“Save The Planet”, “Must Act Immediately” – [Mulhidoon Fearmongers and Alarmists Divert Attention From The Real Purpose Behind The Existence of The Earth]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become pious; who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped). [Surah Al-Baqarah. Verses 21-22]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And (remember) when We said to the angels: “Prostrate yourselves before Adam.”. And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). And We said: “O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimun (wrong-doers).” Then the Shaitan (Satan) made them slip therefrom (the Paradise), and got them out from that in which they were. We said: “Get you down, all, with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time.” Then Adam received from his Lord Words . And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful. We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Verses 34-39]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

He it is Who has made you successors generations after generations in the earth, so whosoever disbelieves (in Islamic Monotheism) on him will be his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but hatred with their Lord. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but loss. [Surah Al-Faatir. Verse 39]

So, they divert attention from that which is mentioned above and then exaggerate about the state of the earth! They are heedless of the fact that the final destruction of the earth and the end of this temporary worldly life is what a person should prepare for, because there will be no return to it thereafter; rather the destination will either be Jannah or Jahannam. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

إِنَّ لَدَيۡنَآ أَنكَالاً۬ وَجَحِيمً۬ا
) وَطَعَامً۬ا ذَا غُصَّةٍ۬ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمً۬ا
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَثِيبً۬ا مَّهِيلاً

Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. [Surah Al-Muzzammil. Verses 12-14]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, and your Lord comes with the angels in rows, and Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? He will say: “Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!” So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. And none will bind as He will bind. (It will be said to the pious): “O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! “Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! “Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, and enter you My Paradise!” [Surah Al-Fajr. Verses 21-30]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place; The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout, etc.) in truth, that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves i.e. the Day of Resurrection). Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return; on the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us. We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad ) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Qur’an, him who fears My Threat. [Surah Qaaf. Verses 41-45]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. And there can be no denying of its befalling. It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; when the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. And the mountains will be powdered to dust. So that they will become floating dust particles. And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). These will be those nearest to Allah. In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). [Surah Al-Waaqi’ah. Verses 1-12]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And (remember) the Day on which the Trumpet will be blown and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom Allah will (exempt). And all shall come to Him humbled. And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds. The Work of Allah, Who perfected all things, verily! He is Well-Acquainted with what you do. Whoever brings a good deed (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of Allah along with every deed of righteousness), will have better than its worth, and they will be safe from the terror on that Day. And whoever brings an evil (deed) (i.e. Shirk polytheism, disbelief in the Oneness of Allah and every evil sinful deed), they will be cast down (prone) on their faces in the Fire. (And it will be said to them) “Are you being recompensed anything except what you used to do?” [Surah An-Naml. Verses 87-90]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah will. Then it will blown a second time and behold, they will be standing, looking on (waiting). And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord (Allah, when He will come to judge among men) and the Book will be placed (open) and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward, and it will be judged between them with truth, and they will not be wronged. And each person will be paid in full of what he did; and He is Best Aware of what they do. [Surah Az-Zumar. Verses 68-70]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

So think not that Allah will fail to keep His Promise to His Messengers. Certainly, Allah is All-Mighty, – All-Able of Retribution. On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible. And you will see the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism, polytheists, disobedient to Allah, etc.) that Day bound together in fetters; [Muqarranun in fetters; mean:- with their hands and feet tied to their necks with chains.] Their garments will be of pitch, and fire will cover their faces. That Allah may requite each person according to what he has earned. Truly, Allah is Swift at reckoning. This (Qur’an) is a Message for mankind (and a clear proof against them), in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is the only One Ilah (God – Allah) – (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and that men of understanding may take heed. [Surah Ibraaheem. Verses 47-52]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), and the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing; then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall; and the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, and the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. [Surah Al-Haaqqah. Verses 13-18]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

When the heaven is split asunder, and listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; and when the earth is stretched forth; and has cast out all that was in it and became empty; and listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, he surely will receive an easy reckoning, and will return to his family in joy! But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, he will invoke (his) destruction, and shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. Verily, he was among his people in joy! Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! [Surah al-Inshiqaaq. Verses 1-15]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake. And when the earth throws out its burdens, and man will say: “What is the matter with it?” That Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil). Because your Lord has inspired it. That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds. So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. [Surah Az-Zalzalah]

Indeed, this is what we should give importance instead of fear mongering about saving the planet. They Say, “We are worried about behaviour of human beings due to manner in which they are destroying the earth through the beneficial worldly sciences!” Say to them, “Rectification cannot be achieved except through the final revelation, so read here”. https://salaficentre.com/2021/03/10/they-say-we-are-worried-about-behaviour-of-human-beings-due-to-manner-in-which-they-are-destroying-the-earth-through-beneficial-worldly-sciences/

We ask Allaah to include us amongst those who strive to fulfil the purpose of their existence in this temporary worldly life Aameen.

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).” Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). [Surah An-Nahl. Verse 36]

And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). When he said to his father and his people: “What are these images, to which you are devoted?” They said: ”We found our fathers worshipping them.” He said: “Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error.” They said: “Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?” He said: “Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. “And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. (See “Footnote A” at the end of the article)

They said: “Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers.” They said: “We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham).” They said: “Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify.” They said: “Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?” [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: “Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!” So they turned to themselves and said: “Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).” Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): “Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!” [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: “Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? “Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?” They said: “Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing.” We (Allah) said: “O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!” And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns). And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya’qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. [Surah Al-Anbiyaa. Verses 51-73]

Clarification Regarding UNESCO

One of UNESCO’s visions – as stated on their website – is to “Promote cultural heritage and the equal dignity of all cultures”. Question: What is the ruling on cultural heritage in Islam? Allaah [The Most High] said:

O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has the most fear of Allaah. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. [Surah Al-Hujuraat. Verse 13]

[لِتَعَارَفُوا – that you may know one another]: Meaning: So that you may know one another and how close you all are to one another in lineage, but not out of boastfulness. Then Allaah informed us that the most elevated amongst them [i.e. the children of Aadam] are those who fear Allaah the most. The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “Learn your lineages so that you can maintain ties of kinship. (1)

Ascription to a tribe and a nation is affirmed in Islaam. The companions of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] used to ascribe themselves to their tribes and their people in the presence of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], and he never disapproved of that. (2)

The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: Indeed, Allaah [The Most High] has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting about ancestors. One is only a pious believer or a wretched sinner. You are sons of Adam and Adam (was created from) dust. Let the people abandon boasting about their ancestors, for they are merely fuel in Jahannam; or they will become more insignificant in (the sight of) Allah than the beetle which rolls dung with its nose. (3)

Customs and Cultural Practices

Imaam Ash-Shaatibee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated in Al-Muwaafaqaat that customs are many different types- some are good and others are corrupt. The good customs are those that neither oppose the Sharee’ah texts nor lead to losing an affair deem to be beneficial by the Sharee’ah, nor lead to an affair which the Sharee’ah deems to be corrupt. As for the corrupt customs, they are those that oppose the evidences in the Sharee’ah or some of the principles of the Sharee’ah, such as some of the customary dealings in usury and those deeds deemed to be evil by the Sharee’ah which the people engage in during occasions of happiness (or rejoicing etc). (4]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Hardship is only encountered by the one who abandons the Ma’loofaat and Awaa’id [i.e. those habitual things, deeds, practices, customs etc] for other than the sake of Allaah. As for the one who abandons them truthfully and sincerely from the bottom of his heart- for the sake of Allaah alone- then indeed he does not encounter any difficulty due to abandoning them except in the beginning, in order that he is tested as to whether he is truthful or untruthful in abandoning them? If he exercises a little bit of patience, its [i.e. that abandonment] will alternate into pleasure. Ibn Seereen said that he heard Shurayh swearing by Allaah that “A servant does not abandon anything for the sake of Allaah and finds a loss in that.” And their statement [i.e. the people of knowledge] that ‘whoever abandons something for the Sake of Allaah, Allaah will replace it with what is better.” This is true. This compensation is of different types and the best of that which a person is compensated with is: the desire and yearning to get close to Allaah, seeking after Allaah’s pleasure, love of Allaah, and the heart granted-by way of it- tranquility, strength, enthusiasm, happiness and being pleased with its Lord [The Most High]. (5)

