”All Human beings Are Born Free and Equal In Dignity and Rights!”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

[1] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh [may Allaah preserve him] said that Allaah said:

[وَلَقَدۡ كَرَّمۡنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِى ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَرَزَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ ڪَثِيرٍ۬ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَا تَفۡضِيلاً۬ – And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference]. [Surah Al-Israa. Aayah 70]

I praise and thank Allaah, who knows everything about what He has created and He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves), All-Aware (of everything). He is praised with all good – praised for His commands, prohibitions, divine legislation and what He has created. It is He who guided humankind and commanded them with what will lead them to perfection and wellbeing in their worldly life and afterlife. He alone is deserving of abundant (unlimited) praise just as He bestowed on us abundant (innumerable) blessings. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone and He has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is Allaah’s slave and Messenger. May Allaah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family and companions. To proceed:
O my brothers! Indeed, these are blessed hours when one learns something about his religion which he did not know or he (recalls) and consolidate what he forgot after a period of time – affairs he forgot unintentionally due to the many affairs and being preoccupied with other things.

There is no doubt that no other divine legislation came to the people that is more perfect than the Islamic legislation. Allaah gave every Prophet a law and a path, and He made Muhammad’s law a complete and perfect law, perfectly suitable until the day of judgement- suitable for every era and place. [Ref A] [NB: Must refer to footnotes of this reference at the end of the article]

Muhammad’s law solves every problem, preserves every obligation that should be fulfilled, raises every affair that honours the human being, honours the Muslim and raises him because he carries the message of pure Islamic monotheism. So due to this, it is obligated on everyone to be acquainted with the virtues of this divine legislation, know its rulings, its goals and underlying wisdoms, the obligations it has laid down and what inspires them to preserve and call to it, and that they do not pay attention to any caller to misguidance – those who want to hinder humankind from the truth through different terms and slogans. [i.e. Those who are eager to ridicule and make it look repugnant, in order to make people flee from it. See Tafseer as-Sadi. Surah Ibraaheem. Aayaat 1-3]
We praise and thank Allaah for including us amongst those who have accepted and submitted to this divine legislation- those who learn and strive to follow the behaviour of Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah upon him].

Allaah created the heavens and the earth for the fulfilment of two obligations – His Rights and the rights of His servants. Every Messenger and the divine scriptures were sent to explain these two obligations- (a): Worship Allaah alone, disbelieve in all the rivals and false gods that are associated with Him as partners, and (b): Obey His Messenger in that particular era and place. Allaah revealed His Books and sent His Messengers to establish these two obligations.

Allaah [The Exalted] said: [لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَأَنزَلۡنَا مَعَهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ ٱلنَّاسُ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ – Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice]. [Surah Al-Hadeed. Aayah 25]

Allaah said: [وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِى ڪُلِّ أُمَّةٍ۬ رَّسُولاً أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ – And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).”] [ Surah An-Nahl. Aayah 36]

And because of this, the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “O Mu’adh, do you know what is the right of Allah upon His servants?” I said, “Allah and his messenger know best.” The Prophet said, “To worship Him alone and to associate none in worship with Him. And do you know what is their right upon Him?” I said, “Allah and his messenger know best.” The Prophet said, “Not to punish them if they do so.” [Bukhaari 6938]

The obligations which all the divine laws brought in general and the Islamic legislation in specific are: To fulfil Allaah’s Right, fulfil the rights of the creation and the rights of the human being. There is no doubt that this will be made very clear when you contemplate on Allaah’s Book and the Sunnah of His Messenger. [Source: listen here: https://video.link/w/j4azb paraphrased]

Ref A: The implementation of Sharee’ah Law is the responsibility of Muslim governments and not the insurgents, such as ISIS and their ilk. Likewise, the call to Islaam does not begin with the call to establish an Islamic State nor the implementation of Sharee’ah Law on the people, rather it begins with the call to pure Islamic Monotheism. [2] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Whosoever desires honour, then to Allah belong all honour. To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (the goodly words i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allah unless and until they are followed by good deeds), but those who plot evils, theirs will be severe torment. And the plotting of such will perish. [Surah Al-Faatir. Aayah 10]

[مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًا – Whosoever desires honour then to Allah belong all honour, power and glory]- Meaning, let him seek it through sincere obedience to Allaah, because indeed he will not find it except through obedience to Allaah. Some of the pious predecessors used to supplicate:[اللهم اعزني بطاعتك ولا تذلني بمعصيتك – O Allaah! Grant me honour through obedience to you and do not humiliate me through disobedience to you].

