In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Once again we hear allegations of sexual abuse, but many amongst the writers who influence public opinion refuse to submit to their Lord and thus they are turned away from guiding their people to the robust legislated divine precautions that are found in the final divine revelation. They tirelessly seek for solutions elsewhere, even though the final revelation sent to humankind contains everything that will solve our problems. Allaah [The Exalted] said:
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَہۡدِى لِلَّتِى هِىَ أَقۡوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرً۬ا كَبِيرً۬ا
Verily, this Quran guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad) who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward (Paradise). [Surah Al-Israa. Verse 9]
The Consequences – In This Life and The Next – of Turning Away From Allaah’s Guidance
Allaah [The Exalted] said:
وَمَن يَعۡشُ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ نُقَيِّضۡ لَهُ ۥ شَيۡطَـٰنً۬ا فَهُوَ لَهُ ۥ قَرِينٌ۬
وَإِنَّہُمۡ لَيَصُدُّونَہُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّہُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ
And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Verses 36-37]
Allaah [The Exalted] said:
But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection. He will say:”O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before).” (Allah) will say: “Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah’s Mercy).” And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allah) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Quran, etc.], and believes not in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting. [Surah Taa Haa. Verses 124-127]
The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “My example, and the example of what I have been sent with is that of a man who came to some people and said, O people! I have seen the enemy’s army with my own eyes and I am a plain warner; so protect yourselves!’ Then a group of his people obeyed him and fled at night proceeding stealthily till they were safe, while another group of them disbelieved him and stayed at their places till morning when the army came upon them and killed and ruined them completely. So this is the example of that person who obeys me and follows that truth which I have brought (the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), and the example of the one who disobeys me and disbelieves the Truth I have brought”. Some Robust Safeguards
True and sincere obedience to Allaah and the Messenger is The First Solid Foundation
Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] said:
Is it then he, who laid the foundation of his building on piety to Allah and His Good Pleasure, better, or he who laid the foundation of his building on an undetermined brink of a precipice ready to crumble down, so that it crumbled to pieces with him into the Fire of Hell. And Allah guides not the people who are the wrong doers. [Surah At-Tawbah. Verse 109]
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Whoever wants his building to be elevated, then it is incumbent upon him to strengthen and fortify its foundation, because the elevation of the building is based on the firmness and fortification of its foundation. Deeds are a building and (sound) belief (in Allaah and the Messenger) is their foundation. If the foundation is strong, it carries and elevates the building, and if a part of the building is damaged, it is easy for it to bear the (damage); but if the foundation is not firm, then neither will the building be elevated nor will it be firm. And if something from the foundation is damaged, the building will either collapse or close to that. Therefore, the duty of a knowledgeable person is that he makes the foundation sound and fortified. As for the ignorant person, he elevates(the building) whilst building upon other than a (strong) foundation, so his building does not remain. The foundation of deeds is like the physical strength of a person- if the strength is vigorous, the body will be able to withstand burden and repel many harmful things; but if it is weak, the body’s ability to withstand burden is weakened and harm quickly overcomes the person. Therefore, support your building (i.e. your actions and deeds) with the foundation of (sound belief in Allaah and the Messenger) because if something from the top of your building decays and falls down, then it would be much easier for the (building) to bear (the damage), rather than the destruction of the foundation. This foundation is based on two affairs: First, sound knowledge and awareness of Allaah, His Commandments, names and attributes. Second, complete submission to Allaah alone (i.e. by worshipping Him alone) and (unconditional obedience to) His Messenger alone. This is the firmest foundation upon which the slave establishes his building [i.e. his actions and deeds]. Therefore, one solidifies the foundation, preserves its strength and carries on being enthusiastic and thus what is desired (i.e. success in this life and the next) is attained (by the will of Allaah). Command to Believing Men to Lower Their Gaze
Al-Allaamah Saaleh al Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said, “Safety from the fitnah of women is by way of lowering the gaze, distancing oneself from paying attention to them and following them. Allaah [The Most High] said: [ قُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ – Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts from (illegal sexual acts). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what you do]. [Surah An-Noor. Verse 30]
Therefore, lower your gaze from that which Allaah has made forbidden and do not enter places of fitnah so that you are safeguarded. This is one of the means to safety from fitnah. (2)
Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] also said, “Lowering one’s gaze is a means to protecting the private parts and not restraining ones gaze is a means to corrupting the private parts. Therefore, if you want to protect your private parts from lewdness, lower your gaze. If you leave your eyesight roam about freely – looking at what Allaah has made unlawful, then indeed it will lead you to lewdness”. (3)
Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] also said, “Allaah commanded (us) to lower the gaze because the eyes are a means among the means to fornication. [Allaah said: قُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ – Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) 24:30]. Therefore, lowering the gaze is a means to protecting the private parts. And Allaah (جلال وعلا) said: [يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ – Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the breasts conceal (40:19)]