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: It is obligated on every Muslim that he does not depend on custom; rather he presents it to the pure Islamic legislation [to be judged], so whatever the Islamic legislation affirms is permissible and whatever it does not affirm is impermissible. The customs of the people are not proof to determine the lawfulness of anything. All the customs of the people in their countries or tribes must be presented to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] for judgement, so whatever Allaah and His Messenger made permissible is permissible, and whatever they forbid, then it is obligatory to abandon it even if it is the custom of the people. (6)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The customs cannot make something that is not legislated (in the divine revelation) as something legislated, because of Allaah’s statement: [وَلَيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرُّ بِأَن تَأۡتُواْ ٱلۡبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا – It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back] [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 189], despite the fact that it was something they took as their custom and considered it to be an act of righteousness. Whoever takes something as a custom and believes that it is an act of righteousness, then it should be presented to Allaah’s divine legislation. (7)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] also said: Extremism in related to customs is stringent adherence to old customs and not diverting to what is better than them. As for if the customs are equal in benefit [i.e. the ones judged to be permissible by the divine legislation], then a person remaining upon what he is upon would be better than going along with the new (or emerging) customs. (8)

Therefore, the Muslim PSHE or RE teacher should beware of using UNESCO as a reference point when speaking about cultures; rather he or she must make very clear – to the Muslim students and pupils – the correct approach in this affair as stated in the infallible divine revelation [The Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah]. This vision of UNESCO necessitates that the Shirk and un-Islamic practices found in cultures are given the same virtue and dignity, even though Allaah said:

حُنَفَآءَ لِلَّهِ غَيۡرَ مُشۡرِكِينَ بِهِۦ‌ۚ وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَخۡطَفُهُ ٱلطَّيۡرُ أَوۡ تَهۡوِى بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِى مَكَانٍ۬ سَحِيقٍ۬

Hunafaa’ Lillaah [i.e. worship none but Allaah], not associating partners [in worship, etc.] with Him; and whoever associates partners to Allaah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far-off place. [Surah Al-Hajj. Verse 31]
[حُنَفَآءَ لِلَّهِ ]- Meaning: turn to Allaah (in complete submission), worship Allaah alone and turn away from other than that. [غَيۡرَ مُشۡرِكِينَ بِهِۦ‌ۚ – not associating partners (in worship, etc.) with Him]; [وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ – and whoever associates partners to Allaah], then [فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَخۡطَفُهُ ٱلطَّيۡرُ أَوۡ تَهۡوِى بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِى مَكَانٍ۬ سَحِيقٍ۬ – it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place].

This is the situation of the one the who ascribes (or associates a partner to Allaah), because sound creed is like the sky- protected and raised high, so whoever abandons sound creed is like one who has fallen from the sky and is exposed to evil consequences and disasters- snatched by birds that will rip his limbs. Likewise, when the Mushrik (one who ascribed partners to Allaah) abandons the protection of sound creed, the devils snatch him from every direction and rip him apart, ruining both his religion and worldly life [i.e. because this worldly life is a place to perform righteous deeds for entry into paradise]. (9)

Allaah made it known in this verse that indeed the one who associates partners with Allaah and dies without repenting, then indeed he has fallen into destruction – neither has a way out of it nor can he be saved. He resembles someone who falls from the sky and lands on the earth and thus all his body is rip apart, the birds snatch them away and the wind throws them to a far-off place due to the intense (manner in which the) wind blew his ripped body parts. So, whoever is described as one in such a situation, then indeed neither can he hope for a way out nor can he desire safety; rather he is definitely destroyed, because what normally happens is that the one who falls from the sky and lands on the earth, he does not reach the earth except that his body parts are ripped apart. And (if) the birds snatch his body parts and disperse with them, or the wind throws him to a far-away place, then this is an inevitable destruction and there is no way of avoiding it.

And that which is established in this noble verse – regarding the fact that the one who associates partners with Allaah is destroyed – has also been mentioned clearly in another place in the Qur’aan, such as the statement of Allaah: [إِنَّهُ ۥ مَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَمَأۡوَٮٰهُ ٱلنَّارُ‌ۖ – Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Aayah 72]

Allaah said: [إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِ -Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship]. [Surah An-Nisaa Aayah 48]

And indeed there are other Aayaat (showing) that this inescapable destruction is related to the one who dies upon shirk and did not repent. As for the one who repents before death, then indeed Allaah forgives Him because Islaam [i.e. submission to Allaah with Tawheed] wipes away that which was before it [i.e. shirk]. There are a number of verses that indicate to this, such as the statement of Allaah: [قُل لِّلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُوٓاْ إِن يَنتَهُواْ يُغۡفَرۡ لَهُم مَّا قَدۡ سَلَفَ – Say to those who have disbelieved, if they cease (from disbelief) their past will be forgiven]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Aayah 38]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds. [Surah Al-Furqaan. Verses 68-70]

Allaah said: [وَإِنِّى لَغَفَّارٌ۬ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحً۬ا – And verily, I am indeed Forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds]. [Surah Taahaa. Aayah 82] However, if one’s repentance is at the time of death [i.e. when the soul reaches the throat], it will not benefit him. (10) Ibn Umar [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Verily, Allah accepts the repentance of his servants, as long as the soul has not reached the throat”. [Sunan At-Tirmidhee 3537] Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] said that Alalah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “When three things appear, faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from his faith: the rising of the sun in its place of setting, the Dajjal, and the beast of the earth”. [Saheeh Muslim. Number 158]

Therefore, the Muslim PSHE or RE teacher should be careful when presenting this topic regarding cultural heritage because even though there is neither compulsion in religion nor is a Muslim allowed to oppress anyone, but also there is no such thing as “equal dignity of all cultures”, rather the only dignified way of life is the one that agrees with the final infallible revelation [The Qur’aan and aunthetic Sunnah]. So, this vision of UNESCO is founded upon a principle that will uproot sound Walaa Wal Baraa. Read here: Al-Walaa Wal Baraa (Loyalty and Disavowal for the Sake of Allaah): https://salaficentre.com/2021/02/07/al-walaa-wal-baraa-loyalty-and-disavowal-is-a-concept-of-modern-salafi-islam-brief-rebuttal-against-this-absurd-claim-of-some-of-the-bald-faced-liars-amongst-the-demagogues-ideologues-and-rabble/

Finally, even though Muslims are commanded to reject shirk, rebut shirk and keep away from all its manifestations (its beliefs, creeds, practices, ideologies, thoughts, views, opinions etc), but they are also commanded to live peacefully with others. Footnote A: Prophet Ibraaheem [peace be upon him] broke the idols, but this does not mean that we take the law into our own hands when we see un-Islamic practices; rather we adhere to the law of the land we are living in. Question to Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him]: Is enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil by the hand obligated on all Muslims, or is it limited to those in authority and their deputies?