Therefore, whoever seeks honour, then let him seek it through sincere obedience to Allaah by way of uttering good speech and righteous deeds. [An Excerpt from Badaa’i At-Tafseer Al-Jaami Limaa Fassarahu Al-Imaam Ibnul Qayyim Vol 2. pages 346-347]

O you the one who wants honour! Seek it from the one in whose hand it, because indeed honour is in Allaah’s Hand and cannot be attained except through obedience to Allaah. And Allaah has mentioned this in His statement: [إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ الْكَلِمُ الطَّيِّبُ-To Him ascend (all) the goodly words]- Meaning, such as recitation of the Qur’an, utterance of Subhaanallaah, Alhamdulil laah and Laa Ilaaha illal laah. All good speech ascend to Allaah and is presented to Him, and Allaah praises the one who uttered it. The righteous deeds also ascend to Him – the deeds of the heart and the limbs. Allaah raises the status of a person and honours him by these righteous deeds that ascend to Him.
As for evil deeds, they are the opposite. The perpetrator wants to be raised by way of them, plots and plans, but this will haunt him and he is not increased except in ignominy and degradation. This is why Allaah said: [وَالْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ يَرْفَعُهُ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ ۖ وَمَكْرُ أُولَٰئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ – And the righteous deeds exalt it (the goodly words i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allah unless and until they are followed by good deeds), but those who plot evils, theirs will be severe torment. [وَمَكْرُ أُولَٰئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ-And the plotting of such will perish] – Meaning, destroyed and annihilated. It will not benefit them in anything because they plotted by way of falsehood and for the sake of falsehood. [An Excerpt from Tafseer As-Sadi. Slightly paraphrased]

[3] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we ask them, ”Why did Allaah create us?” Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures). Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong. And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a portion of torment like to the evil portion of torment (which came for) their likes (of old), so let them not ask Me to hasten on! Then, woe to those who disbelieve (in Allah and His Oneness Islamic Monotheism) from (that) their Day which they have been promised (for their punishment). [Surah Adh-Dhaariyaat. 56-60]

[4] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

So set you (O Muhammad ) your face towards the religion of pure Islamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah Alone) Allah’s Fitrah (i.e. Allah’s Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq–illah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. (Always) Turning in repentance to Him (only), and be afraid and dutiful to Him; and perform the prayer and be not of Al–Mushrikun (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, idolaters, etc.)- of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left the true Islamic Monotheism), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the religion (Bid’ah), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it. [Surah Ar-Rum. 30-32]

[5] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Does not man see that We have created him from Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge semen drops). Yet behold! He (stands forth) as an open opponent. And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: “Who will give life to these bones when they have rotted away and became dust?” Say: (O Muhammad ) “He will give life to them Who created them for the first time! And He is the All-Knower of every creation!” [Surah Yaa Seen. 77-79]

[6] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become pious, who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped). [Surah Al-Baqarah. 21-22]

[7] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, We created man of the best stature (mould), then We reduced him to the lowest of the low [in the hell fire due to his evil deeds], except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds, then they shall have a reward without end (Paradise). [Surah At-Teen. 4-6]

[8] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

He it is Who has made you successors generations after generations in the earth, so whosoever disbelieves (in Islamic Monotheism) on him will be his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but hatred with their Lord. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but loss. [Surah Al-Faatir. 39]

[9] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Does man think that he will be left Suda [neglected without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord (Allah) on him]? Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge of semen) poured forth? Then he became an ‘Alaqa (a clot); then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion. And made him in two sexes, male and female. Is not He (Allah Who does that), Able to give life to the dead? (Yes! He is Able to do all things). [Surah Qiyaamah. 36-40]

[10] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islamic Monotheism) from the Fire! Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, as Mufsidun (those who associate partners in worship with Allah and commit crimes) on earth? Or shall We treat the pious as the Fujjar (criminals, disbelievers, wicked, etc)? [Surah Saad. 27-28]

[11] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad ) as We inspired Nuh (Noah) and the Prophets after him; We (also) inspired Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma’il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’qub (Jacob)], ‘Iesa (Jesus), Ayub (Job), Yunus (Jonah), Harun (Aaron), and Sulaiman (Solomon), and to Dawud (David) We gave the Zabur (Psalms). And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, – and to Musa (Moses) Allah spoke directly. Messengers as bearers of good news as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allah after the Messengers. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise. [Surah An-Nisaa. 163-165]

[12] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And We have fastened every man’s deeds to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open. (It will be said to him): “Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoner against you this Day.” Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his ownself. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray to his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear another’s burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning). [Surah Al-Israa. 13-15]

