more here: https://www.abukhadeejah.com/the-tyranny-of-the-rulers-a-reason-for-rebellion/
Secondly, the Takfeeris incite the rabble and ignorant people, saying, “These rulers do not rule by what Allaah has revealed, therefore they are disbelievers!” The detailed response to this is in this link: http://www.salafipublications.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=MNJ05&articleID=MNJ050003&pfriend=
The Obligation of a Muslim Whilst Living in a Society That Rules By Secular Laws
Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [hafidhahullaah] said:
Although Muslims in Britain are subject to British law and the British legal system, Sharī’ah tribunals are allowed in certain areas as an alternative way of resolving disputes. These are aimed at resolving commercial, civil and matrimonial disputes to the satisfaction of both sides. Sharī’ah Law is based upon the Qur’ān and Sunnah, and judgements are made in accordance to these two sources. Only those well-versed with the Religion and jurisprudence (rulings in law) are permitted to judge in Sharī’ah matters. Take note of Shaikh Abu Khadeejah’s statement, “Muslims in Britain are subject to British law and the British legal system”, therefore one must be well aware of this fact and distance himself from the Takfeeris and those who take the law into their own hands. One must pay close attention to the fact – out of fear of Allaah and the last Day – that it is obligated on us to behave well towards our non-Muslim fellow citizens and fulfil our covenants. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] stated:
Likewise I invite you to have respect for those people who have the right that they should be respected, from those between you and whom there is an agreement (of protection) [i.e. Non-Muslims]. For the land which you are living is such that there is an agreement between you and them. If this were not the case they would have killed you or expelled you. So preserve this agreement, and do not prove treacherous to it, since treachery is a sign of the hypocrites, and it is not from the way of the Believers.
And know that it is authentically reported from the Prophet that he said : “Whoever kills one who is under an agreement of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.”
Do not be fooled by those sayings of the foolish people: those who say: ‘Those people are Non-Muslims, so their wealth is lawful for us [i.e. to misappropriate or take by way of murder and killing].’ For by Allaah – this is a lie. A lie about Allaah’s Religion, and a lie in Islamic societies.
O my brothers. O youth. O Muslims. Be truthful in your buying and selling, and renting, and leasing, and in all mutual transactions. Because truthfulness is from the characteristics of the Believers, and Allaah – the Most High – has commanded truthfulness – in the saying of Allaah – the Most High – “O you who believe – fear and keep you duty to Allaah and be with the truthful.”
And the Prophet encouraged truthfulness and said : “Adhere to truthfulness, because truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Paradise; and a person will continue to be truthful, and strive to be truthful until he will be written down with Allaah as a truthful person“.
And he warned against falsehood, and said : “Beware of falsehood, because falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. And a person will continue lying, and striving to lie until he is written down with Allaah as a great liar.”
O my brother Muslims. O youth. Be true in your sayings with your brothers, and with those Non-Muslims whom you live along with – so that you will be inviters to the Religion of Islaam, by your actions and in reality. So how many people there are who first entered into Islaam because of the behaviour and manners of the Muslims, and their truthfulness, and their being true in their dealings. [Ref 6] [End of quote]
Therefore, we do not allow any harm to come to our fellow non-Muslim citizens, rather we fulfil our covenants, safeguard their lives, property and honour. We rebut all the people of falsehood, especially the terrorists and Takfeeris.
Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [hafidhahullaah] said:
“Indeed, terrorist acts, whether perpetrated in Muslim or Non-Muslim countries are a handiwork of the devil. The Scholars- Shaikh Fawzaan, Shaikh Rabee, Shaikh Ubaid, Shaikh Abdullaah al-Bukhaari and many others have always condemned those who perpetrate terrorist acts; rather the scholars hold that those who plot and plan these inhumane acts are to be reported to the authorities. Therefore, Muslim communities must be at the forefront of stamping out these non-Islamic acts that are done falsely in the name of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings be upon him] stated: ‘’Whoever sees an evil, let him change it with his hand. If he is not able to do that, then let him change it with his tongue [by speaking]. And if he is not able to do that, then let him [hate it] with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith.’’ (Reported by Muslim)
The Scholars have stated that forbidding evil with the hand is done by the governments and the authorities, so they hold and punish and imprison the evil doers. If they withhold from this duty, it does NOT fall into the hands of the citizens to take the law into their own hands. Rather they remain patient. As for speaking against the evil in terms of refuting the false ideologies, then that it for the scholars and the people of knowledge, not for ignorant, and there has never been a time in the history of Islam, except that the scholars have spoken out against evil ideologies and doctrines as a safeguard for Islam, and this will not stop up until the final Hour is established. As for the general person then he forbids only in accordance to his knowledge and ability in line with the rulings of the true scholars of the Sunnah based upon the Qur’aan and the Sunnah. As for hating with the heart, then this for the one who recognizes evil, but does not have the knowledge nor the ability to speak against this, so he distances himself from it and keeps away from it.