Answer: Stopping wrong is obligated on all Muslims according to their ability, because the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] “Anyone of you who sees evil [i.e. that which is declared an evil deed by Islam], let them stop it with their hand; if he cannot, then with their tongue; and if they cannot, then with his heart, and that is the weakest of Imaan’’. [Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi & others]

However, stopping evil by the hand must be based on ability and should not result in greater corruption or evil. A man has the right to rectify matters with his hand in his home [i.e. based on what the law of the land allows him]; a manager has the authority to make changes with the hand within the organization they are responsible for, in accordance with the instructions that were given to them [i.e. the authority given to them by the state authorities]; otherwise, people should not change with their hand anything they are not authorized to change. If they do make changes in matters that they have no authority over, this will result in more evil and great corruption between them and the people and between the people and the state. In this case they should stop evil with their tongue (by speaking out). They may say: ‘’O such and such! Fear Allaah! This is not permissible; this is Haraam, or This is obligated on you,’’ and clarify it with evidence from Sharee’ah. [NB: In the UK, objecting to certain behaviour can be viewed as harassment or verbal abuse, therefore a Muslim should be aware of what the law allows him before he says or does anything whilst living in the West]. As for changing matters with the hand, this should be done where one has authority, such as one’s home [i.e. within what the law allows], with those under one’s responsibility, or those authorized by the ruler, such as organizations given permission and authority to enjoin Good. They should make changes in accordance with the authority they have been given- in the way prescribed by the Sharee’ah, without exceeding their jurisdiction. The same applies to the governor of a city; he should make changes with his hand, in accordance with the instructions he has. [Fataawa Ibn Baaz 8/208]

We ask Allaah for safety Aameen.

Babylon International Festival (Iraq)- [It is Not Allowed to Revive Forbidden Pre-Islamic Customs]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Exalted] said: [وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشۡهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِٱللَّغۡوِ مَرُّواْ ڪِرَامً۬ا – And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity]. [Surah Al-Furqan. Aayah 72]: https://www.dailysabah.com/arts/events/iraqs-babylon-fest-returns-after-18-year-hiatus

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: They do not attend the gatherings of falsehood and when go past anything that is utilized in falsehood – whether in speech or actions, they behave in an honorable manner and do not stand there to witness or incline towards it. (1)

Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The most hated people to Allaah are three: a person who deviates from right conduct [i.e. an evil doer] in the Haram [sanctuaries of Makkah and Medeenah]; a person who seeks that the traditions of the pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance should remain in Islam and a person who seeks to shed somebody’s blood without any right”.

Al-Allaamah Zaid Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khalee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “These three deeds are from the major sins. The first major sin is Al-Ilhaad Fil Haram [i.e. deviating from right conduct in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah]. Ilhaad means to deviate from the truth [and enter into] falsehood, and supporting falsehood in order to obliterate the truth. Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] censured the Mulhideen Fil Haram [i.e. those who deviate from right conduction in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah], saying: [وَمَن يُرِدۡ فِيهِ بِإِلۡحَادِۭ بِظُلۡمٍ۬ نُّذِقۡهُ مِنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ۬ – And whoever intends evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practise polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), We shall make him taste a painful torment]. [Surah Al-Hajj. Aayah 25]

Allaah promised them [a severe punishment] due to the mere fact they intend evil actions therein [i.e. in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah], then how about perpetrating such deed! Indeed that would be a more severe sin, a more frightening state and a more severe punishment. This is a proof regarding the virtue of the sanctuaries of the Haram- that it is a sacred land chosen by Allaah and He made it a place where virtuous acts of worship are performed, [such as] the Hajj which is one of the pillars of Islaam. Allaah gave this place virtues that cannot be enumerated, such as the increased reward attached to good deeds [performed in Makkah and Madeenah] and gave this land virtue over all other lands of the earth.

The second major sin is committed by the person who wants that the pre-Islamic traditions should remain in Islaam, as if he gives precedence to the pre-Islamic traditions – the evil customs that were followed during that period and the misguided deeds- over the Islamic practices, Eemaan, Ihsaan, their virtue and virtue of the Sunnah. He is guilty of committing a major sin, and this includes giving precedence to Bidah over [the authentic] Sunnah that guides to the straight path.

The third major sin is to seek to shed somebody’s blood without any right – meaning: seeking to shed the blood of a Muslim without right and doing so based on oppression and animosity. Shedding the blood of a Muslim is a great crime, just as the Prophet said, “The extinction of the whole world is less significant to Allaah than killing a Muslim [i.e. unlawfully]”. And he [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] stated regarding the rights of the Ka’bah, “How great you are and how great is your sanctity! But the sanctity of a believer is greater than yours in the sight of Allaah”.

It is not permissible to transgress against the Muslims and the believers – males and females- in the sanctuaries of [Makkah and Madeenah] or in other places due to the great sin and punishment which results from that. (2)

The Youth Came and Was Passionate About “The Climate Change (Global Warming Debate)”, So We Tried to Deradicalize Him!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

They asked: Whose side do you take – the IPCC [The United Nations International Panel on Climate Change] or other scientists?

Response: Firstly, there are more important affairs in the life of an individual – in this temporary worldly life – than preoccupying oneself with this debate and disagreement.

Secondly, most of those engaged in this debate are not people who ponder upon the signs of Allaah. Therefore, it would have been better for them to ponder upon the signs of Allaah. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Not alike are the blind and the seeing. Nor are (alike) the darkness and the light. Nor are (alike) the shade and the sun’s heat. Nor are (alike) the living and the dead. Verily, Allah makes whom He will hear, but you cannot make hear those who are in graves. You (O Muhammad) are only a warner. Verily! We have sent you with the truth, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them. [Surah Al-Faatir. Aayaat 19-24]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Allaah [The Exalted] informed us that the opposites are not the same based on what His Wisdom necessitates and that which is placed in the sound natural disposition of His slaves.

[وَمَا يَسْتَوِي الْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْبَصِيرُ – Not alike are the blind and the seeing]-Meaning, just as it established in their midst – without any doubt – that these mentioned things are not equal (or are not the same), then likewise they should know that the opposites (related to beliefs, acts of worship, deeds) are even more so not the same. Neither are the believer and the disbeliever the same nor are the guided one and the misguided one the same. Neither is the knowledgeable person the same as the ignorant one nor are the inhabitants of paradise and hell the same. Neither are those whose hearts are dead (due to disbelief) the same as those whose hearts are alive (due to Eemaan). There is a (huge) difference between these things of that which none knows besides Allaah. So, if one knows their different statuses, makes a distinction between the affairs and it becomes clear regarding the affair that is obligated on you to compete one another and attain, as opposed to its opposite, then the determined one would choose for himself that which is more worthy and has more right to be given precedence.

[ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَن يَشَاءُ – Verily, Allah makes whom He will hear]- Meaning, the hearing (that leads to sound) understanding and acceptance of truth, because indeed Allaah is the guide and the one who bestows guidance.