[13] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And say: “The truth is from your Lord.” Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). And if they ask for help (relief, water, etc.) they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible the drink, and an evil Murtafaqa (dwelling, resting place, etc.)! Verily! As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, certainly! We shall not suffer to be lost the reward of anyone who does his (righteous) deeds in the most perfect manner. These! For them will be ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens); wherein rivers flow underneath them, therein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine and thick silk. They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good is the reward, and what an excellent Murtafaqa (dwelling, resting place, etc.)! [Surah Al-Kahf. 29-31]

[14] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur’an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection. He will say: ”O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)”. (Allah) will say: “Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah’s Mercy).” And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allah) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Qur’an, etc.], and believes not in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting. [Surah Taa Haa. 124-127]

[15] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands, he will say: “Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger ( Muhammad ). “Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend! “He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Qur’an) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need.” [Surah Al-Furqaan. 27-29]

[16] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, so we say to them that Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Their allies deceived them) like Shaitan (Satan), when he says to man: “Disbelieve in Allah.” But when (man) disbelieves in Allah, Shaitan (Satan) says: “I am free of you, I fear Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!” So the end of both will be that they will be in the Fire, abiding therein. Such is the recompense of the Zalimun (i.e. polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in Allah and in His Oneness, etc.). [Surah Al-Hashr. 16-17]

[17] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and we are liberated”, so we say to them that Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: ”If a liberated [or free person] says this and intends by it freedom from slavery to the creation, then yes he is free from slavery to the creation. However, if he intends by this that he is liberated (freed) from servitude to Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic], then indeed he has erred in his understanding of servitude and he does not understand the meaning of freedom. That is because servitude to other than Allaah is bondage. As for servitude to Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic], then this is real freedom because if he does not humble himself to Allaah, he will humble himself to other than Allaah. So he deceives himself when he says that he is free [or liberated]- meaning: he is liberated from obedience to Allaah”. [An Excerpt from ‘Al-Manaahiy al-Laf’dhiyyah: page: 117. slightly paraphrased]

[18] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and we utilise our intellects to judge between right and wrong and not the divine revelation”, so we say to them that Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

It has been stated that the reason behind Iblees being distanced [from Allaah’s Mercy] is because of false interpretation, for indeed he made an analogy with the text and gave precedence to the analogy over the text. He made a false interpretation about himself and that [his so called] rational analogy takes precedence over the command to prostrate. [Allaah informed us that Iblees said]:

[أنا خير منه – I am better than him [i.e. Aadam], and that a virtuous one cannot humble himself to one who has been given virtue over him; therefore he quickly said [as Allaah informed us that Iblees said]: [خلقتني من نار وخلقته من طين – You created me from fire, and him you created from clay]. Therefore, he thought that this rational analogy that resembles truth- even though it is false – will benefit him in his false interpretation. So, that which happened him happened and he became the leader of everyone- until the day of judgement- who makes a false interpretation of the texts of the revelation. How many a person in this world are followers of this cursed leader! And if you contemplate on the majority of those doubts that are made to resemble the truth by the false interpreters of the texts and seeking to nullify them, you will find that it is similar to the doubts of Iblees which he seeks to portray as truth. So, a person says: If the intellect and the text oppose each other, then give precedence to the intellect. This is where this principle is derived from and he [i.e. the proponent of this affair] use it as a fundamental principle through which he rejects those texts of the revelation which he claims are in opposition to the intellect, just as his leader Iblees claimed that a [so called] rational proof opposed the command to make sujood. This doubt came to him due to pride which prevented him from submitting to the clear texts of the revelation. Likewise, you find every false disputer against the texts of the revelation does so due to pride. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority having come to them, there is nothing else in their breasts except pride [to accept you (Muhammad ) as a Messenger of Allah and to obey you]. They will never have it (i.e. Prophethood which Allah has bestowed upon you). So seek refuge in Allah (O Muhammad from the arrogants). Verily, it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer]. [Surah Ghaafir. Aayah 56] [An Excerpt from ‘As-Sawaa’iq Al-Mursalah 1/371-372’. Slightly paraphrased]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “And even though there is something in the paths of analogical reasoning and reflection that will lead to knowledge, however sometimes it cannot give detail explanation in a dispute between the people of the earth due to the minute details and ambiguities [in that dispute], and at other times due to the fact the people differ when prioritising necessities. Therefore, due to this Allaah [The Most High] commanded [us] to return to the revelation in times of dispute. Allaah [The Most High] said:

