Muslim Rulers Have The Right to Defend Territories and Resources of Their Nations – [Brief Rebuttal of Those Who Want Them to Be Weak In The Face of False Claimants to Territory and Natural Resources]
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] said, “The Prophet peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘Verily, the leader is a shield behind whom they fight and he protects them. If he commands (people to) fear Allaah [The Exalted] and justice, then he will have a reward. If he commands something else, then it will be against him'”. [Ṣaḥeeh Muslim 1841]
Regarding the Prophet’s [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] statement, “The leader is a shield”, Imaam An-Nawawi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, ‘Meaning, he is like a shelter because he prevents the enemy from harming the Muslims, prevent the people from (harming) one another (i.e. establish justice), protects the Muslim nation and the people fear his authority (i.e. because he will establish justice against the oppressor). And the meaning of the Prophet’s [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] statement, ‘Behind whom they fight’, meaning, alongside him they fight against the disbelievers (i.e. those at war with his country), the rebels, the khaarijites and all the perpetrators of corruption and oppression'”. Amazing indeed is the affair of some of the neo-colonialists and ideologues – those who are quick to accuse a Muslim ruler of altering land marks and stealing territory when he commands a Muslim army to defend the borders, interests and resources of his nation, yet they [i.e. some of the neo-colonialists and ideologues] continue to pursue their own interests and openly support those who defend their borders. Absurd indeed is the claim of those adversaries of our Muslim rulers [i.e. Greece authorities at present] who demand that their little Islands on the continental shelf of a Muslim country [i.e. Turkey at present] should be given the same sovereign rights as their mainland! So, they desire that the open seas between their little Islands to their mainland should also be placed under their control. Does anyone expect the UK to make such claims against France just because there are quite a few of its Islands on France’s continental shelf?! But, when a Muslim ruler rejects these pathetic demands of the adversaries, they call them territory or natural resources grabbers! Likewise, there are those who desire that Saudi Arabia shows a weak stance against the aggressive Raafidah Hoothies. Indeed, the Muslim rulers have the right to defend the territories, resources and interests of their Nations as long as they are able to do so.
Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “Amongst the dangerous causes (of weakness)- their (bitter) fruits and what they necessitate – is that which has occurred in terms of weakness in the presence of the enemy and being delayed in everything – except what Allaah wills; inclining towards forbidden desires, preoccupation with what hinders from the path of Allaah and guidance, lack of preparation for the enemy in the arena of industry, not having sufficient weaponry that frightens the enemy, to help fight him, strive against him in Jihaad, taking one’s rights from him, not preparing the bodies for jihad and not spending money in what is obligatory (or befitting) to prepare for the enemy, guard against his evil, defend the religion and the homeland. The preparation is weak or non-existent and the goals are skewed, except that which Allaah wills. Therefore, the path of success, the path of progress against the enemies and the absence of weakness in front of them, the path of prosperity and success, the path to obtaining lofty status and the lofty things that are to be sought after, victory over the enemies- the path to all of this is to embrace beneficial knowledge and sound understanding in the religion, give precedence to Allaah’s pleasure over His displeasure, give close attention to what Allaah has obligated, abandon what Allaah has made unlawful and truthful repentance to Allaah from one’s sins and shortcomings”. Therefore, none vilifies a Muslim ruler when he defends the interests, territory and resources of the Muslim lands, except either an external enemy or their internal stooges.
As for the Khawaarij (ISIS and their Ilk), they do not have any authority, rather they are bandits, wicked innovators in religious affairs and terrorists. The believers obey their rulers in good, fulfil the agreements their rulers have made between their nations and other nations, and they behave well – whether residing in their native countries or abroad.