[وَمَا أَنتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَّن فِي الْقُبُورِ- But you cannot make hear those who are in graves] – Meaning, those whose hearts are dead (due to disbelief, wicked deeds etc); or just as your supplication cannot benefit the inhabitants of the graves in anything (except by the will of Allaah), likewise it does not benefit the one who turns away – the stubborn one – in anything (except by the will of Allaah), but your job is to warn and propagate what you are sent for, whether it is accepted from you or not. This is why Allaah said:

إِنْ أَنتَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ

You [O Muhammad] are only a wamer. Verily! We have sent you with the truth). Meaning, We only sent you with the truth, because indeed Allaah sent you after a period in which there were no Messengers when people deviated from the right path and were deprived of knowledge, and there was a great need to send you. So, Allaah sent you as a mercy to the creation. Likewise, the upright religion and the straight path with which We sent you is truth and not false, and likewise this great Qur’aan with which We have sent you – which gathers the wise reminder – is the (only) Haqq [i.e. truth that addresses the real state of affairs and there is no way of rejecting it] and it is Sidq [i.e. the only truth that passes perfect and infallible judgement on the real state of affairs].

You (O Muhammad) are a warner- Meaning, you convey glad tidings of Allaah’s reward in this life and the next for the one who obeys you, and a warner to the one who disobeys you regarding Allaah’s punishment in this life and the next, and you are not a new thing amongst the Messengers, because [وَإِن مِّنْ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا خَلَا فِيهَا نَذِيرٌ- And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them]- Meaning, the previous nations and generations. Allaah’s proofs were established on them, [لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَىٰ مَنْ حَيَّ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ- So that those who were to be destroyed (for their rejecting the Faith) might be destroyed after a clear evidence, and those who were to live (i.e. believers) might live after a clear evidence. (Surah Al-Anfaal. Aayah 42)] (1)

Allaah (The Most High) said:

Say (O Muhammad ): “Tell me! If Allah made night continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilah (a god) besides Allah who could bring you light? Will you not then hear?” Say (O Muhammad ): “Tell me! If Allah made day continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilah (a god) besides Allah who could bring you night wherein you rest? Will you not then see?” It is out of His Mercy that He has put for you night and day, that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of His Bounty (i.e. during the day), and in order that you may be grateful. [Surah Al-Qasas. Aayaat 71-73]

The (night and day) are a bestowal from Allaah to His servants and this should make them thankful, worship Allaah alone and fulfil His Rights. Allaah- out of His Mercy- created the day for them in order that they may seek after His Bounties- seeking after their provisions and livelihoods during daylight. And Allaah created the night for them (as a means of) rest and repose- (allowing) their bodies and souls to take a rest due to tiredness after work during the day. This is a bounty of Allaah (bestowed) on His servants and Mercy (from Him). Is there anyone who is able to do this (besides Allaah)?

Regarding the night [i.e. after Allaah mentioned that He was the one who appointed the night for them], He said: [أَفَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ -Then will you not then hear], and regarding the day [i.e. after Allaah mentioned that He was the one who appointed the day for them], He said: [أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ – Then will you not then see?]. This is because the (faculty) of hearing is sharper than the (faculty) of sight during night time, and the (faculty) of sight is sharper than the (faculty) of hearing during day time.

In these verses (i.e. Al-Qasas 71, 72 & 73) the servant is exhorted to ponder upon the blessings Allaah has bestowed on them. He should contemplate regarding what the situation would have been if such blessings were absent, because if a servant were to contemplate on the situation due to the presence of such blessings compared to what the situation would have been if such blessings were absent, he will realise the (great) station of this favour, contrary to the one who merely goes along with the normal state of affairs and considers (these favours) as something that will neither cease nor come to an end. So his heart is hindered from praising Allaah for these blessings and from realising that he is in need of Allaah every time. This neither prompts his thoughts towards thanksgiving nor remembrance. (2)

Allaah [The Most High] said:
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَجَعَلَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ وَٱلنُّورَ‌ۖ ثُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّہِمۡ يَعۡدِلُونَ

All praises and thanks be to Allah, Who (Alone) created the heavens and the earth, and originated the darkness and the light, yet those who disbelieve hold others as equal with their Lord. [Surah Al-An’aam. Verse 1]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

By the forenoon (after sunrise); and by the night when it is still (or darkens); Your Lord (O Muhammad) has neither forsaken you nor hated you. And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world). And verily, your Lord will give you (all i.e. good) so that you shall be well-pleased. Did He not find you (O Muhammad) an orphan and gave you a refuge? And He found you unaware (of the Qur’an, its legal laws, and Prophet hood, etc.) and guided you? And He found you poor, and made you rich (self-sufficient with self-contentment, etc.)? Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression, and repulse not the beggar; and proclaim the Grace of your Lord (i.e. the Prophet -hood and all other Graces). [Surah Ad-Duhaa]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] Allaah (Glorified Be He and Free is He From all Imperfections] swore by two of His great creations – the Night and the Day- both of which are an indication of His Perfect and Absolute Lordship, Perfect Wisdom and Perfect Mercy. Allaah is the one (alone) Who dispels the night by way of the Daylight and likewise He is the one Who dispels the darkness of ignorance and Shirk by way of the revelation and Prophet-hood.

Likewise due to His Mercy, it necessitates that His slaves are not left in the darkness of night permanently, rather He guides them towards the beneficial affairs of the worldly life and their livelihoods by way of the Daylight, therefore it does not befit His (Majesty) that He leaves them in the darkness of ignorance and deviation; rather He guides them by way of the light of revelation and Prophet-hood in order that they may attain well-being in this life and the next. (3)

Allaah [The Most High] said: [وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِّمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا – And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude].

The night and the day differ- this one is white and that one is black. So one takes an admonition [from them], contemplates on the difference between them and thanks Allaah for them. (4) Whoever misses the remembrance of Allaah in the morning, then he (or she) can do so in the evening and vice versa. (5)

Al-Hasan Al-Basri [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The night and the day have not ceased to lessen the life spans and bringing close the appointed times of death”. (6)

Awn Bin Abdillaah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Indeed, the most beneficial days the believer has in the worldly life, is the one about which he thought he would not reach its end”. (7)

So, do they ponder upon the likes of what has preceded above as well as what is found in the following links?!

Some Verses of The Qur’aan Regarding Water: https://salaficentre.com/2021/08/01/reflection-on-some-verses-of-the-quraan-regarding-water/

Therefore, we should not be diverted from what is more important and preoccupy ourselves with this affair of global warming; rather we preoccupy ourselves with beneficial knowledge. Abu Moosaa [may Allaah be pleased with him] said that Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allaah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed the water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. Another portion of it was hard and held the water and Allaah benefited the people with it and they utilised it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. A portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation [so that land gave no benefits]. The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allaah’s religion and benefit [from the knowledge] which Allaah has revealed through me, learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allaah’s guidance revealed through me. [He is like that barren land]”. (8)

Imaam Muhammad Ibnu Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “In this similitude, the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allaah has sent me with, is like abundant rain falling on the earth’. The earth [upon which the rain fell] is of three types: The First Type of Earth: It is the earth that absorbed the water and produced abundant grass and vegetation, so the people were benefited through that. The Second Type of Earth is a Plain: It retained the water and the people benefited from it. They utilised it for drinking and as a source of irrigation [for their crops]. The Third Type of Earth: It absorbed the water but does not produce any benefit. This is the relationship between the people and the knowledge and guidance with which the Prophet was sent with.

The First Category of People: Amongst them is one who has understanding of Allaah’s Religion. He learns and teaches- benefits the people and himself. This is similar to the earth that produces grass and vegetation, so that the people and animals eat from it.

