In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Allaah [The Most High] says in Surah Al-Muminoon Aayaat 45-47:
[ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَـٰنٍ۬ مُّبِينٍ – Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority]; [ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوۡمًا عَالِينَ- To Fir’aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting].
Meaning: They turned away from Eemaan due to pride and became haughty in the presence of Allaah’s Prophets. They have been described as those who were arrogant in the earth- overpowered others, caused corruption in the earth and thus became haughty.
Then Allaah [The Most High] says that they said: [ فَقَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَيۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُون – They said: Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like?)]:
This statement of Fir’awn and his chiefs is similar to that of the previous nations when their Messengers came to them with Allaah’s Message of Tawheed, therefore they resemble each other due to their disbelief, statements and deeds.Firawn and his chiefs wilfully denied the favour-Messenger ship- which Allaah bestowed on Moosaa and Haaroon [alayhimas salaam].
He and his chiefs held that it was impossible for them to follow the path of Moosaa and Haaroon [alayhimas salaam], because Bani Israaeel were the ones who serve them, so how can they be leaders over them! This view of Fir’awn and his chiefs is similar to what Allaah [The Most High] says about the people of Nuh [alayhis-salaam] in Surah Ash-Shura’aa Ayah 111 that they said: [أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ – Shall we believe in you, when the lowest (of the people) follow you?]. Allaah [The Most High] also says in Surah Hud Ayah 27 that the people of Nuh [alayhis-salaam] said: [وَمَا نَرَٮٰكَ ٱتَّبَعَكَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِىَ ٱلرَّأۡىِ – Nor do we see any follow you but the lowest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking].