Mankind were one community (i.e. upon Tawheed and Allaah’s Sharee’ah) and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed]. [Surah Al-Baqarah’ Aayah 213] Therefore, Allaah [The Most High] designated the revealed Books [i.e. the Qur’aan being the final of them] as the judge between the people in matters wherein they differ”. [Dar Ta’aarud Al-Aql Wan-Naql: 9/17-18]

Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr [may Allaah preserve him] said, “If you say that the intellect is to be given precedence over the revelation, then which intellect should we follow? Are the intellects of the people combined in the intellect of one man or do they differ? There are intellects of the philosophers, the atheists, the heretics, the people of evil desires and those who confound truth with falsehood; and due to this one of the pious predecessors said, ‘Had the desires been one, it would have been considered to be the [basis of] truth’; therefore, we say, ‘Had the intellects been one, it would have been considered to be the [basis of] truth’”. [Muqaddimah Fee Diraasah At-Tawheed’ by Shaikh Abdur-Razzaaq Al-Badr (may Allaah preserve him) Lesson: 3]

[19] They say, ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and look at our achievements”, so we say to them that Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: ”Allaah brought the servant out of his mother’s womb whilst he knew nothing, not able to do anything and owned nothing; neither able to give nor take; neither able to harm nor benefit. This state of neediness until he reached a more perfect state is something witnessed and tangible for everyone [to see], and i is well known that this is the very essence of the human being and he remains upon that state. He does not move from this state and enters into a state of Lordship – a state in which he becomes absolutely self-sufficient and not need of anyone and anything; rather he does not cease being a slave, a needy one to his Rabb [Allaah the Creator, All-Provider and the Only One Who Controls and Sustains Everything] and His Faatir [Allaah, The Originator and Creator of Everything]. However, after the human being was granted blessings, shown mercy, granted the means to reach a more perfect state, and Allaah -out of His Perfect Kindness and Generosity- granted him apparent blessings [i.e. to recognize the Messengers who were sent with Islamic Monotheism, granted him the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.] and the hidden blessings [i.e. granted him the innate disposition to recognize his Lord when the Messenger calls him to Eemaan, and granted him knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.], granted him hearing, sight and a heart, and taught him [i.e. gave him the means to knowledge], granted him ability, subjugated things to him, granted him [the desire and enthusiasm to pursue what is beneficial, and take action], enabled him to receive the service of those of his kind [i.e. gave him authority over other humans], subjugated to him horses and camels, gave him the ability to capture the animals in the sea, drop birds from the sky, subjugate wild animals, dig wells [irrigate water etc], plant trees, dig the earth, learn how to build, acquire the things that are of benefit to him, guard against and protect himself from that which is harmful to him; then the Miskeen [i.e. this absolutely poor, dependent human being] thinks that he has a share of authority and claims – for himself – a kingship [or authority] similar to that of Allaah [Glorified be Allaah and free is Allaah from all imperfections, partners, coequals, similarities etc], and begins to see himself in a manner other than what he was at first, forgets his [prior] state of non-existence, poverty and neediness, until he becomes as if he was not that poor and needy thing.[An Excerpt from Tareequl Hijratayn- By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahulaah). Pages 9-10. Slightly paraphrased]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Have they not travelled in the land, and seen what was the end of those before them, and they were superior to them in power? Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or in the earth escapes Him. Verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Omnipotent. And if Allah were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving (living) creature on the surface of the earth, but He gives them respite to an appointed term, and when their term comes, then verily, Allah is Ever All-Seer of His slaves. [Surah Al-Faatir. 44-45]

[20] Finally, we say to them, ”None of us should despair of the Mercy of our Lord, rather our Lord forgives when we return to Him in repentance. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Say: “O ‘Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. “And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped. “And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Qur’an, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!” Lest a person should say: “Alas, my grief that I was undutiful to Allah (i.e. I have not done what Allah has ordered me to do), and I was indeed among those who mocked [at the truth! i.e. La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), the Qur’an, and Muhammad and at the faithful believers, etc.] Or (lest) he should say: “If only Allah had guided me, I should indeed have been among the Muttaqun (pious). Or (lest) he should say when he sees the torment: “If only I had another chance (to return to the world) then I should indeed be among the Muhsinun (good-doers). Yes! Verily, there came to you My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and you denied them, and were proud and were among the disbelievers. And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allah (i.e. attributed to Him sons, partners, etc.) their faces will be black. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant ones? And Allah will deliver those who are the Muttaqun (pious) to their places of success (Paradise). Evil shall touch them not, nor shall they grieve. [Surah Az-Zumar. 53-61]

We ask Allaah to keep us steadfast upon Islaam until we meet Him and overlook our numerous shortcomings Aameen