The Second Category of People: They are a people who have been entrusted with the guidance, but they do not possess Fiqh [like the first category of people]. They transmit knowledge and Hadeeth amongst themselves, but they do not possess Fiqh [like the first group]. The similitude of these people is that of the earth that retained the water and the people were provided with water. They used it for drinking, their animals drank from it and they used it as a source of irrigation; but the earth does not produce anything.

The Third Category: The one who is not benefited by the knowledge and guidance given to the Prophet. He turns away and does not incline towards it. He is neither benefited by that which the Prophet was sent with nor does he benefit others. His similitude is that of the earth that absorbed the water, but does not produce anything”. (9)

Finally, as for the debate between scientists regarding global warming, then indeed anyone who reads and researches will come across differing views- some stating that their views are based on facts and those who oppose them state that those views are based on theories. Some of those who hold the view that global warming is merely based on theories sometimes state that their opponents utilize nothing but propaganda as a manipulation tool to arouse emotions, and that is why anyone who opposes them is labelled a skeptic, denier, conspiracy theorist etc. The debate revolves around some of the following issues:

[1] Arguments- for and against – as to whether the IPCC discreetly dictate policies and utilize propaganda techniques that directs researchers and authors to maintain their desired narrative (i.e. that global warming is a fact)?

[2] Arguments -for and against- regarding whether the concept of global warming can be ascertained only through one view (i.e. that carbon dioxide from manmade activities is the reason behind the rise of earth’s temperature through something referred to as the greenhouse gas effect).

[3] Arguments – for and against – regarding melting ice caps that will lead to the flooding of coastal cities, famine and death.

[4] Arguments – for and against – regarding the normal temperature of the earth during different eras, and what influences these changes.

[5] Arguments – for and against – regarding whether the earth is entering a second “warming cycle” due to CO2 from burning of fossil fuels.

[6] Arguments – for and against – regarding “Greenhouse Effect”

[7] Arguments – for and against – regarding CO2 concentration as to whether it leads to increased acidification of the ocean

[8] Arguments – for and against – as to whether “Sea Level Changes” are influenced by CO2 and thus has an effect on global warming, and that the sea level has risen approximately 200 mm since 1880.

[9] Arguments – for and against – regarding whether the earth is in a stable period in relation to sea levels, and whether there is factual evidence to show that it would change drastically in future.

[10] Arguments -for and against – whether the ice melt is solely due to air and surface ocean temperature changes.

[11] Arguments – for and against – regarding whether the IPCC confined its research within the theory that climate change was the result of man’s activities and specifically carbon dioxide, and whether this approach is truly a scientific one or one influenced by government policies due to economic reasons.

Therefore, due to the speculation involved in this debate, we advised the passionate youth to approach the affair based on a principle mentioned by Imaam Abdul Azeez bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] who stated, “Indeed, that which is stated by the astronomers about the celestial bodies, their sizes and the distance between them, and that which is said about the earth (i.e. by the geologists etc) is categorized into three affairs: (a) That which is backed by the sound knowledge-based proofs [i.e. the Sharee’ah], therefore it is accepted. (b) That which the knowledge-based proofs [i.e. the sharee’ah] declares to be false, therefore it is rejected. (c) That which there is no proof to either accept or reject it, therefore it is unproven until a person from the people of knowledge [i.e. upright, honest and knowledgeable researchers of Ahlus Sunnah) examines it [i.e. examines what it indicates based on the Book and Sunnah, or whether it is false, propaganda, speculation etc] to show whether it should be accepted or rejected. As for accepting it without (sound) investigation and observation, but merely accepting it by blindly following them [i.e. the astronomers, geologists etc], then this is impermissible because of the numerous mistakes that occur as a result of that, and speaking -without knowledge – about Allaah and that which He has created [i.e. the entire universe and all that is within it]”. (10)

Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [may Allaah preserve him] stated, “One of the biggest causes of prosperity and poverty is climate – and it is Allah who creates and controls the climate: the wind, the rain, the heat and the seasons. It is Allah who sends down the rain, and it is He who withholds it from whomever He wills”. (11)

Therefore, we do not enter into this debate; rather we return to teachers of sound Aqeedah – [those who are reliable, honest, those who are known to us as independent researchers in the worldly sciences, neither harbour ulterior motives nor do they speak about Allaah without knowledge], such as the likes of Shaikh Abu Iyaadh Amjad Rafiq [may Allaah preserve him].

As for how hot or cold the earth it, then indeed those engaged in this debate should be reminded that the punishment in hell is of severe heat that cannot be compared to the heat in this temporary worldly life; therefore one asks for guidance and hastens to fulfil the purpose behind our existence in this worldly life. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded. [Surah At-Tahreem. Verse 6]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Certainly! You (disbelievers) and that which you are worshipping now besides Allah, are (but) fuel for Hell! (Surely), you will enter it. Had these (idols, etc.) been aliha (gods), they would not have entered there (Hell), and all of them will abide therein. Therein breathing out with deep sighs and roaring will be their portion, and therein they will hear not. [Surah Al-Anbiya. Verses 98-100]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Those who disbelieve will be addressed (at the time of entering into the Fire): “Allah’s aversion was greater towards you (in the worldly life when you used to reject the Faith) than your aversion towards one another (now in the Fire of Hell, as you are now enemies to one another), when you were called to the Faith but you used to refuse.” They will say: “Our Lord! You have made us to die twice (i.e. we were dead in the loins of our fathers and dead after our deaths in this world), and You have given us life twice (i.e. life when we were born and life when we are Resurrected)! Now we confess our sins, then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?” (It will be said): “This is because, when Allah Alone was invoked (in worship, etc.) you disbelieved, but when partners were joined to Him, you believed! So the judgement is only with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great!” [Surah Ghaafir. Verses 10-12]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, those who disbelieve, if they had all that is in the earth, and as much again therewith to ransom themselves thereby from the torment on the Day of Resurrection, it would never be accepted of them, and theirs would be a painful torment. They will long to get out of the Fire, but never will they get out therefrom, and theirs will be a lasting torment. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Verses 36-37]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened (suddenly like a prison at the arrival of the prisoners). And its keepers will say, “Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves, reciting to you the Verses of your Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours?” They will say: “Yes, but the Word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!” It will be said (to them): “Enter you the gates of Hell, to abide therein. And (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!” [Surah Az-Zumar. Verses 71-72]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord; then as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads. With it will melt or vanish away what is within their bellies, as well as (their) skins. And for them are hooked rods of iron (to punish them). Every time they seek to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be driven back therein, and (it will be) said to them: “Taste the torment of burning!” [Surah Al-Hajj. Verses 19-22]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And say: “The truth is from your Lord.” Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). And if they ask for help (relief, water, etc.) they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible the drink, and an evil Murtafaqa (dwelling, resting place, etc.)! [Surah Al-Kahf. Verse 29]

Therefore, what has to be given paramount importance – at all times – is the purpose behind our existence in this world, and there is room for repentance before death – before the soul reaches the throat. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Say: “O (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins (of one who repents). Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped. And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Qur’an, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!” Lest a person should say: “Alas, my grief that I was undutiful to Allah (i.e. I have not done what Allah has ordered me to do), and I was indeed among those who mocked [at the truth! i.e. La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), the Qur’an, and Muhammad and at the faithful believers, etc.]” Or (lest) he should say: “If only Allah had guided me, I should indeed have been among the pious”. Or (lest) he should say when he sees the torment: “If only I had another chance (to return to the world) then I should indeed be among the good-doers”. Yes! Verily, there came to you My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and you denied them, and were proud and were among the disbelievers. And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allah (i.e. attributed to Him sons, partners, etc.) their faces will be black. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant ones? And Allah will deliver those who are the Muttaqun (pious) to their places of success (Paradise). Evil shall touch them not, nor shall they grieve. [Surah Az-Zumar. Verses 53-61]

Ibn Umar [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Verily, Allah accepts the repentance of his servants, as long as the soul has not reached the throat”. [Sunan At-Tirmidhee 3537]

Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] said that Alalah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “When three things appear, faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from his faith: the rising of the sun in its place of setting, the Dajjal, and the beast of the earth”. [Saheeh Muslim. Number 158]

We ask Allaah to preoccupy us and the youth with what is of greater importance in our lives Aameen.