What is fraud of the eyes? It is when one steals a glance at what Allaah has forbidden. When (a person) is with the people and the people are looking at him, he lowers his gaze; but when he sees that they are inattentive, he steals a glance at the unlawful. This is the fraud of the eyes and Allaah knows about it. (4)
Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh [may Allaah preserve him] said, “It is neither permissible for a man to be in seclusion with a woman in a house, a car or another place, nor is it permissible for a woman to be in seclusion with a strange man in a house, a car or another place. This is due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] “Let not any of you be in seclusion with a woman, except in the presence of a male relative of hers” (i.e. a relative she is not allowed to marry, such as her father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather etc ). [Bukhaari and Muslim]
And also in (Bukhaari and Muslim) the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “A man is not secluded with a woman, except that shaytaan is the third of them”. The impermissible seclusion is that which includes behind closed doors or in a room, a car and what is similar to it, or being out of sight. These are the cases of forbidden seclusion and this is how it is defined by the jurists. (5)
Imaam Maymoon Bin Mehraan [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Do not go to a woman [i.e. a strange woman] even if you say, ‘I am going to teach him the Qur’aan and do not lend an ear to a person of desires [i.e. a proponent of religious innovations] because you do not know what your heart will become attached to”. (6)
Al-Alaa Bin Ziyaad [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Do not (allow) your eyes to follow the garment of a woman because one’s gaze places desire in the heart”. (7)
Those who turn Women into sexual objects in the name of so called freedom and liberty
Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “We find that at present our enemies focus on women issues – adorning women, intermingling them and make them share the same occupations with men, until it becomes as if the people are donkeys having no other concern except for their stomachs and canal desires, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought! Women are portrayed as if they are mere images – pictures (which) people attached no importance to except that which is connected to the woman’s figure (outward appearance). See how they have decorated and beautified her! See how they have brought about beautifications for her and presented her in a desirable condition, in relation to hair, skin, legs, arms, face and everything else, until they make it the most important issue for the woman- like a picture made out of plastic. They neither present to her the importance of establishing worship nor bearing children. (8)
Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] said, “Some women are clothed but naked, inclining to evil and seducing with it. They will not enter Paradise, nor smell its fragrance, even though it can be found from a distance of five hundred years of travel”. (9)
Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: This has been explained to mean that they will wear short clothing that does not cover the parts of the body one is obligated to cover [i.e. the entire body of a woman is to be covered besides the face and hands]. It has been explained to mean that they will wear revealing clothing that does not prevent one from seeing the woman’s skin. And it has been explained to mean that they will wear tifght clothing which covers the body, but reveals that which leads to trial through a woman. (10)
NB: Regarding the statement ”They will not enter Paradise, nor smell its fragrance, even though it can be found from a distance of five hundred years of travel”. Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, ”The sinners [i.e. those who die whilst committing sins lesser than Shirk] are under the will of Allaah- if Allaah wishes, He will either punish or forgive them straight away, or He enters them into hell for some time and paradise thereafter, just as Allaah said: [إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُۚ – Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases]. [Surah An-Nisaa’ Aayah 48] (11)
Free mixing in the schools and colleges
“Prevention is easier than repelling something (after it has occurred)”. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “This is principle of Islamic jurisprudence that was mentioned by Ibn Rajab [may Allaah have mercy upon him]. And in relation to its meaning is the statement of the doctors, “Prevention is easier than cure”, because prevention (necessitates) distancing oneself from evil and its causes. As for if evil occurs (i.e. due to not taking precaution), it becomes difficult for a person to remove it”. (12)
The committee of Senior Scholars (Saudi Arabia) stated: The reason behind the prohibition against free mixing between men and women is due to fear of falling into fitnah, lest it becomes a means to committing lewd acts; (a means) to violating the honour of women and corrupting the society. And indeed these affairs can become a greater reality through free mixing in education. Therefore, it (free mixing in education) is forbidden. (13)
Finally, a rebuke against those men who abuse the female folk of other people
Abu Umamah [may Allah be pleased with him] said, “A young man came to the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and said, ‘O Allaah’s Messenger! Allow me to commit illegal sexual intercourse’. The people turned to him to rebuke him and told him keep quiet. So the Prophet moved closer to him and he sat down. The Prophet said, ‘Would you like that for your mother?’ He said, ‘By Allaah! No. ay Allah make me your ransom’. He said, ‘The people do not like it for their mothers either’. Then he said, ‘Would you like it for your daughter?’ He said, ‘By Allaah! No. May Allah make me your ransom’. He said, ‘The people do not like it for their daughters either’. He said, ‘Would you like it for your sister?’ He said, ‘By Allaah! No. May Allah make me your ransom’. He said, ‘The people do not like it for their sisters either’. He said, ‘Would you like it for your paternal aunt?’ He said, ‘By Allaah! No. May Allah make me your ransom.” He said: “The people do not like it for their paternal aunts either’. He said, ‘Would you like it for your maternal aunt?’ He said, By Allah! No. May Allah make me your ransom’. He said, ‘The people do not like it for their maternal aunts either’. Then he placed his hand on him and said, ‘O Allah! Forgive his sins and cleanse his heart, and protect his chastity’. And after that the young man never thought of any such thing again”. (14)
We ask Allaah to protect us from all evil Aameen.