Therefore, as it relates to the terrorists, then it is well-known that their evil and inhumane acts are condemned by the Muslim scholars based upon the texts of the Qur’aan and authentic Prophet narrations. So both, a Muslim student of knowledge and the general person is to inform the authorities of those that incite or plan terrorist acts. And this is from the aspect of forbidding evil and thereby earning the reward of Allaah [The Most High].
Another reason why these terrorists and their ideology must be stamped out is due to the fact that they are innovators who have attributed to Islaam, that which Islam is free of, and it is impermissible to accommodate them or defend them or protect them, due to the statement of the Prophet [salallaahu alaihi wassallam], ‘’Whoever innovates or accommodates an innovator, then upon him is the curse of Allaah, His Angels and the whole of mankind.’’ (Reported by Bukhaaree and Muslim). And there is not a shadow of a doubt from an Islamic perspective, that these terrorist ideologies are innovations and these perpetrators are innovators, and it is not permissible to protect them or give them refuge.
One can recognize the ideology of the these evil doers from certain matters that their lectures and discussions always revolve around, from them is that they always call for rebellion and revolution in the Muslim lands and against the Muslim rulers; they declare the Muslim rulers and those who work in the apparatus of government to be apostates; they praise the suicide bombers and terrorists and insurgencies in Iraaq, Palestine and other places and continually justify their actions; they may praise the bombings of 9/11 in New York, 7th July bombings in London or the Madrid bombings. These discussions of theirs may not necessitate that they themselves will organize or carry out terrorist acts but this speech of theirs incites others towards violence. Remember it only takes two or three young men (or women) who have been affected to go out and wreak havoc. The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alaihi wassallam), mentioned these renegades (known as the Khawarij) in a narration, ‘’If I am alive when they appear, I will slaughter them with the slaughtering of Aad.’’ And Aad was a tribe mentioned in the Qur’aan that was punished by Allaah for their evils and transgressions. He also stated, ‘’They are the worst of Allaah’s creation under the sky.’’ There are many, many other narrations of the Prophet and his Companions describing them, to the extent that Shaikhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and Imaam an-Nawawee, two great scholars of the middle ages, stated the consensus of the great Scholars of the early generations of Islaam that these renegades must be prevented and fought against. So when one looks at the activities of these people such as the killing of men, women and children, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, one sees that they are indiscriminate in their murderous acts.
After what has been mentioned above one can see why the Scholars of Salafiyyah have issued verdicts calling people to inform the authorities if they know of anyone inciting or planning terrorist acts. There is NO doubt that those make a link between terrorism and what they term as ‘’The Wahhaabis’’, intending by that the Salafis, have made a mythical link based upon fallacies and falsehood. The great Scholar Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhaab (died 1206AH), after whom his adversaries invented the derogatory term ‘Wahhaabi’ for anyone who studied his works – then this Scholar was the most fervent in his opposition to deviation and deviant ideologies. Rather the Salafis, whom the opposers term as Wahhaabis, have been at the forefront of combating the takfeeri, Jihaadi and Terrorist ideologies, for decades. And this refutation of the Salafi scholars against these groups was not just a mere response to modern-day events but rather a religious obligation upon them regardless of prevailing circumstances.
So Syed Qutb, the father and reference point of the modern-day Jihadist-terrorist movements, was refuted by the Salafi Scholars for his call to assassinations and violent revolution decades ago and again in the early nineties by the likes of the Salafi scholars such as Shaikh Bin Baaz, Shaikh Bin Uthaimeen and especially in great detail by Shaikh Rabee bin Haadee al-Madkhalee who authored several books in exposition of Syed Qutb. Shaikh Bin Baaz warned and exposed the evil doctrine of Usamah bin Laden back in the early nineties, whilst the Islamic political groups were in praise of him. Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi is another reference point for the modern day violent politically motivated groups, yet the Salafi Scholars such as Shaikh Rabee al-Madkhali, Shaikh Ubaid al-Jaabiree, Shaikh Hammaad al-Ansaaree exposed his errors and warned against his approach.
Another example is the warning of the Salafi Yemeni Scholar Muqbil bin Haadee against the HAMAS of Palestine whilst the latter were supporting terrorist attacks on civilian buses in Israel. We also have the Scholarly Salafi stance against Hizbollah of south Lebanon and former leader of Iran, Khomeini such as the statements of Shaikh Bin Baz, Shaikh Bin Uthaimin, Shaikh Ahmad an-Najmi and others. Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen in his now published explanation of ‘Riyaadhus-Saaliheen’ well over fifteen years ago showed his clear abhorrence at the suicide bombings in Palestine. So this is the clarity with which the Salafis speak and have always spoken. Over a thousand years of Salafi authorship, from the time of the disciples of the Prophet until this day, the Scholars of Sunnah and Salafiyyah have been refuting the false ideologies, whether extremist or negligent – Whereas the people of deviation will respond based upon political expediency, but the underlying ideology in support of revolution and suicide attacks remains”. [Ref 25] [End of quote]
Therefore, we must not be easy going with this affair, rather it is an obligation to rebut the ideaology of the extremists and report them to both the Muslim and Non-Muslim Authorities.