Missed Last Ruku of Jumu’ah Prayer, Thinks He Has Caught Jumu’ah and Prayed Two Rak’ats After Imaam Finished: [Remind One Who Makes This Mistake]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question to Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahullaah]: If I enter the masjid whilst the Imam is praying the Jumu’ah prayer and sitting for the Tashahud, do I pray it as Jumu’ah prayer or Dhur?

Answer: If the late comer did not catch – from the Jumu’ah prayer- except Sujood or Tashahud, then indeed he prays Dhur and not Jumu’ah, because the prayer is caught by way of a Rak’ah due to the statement of Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], “Whoever catches a Rak’ah of the prayer has caught the prayer”. (1) And also the statement of the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], “Whoever catches a Rak’ah of Jumu’ah prayer or another prayer, then let him add other Rak’aat [i.e. the remaining Rak’ah or Rak’aat] to it and indeed his prayer is completed”. (2) So, it is known from these two hadeeths that the one who has not caught a Rak’ah from the Jumu’ah prayer, then he has missed Jumu’ah and it is obligated on him to pray Dhur. [Majmoo Fataawaa Wa Maqaalaat Ash-Shaykh Ibn Baaz 12/330]

When Is a Person Considered to Have Caught a Rak’ah?

The Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “When you come [to the Salaah] whilst the Imaam is in Ruku, then perform Ruku. If he is in Sujood, then perform Sujood and do not consider that you’ve caught the Rak’ah through Sujood if it was not done with Ruku”. (3)

Some Statements And Actions of The Sahaabah Regarding This Affair

Ibn Mas’ood [radiyallaahu anhu] said, “Whoever has not joined the Imaam whilst he [i.e. the Imaam] is in Ruku, he has not caught that rak’ah”. (4)

Ibn Abee Shaybah, At-Tahaawi, At-Tabaraanee and Al-Bayhaqqi [rahimahumullaah] reported from Zayd Ibn Wahb [rahimahullaah], who said, “I went out with Abdullah (Ibn Mas’ood) from his house to the Masjid, and when we reached the middle of the Masjid the imaam went into Ruku; so Abdullah performed Takbeer and went into Ruku and I performed Ruku with him; then we walked whilst in that state of Ruku until we reached the row and the people raised their heads from Ruku”. Zayd said, “When the Imaam finished the Salaah, I stood up and thought that I did not catch the Rak’ah, so Abdullaah grabbed my hand and made me sit down, and said, ‘Indeed, you caught (the rakah)’”. (5)

Zayd Bin Thaabit [radiyallaahu-anhu] used to say, “Whoever catches the Rak’ah before the Imaam raises his head (from ruku), then indeed he has caught the rak’ah”. (6)

Abubakr Bin Abdir Rahmaan Ibn Al-Haarith Bin Hishaam [rahimahullaah] said, “Abubakr As-Siddeeq and Zayd Bin Thaabit [radiyallaahu-anhumaa] entered the Masjid whilst the Imaam was in Ruku, so they made Ruku and then moved slowly whilst in Ruku until they reached the row”. (7)

Then Imaam Al-Albaanee [rahimahullaah] said, “This shows that the Rak’ah is caught by catching the Ruku”.

One Takbeer or Two When Catching The Ruku?

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahullaah] was asked, “If a person comes to the Salaah whilst the Imaam is in Ruku, does he perform the opening Takbeer [i.e. Takbeeratul Ihraam] and the Takbeer for Ruku, or does he just perform Takbeer [for Ruku] and perform Ruku?”

Answer: What is more appropriate and safe is that he performs two Takbeers- the first one for Takbeeratul Ihraam [i.e. the opening Takbeer of the prayer] which is a pillar of the prayer and must be performed whilst standing, and the second Takbeer before going into Ruku; but if he fears that he’ll miss the Rak’ah, then the Takbeeratul Ihraam suffices and this is the most correct view of the scholars in this affair, because they are two acts of worship performed at the same time; therefore the greater one suffices. World Reputation Rankings 2021! [Reflection of The Seekers of Permanent Bliss Whenever Temporary Worldly Sciences Are Given Priority]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

What is World Reputation Rankings? “World Reputation Rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics. It asks leaders in the worldly sciences to name no more than 15 universities that they believe are the best for research and teaching in their field”. Indeed, this is what some people give precedence over submission to the final revelation, because this temporary worldly life is exalted in their hearts – a trait of the people of Al-Jaahiliyyah. Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated in Masaa-ilil Jaahiliyyah: The worldly life was exalted in their hearts, as Allaah [The Exalted] said [that they said]: [ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf, Aayah 31]

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: One of the traits of the [people] of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance due to widespread shirk, kufr, injustice, sin etc] was that the worldly life was exalted in their hearts; so, they regarded the one who possessed [the things of the worldly life] to be honourable and the one who was not in possession of the [things of the worldly life] to be of lowly [status] and despised. And even in the affair of Risaalah [Messengership], which is Allaah’s [absolute choice to choose the one He decides to send as a Messenger], they saw that it should be given to the rich people and not the poor people. And they said, “Allaah found [none], except an orphan of Abu Taalib to send [as a Messenger]? They were referring to Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. [ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – And they say: “Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 31]. The two towns are Makkah and Madina; and that [great man] in Makkah is Waleed Bin Mugheerah or Habeeb Bin Amr Ath-thaqafee; and it is said that the great man in Taa’if is Urwa Bin Mas’ood.

The people of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] said, “If the message was given to one of those two great men, it would have been befitting to be [regarded] a message, but it does not befit them to think that it is given to a poor orphan [i.e. Muhammad-sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. Allaah [The Exalted] said [in response to them]: [ أَهُمۡ يَقۡسِمُونَ رَحۡمَتَ رَبِّكَ‌ۚ – Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord] [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 32] – Meaning: They interfered in Allaah’s [choice, decrees, decisions etc]. They wanted to portion out Allaah’s Mercy and did not testify to what Allaah portioned out [of His Mercy], even though [ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ حَيۡثُ يَجۡعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ – Allaah knows best with whom to place his message.] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 24] [An Excerpt from ‘Sharh Masaa-ilil Jaahiliyyah.Pages 261-262. Slightly paraphrased]

The Greatest Bounty That Deserves The Greatest Rejoicing

Allaah [The Most High] said: [قُلۡ بِفَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَٲلِكَ فَلۡيَفۡرَحُواْ هُوَ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّمَّا يَجۡمَعُونَ – Say: “In the Bounty of Allah, and in His Mercy; -therein let them rejoice.” That is better than what (the wealth) they amass]. [Surah Yonus: Ayah 58]

[قُلۡ بِفَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ -Say: In the Bounty of Allaah]- Meaning: the Qur’aan, which is the greatest blessing and favour, and a conferment by way of which Allaah preferred His [believing] slaves [over others]; [وَبِرَحۡمَتِهِ -And in His Mercy]-Meaning: The Religion [of Islaam], Eemaan, worship of Allaah, love of Him, and knowledge and awareness of Him; [فَلۡيَفۡرَحُواْ- Therein let them rejoice]; [هُوَ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّمَّا يَجۡمَعُونَ – That is better than what they amass] of the enjoyable things of the worldly life and its pleasures.

The religion- the bounty that will bring about happiness in this life and the next- cannot be compared to all that is in this worldly life, [because these things of the worldly life] will vanish and come to an end very soon. Rather Allaah [The Most High] commanded [us] to rejoice in His Bounty and Mercy because it is that which will make the soul happy, thankful to Allaah, gives it a strong desire for an increase in knowledge and Eemaan. This is a praiseworthy rejoicing as opposed to rejoicing in the desires of this worldly life and its pleasures, or rejoicing in falsehood, for indeed that is blameworthy, as Allaah [The Most High] stated about a group amongst the people of Qaaroon that they said to him: [لَا تَفۡرَحۡ‌ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡفَرِحِينَ- Do not be glad (with ungratefulness to Allah’s Favours). Verily! Allah likes not those who are glad (with ungratefulness to Allah’s Favours)]. [Surah Al-Qasas: Ayah 76]

And as Allaah [The Most High] said about those who rejoiced in what they possessed of falsehood in opposition to that which the Messengers came with:

[فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ -Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things)] [Soorah Ghaafir: Ayah 83] [An Excerpt from ‘Tayseer Al-kareem Ar-Rahmaan Fee Tafseer Kalaam Al-Mannaan). slightly paraphrased]

Revival of The Ummah is Only Through The Path of The Salafus Saaleh- [Pious Predecessors]

Imaam Maalik [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The latter part of this Ummah [i.e. those who will come after the Salaf] will not be rectified except by way of that which rectified it’s earlier part [i.e. the Salaf].’’ And he [rahimahullaah) said: ‘’Whoever innovates a bidah in Islaam and considers it to be something good, then indeed he has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the Risaalah (i.e. the message he was entrusted with); because Allaah said: [ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ – This day, I have perfected your religion for you]. Therefore, what was not part of the religion at that time [i.e. during the time of the Messenger] cannot be part of the religion today (i.e. after his departure from this world)”. [Al-Itisaam of Imaam Shaatibee 1/28]

Imaam Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Indeed, it is impossible to rectify the souls and acquire virtue solely through the worldly sciences. Experience and clearly witnessed circumstances are the greatest proofs regarding this affair, because despite its advancement and vastness it has been unable to nurture and rectify the souls [i.e. upon excellent traits, manners, dealings, characteristics, sound creed etc] which are the determinants of [sound] rectification and success. What the Religion of Islaam propagates is that which is entrusted with this rectification; it is what will guide the thoughts towards the truthful and authentic sources of knowledge, guide the actions of the people towards good and prevent them from evil. Islam is The Rectifier of the Creeds and Manners- the thing that cultivates the thoughts [upon righteousness], urges towards virtuousness and prevents from depravity.

The essence of that which the religion calls to – regarding belief in the Unseen, which includes belief in Allaah and that which He possesses of Names, Attributes and Actions of perfection; belief in Angels, belief in recompense for one’s good and bad deeds in this life and the next, which cannot be known except through the Messengers, is what acquaints a person with the fact that rectification – in reality – is not possible through other than sound belief and the religion of Islaam.

Therefore, even if the worldly sciences rectify [some] affairs based upon that which [some] people know in detail, it will still not be equal [in perfection, excellence etc] to the knowledge of the Messengers [in the least]. It will neither reach that which is reached through the knowledge of the Messengers nor can it influence the souls in the manner in which the knowledge of the Messengers has done; for indeed the souls do not voluntarily submit except through belief in Allaah, belief in His Angels, belief in His Books, belief in His Messengers and belief in the hereafter. And without this, voluntary submission is impossible, as is well known regarding human nature. [Al-Adillah Al-Qawaati Wal-Baraaheen Fee Ibtaalil Usoolil Mulhideen 49-50]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Industrialization And Modern Inventions: Everyone has participated in it – the righteous, the wicked, the believer and the disbeliever. As for religion and [virtuous] manners, then indeed -in this era-, it has greatly declined. So, when this industrial advancement is devoid of Deen and Eemaan, it became a great harm from two angles: Firstly: It beguiled many people, who – due of their ignorance – think that worldly advancement is proof to show that its people are more worthy of achieving every good than others. They are clearly misguided, for indeed a person might be from the most skillful in affairs related to the material world, whilst he is one of the most ignorant people in affairs related to the deen, virtuous manners and the [other] beneficial affairs in this life and the next. Secondly: When these inventions are devoid of Deen, its mercy and wisdom, it becomes a great disaster for humankind due to the wars that resulted from them, killing, destruction and other affairs related to it. Its regulators [or overseers] and scholars are unable to laydown – for humankind -a stable, just and good life, rather they have not ceased moving from one miserable state to another. This is inevitable and the continuous state of affairs shows that [to be the case]. Therefore all good is found in the sound religion and all evil is found in rejecting and willfully denying [Allaah, His Messengers, His Laws, Guidance, Commands, Prohibitions etc] [Al-Adilladul Qawaati Wal Baraaheen Fee Ibtaalil Usoolil Mulhideen. 45-46]

Imaam Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Allaah [The Most High] said:

Indeed, Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses (the Qur’an), and purifying them (from sins by their following him), and instructing them (in) the Book (the Qur’an) and Al-Hikmah [the wisdom and the Sunnah of the Prophet (i.e. his legal ways, statements, acts of worship, etc.)], while before that they had been in manifest error. [Surah Aal Imran. Verse 164]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

And remember Allah’s Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus, Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided. [Surah Aal Imran. Verse 103]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِينً۬ا‌ۚ – This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Verse 3]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حُكۡمً۬ا لِّقَوۡمٍ۬ يُوقِنُونَ – And who is better in judgement than Allah for a people who have firm Faith]. [Surah Aal Imran. Verse 50]

Whoever utilises sound intellect to examine what the Messengers brought [i.e. the revelation] – what they commanded and guided the people to, such as knowledge and Awareness of Allaah, the worship of Allaah alone, turning to Allaah in repentance and obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) and the command to fulfil all the rights [of the people] based on courteous good will, perfecting one’s actions [i.e. based on sincerity to Allaah alone] and treating others with kindness [by sincerely seeking to benefit them though one’s knowledge, wealth or position], and that which they [i.e. Messengers] forbade; then thereafter he examines what those who have deviated from the path of Allaah call to, he will know that good [and its outcomes], success, sound rectification of the hearts and deeds, [sound rectification of] the worldly affairs and [sound rectification of the religious affairs and their end results in the afterlife] are all in agreement with what the Messengers called to. On the other hand, he will know that the call of those who have deviated from the path of Allaah is designed to do away with good manners [traits, characteristics etc], whose end result is nothing but complete chaos and a state in which one goes along with lust [or evil desires of the soul] until the animals become more noble and beneficial than humans. This is no doubt their state of affairs – clearly manifested by what they are upon and what they proclaim with their tongues. Among the most amazing of affairs is that many contemporary writers and politicians seek to remedy the many social ills and try to do so do from many angles, however as for the problem of deviation from Allaah’s path- whose surge has carried away the majority of young people – they have not rushed to stop it by returning to sound Eemaan and certainty; rather they have been abandoned to wander blindly in their misguidance and wavering in beguilement, and thus the social ills they seek to remedy gives birth to other social ills- because if the path to remedying social ills is not based on Eemaan and sound Deen, they will increase and become worse. [An Excerpt from ‘Al-Adillatul Qawaatiq’ pages 40-41′. slightly paraphrased]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Everyone with a bit of (sound) intellect knows that the corruption of the world and its ruin occurs due to giving precedence to opinion over the divine revelation and (evil) desires over sound intellect. These two corrupt motives are not entrenched in a heart except that its destruction becomes inevitable nor in a nation except that its affairs are completely corrupted. [ I’laam Al-Muwaqqi’een 1/67-69]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khalee [may Allaah preserve him] said: We must know the value of this (Sharee’ah) knowledge in our possession, which many people deliberately ignore and seek to degrade its value. They do not consider this knowledge to be anything, and those who study the sciences of the Sharee’ah – in their view- are deficient and unadvanced (or unprogressive) because they do not possess knowledge of medicine and engineering. If medicine, engineering and chemistry are not placed below [and regulated by] the knowledge which the Prophets brought, they become nothing; [rather] they will only increase the people in corruption. The knowledge brought by the Prophets is [a means of] rectification for the people [in their religious and worldly affairs], a guide for them towards the right path and removes them from the darkness they are living in – the darkness of kufr and ignorance. As for the knowledge of the philosophers and the heretics, then what Allaah has stated [i.e. in Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83] truly applies to it.

[Allaah said]: [فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَہۡزِءُونَ -Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad [and proud] with that which they had of the knowledge [of worldly things]: And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them [i.e. the punishment]. [Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83]

It is the knowledge which the people boast about nowadays, whether it is medicine, engineering, astronomy, [modern] politics and economics. After the Prophets came to them – to remove them from the darkness of ignorance and enter them into the light of the knowledge [of divine revelation] and Eemaan- they became glad and boastful with the knowledge they possess, [just as Allaah has stated]:

[فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَہۡزِءُونَ -Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad [and proud] with that which they had of the knowledge [of worldly things]: And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them [i.e. the punishment]. [Surah Ghaafir’ Aayah 83]

[Likewise, Allaah informed us that] Qaaroon said: [إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عِندِىٓ‌ۚ – This [i.e. vast wealth] has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess. [Surah Al-Qasas’ Aayah 78]

They [i.e. the people] rebuke him [i.e. Qaaroon] because he did not want to spend from his wealth based on what Allaah has commanded and Allaah’s revelation, so Allaah said that he said: [إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عِندِىٓ‌ۚ – This [i.e. vast wealth] has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess. [Surah Al-Qasas’ Aayah 78]

Likewise, Allaah said: [وَإِذَآ أَنۡعَمۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ أَعۡرَضَ وَنَـَٔا بِجَانِبِهِ – And when We bestow Our Grace on man (the disbeliever), he turns away and becomes arrogant, far away from the Right Path. [Surah Al-Israa’ Aayah 83]

[Allaah said]: [ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلۡنَـٰهُ نِعۡمَةً۬ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭ‌ۚ بَلۡ هِىَ فِتۡنَةٌ۬ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ – Then when We have (rescued him from that harm and) changed it into a favour from Us, he says: “Only because of knowledge (that I possess) I obtained it.” Nay, it is only a trial, but most of them know not! [Surah Az-Zumar’ Aayah 49]

Allaah said that he [i.e. the ungrateful human being says after being rescued from hardship]:

[قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭ‌ۚ – he says: “Only because of knowledge (that I possess) I obtained it]; but Allaah said: [ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ – Nay, it is only a trial, but most of them know not!]

These sciences become a trial and tribulation if they are not placed below [and regulated by] the knowledge which Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] brought. [Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ pages99-100. slightly paraphrased]

Comprehensive Guidance of The Messenger – By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: Muhammad’s [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] Ummah is not in need of anyone after him; rather the only need they have is someone to convey what he came with. Muhammad’s [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] message is comprehensive, universal and preserved. This universality, comprehensiveness and preservation is not limited to [any time and place], rather it is comprehensive for those to whom Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] was sent [i.e. the whole world] and likewise with regards to everything that is needed in the fundamental and subsidiary issues of the religion.

Muhammad’s [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] message is sufficient, all embracing and universal- nothing else is needed besides it. It has not isolated any affair of truth needed by his Ummah in their sciences and deeds. The Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] did not leave this world until he acquainted his Ummah with everything. He even taught them the etiquettes of using the toilet; the etiquettes of sexual relations; the etiquettes of sleep and after waking up; the etiquettes of eating, drinking and travel.

He acquainted them with the etiquettes of speech and silence; the etiquettes of keeping company with the people and seclusion. He acquainted them with the affairs of illness, good health, poverty and wealth. He acquainted them with all the affairs of life and death. He described Allaah’s throne, the angels, the jinn, the hell fire and the day of judgement in such a manner as if one has seen them with the naked eye. He [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] informed them about their Lord and His Perfect Names and Attributes, and that Allaah alone is their true object of worship.

He acquainted them with the Prophets of old and their nations – the events that took place between them and their nations – in such a manner as if one was present at that time. He acquainted them with all the means to good and the paths of evil- in general and in detail- which no other prophet informed his nation. He acquainted them with death and what will take place in the grave – either bliss or punishment. He acquainted them with the evidences and proofs of Tawheed [i.e. the oneness of Allaah in His Lordship, Names and Attributes, and that Allaah alone has the right to be worshipped].

He acquainted them with Prophet hood and the affairs of the Afterlife, and he refuted all the sects of disbelief and misguidance. He acquainted them with war strategies- how to confront the enemy, the way to achieve victory and conquests. If only they knew and understood these affairs in the correct manner [i.e. the manner it should be understood], they would not be overcome by their enemy. He acquainted them with the plots of Iblees and the ways through which he approaches them, and the ways to repel those plots and plans. He acquainted them with the soul- its characteristics and faults- in such a manner that they are not in need of anyone else to tell them about it. He taught them how to live their daily lives and had they acknowledged and acted upon this; their worldly affairs would be firmly established. He brought them all the means of success in this life and the next, and they do not need anyone besides him. So how can it be said that the path of Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] is in need of something else outside of it. The reason for such a claim is due to the weak and little understanding of a person. Allaah [The Most High] said:

أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe. [29:51]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ

And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allah as Muslims). [16:89]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِّمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord [i.e. the Qur’an, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil], and a healing for that [disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences, etc.] in your breasts, – a guidance and a mercy [explaining lawful and unlawful things, etc.] for the believers. [10:57] [An Excerpt from I’laam Al-Muwaqqi’een 4/375-377- slightly paraphrased]

Balanced Approach When Engaged In The Beneficial Worldly Sciences

Saudi King Abdul Azeez [rahimahullaah] said: Indeed, the progress and advancement of the Muslims is among those affairs we [pursue]–we call to it by the will of Allaah. [However] there cannot be advancement for the Muslims without a return to their religion, adherence to their sound creed and holding onto the Rope of Allaah [i.e. the Qur’aan and the Sunnah]. The path towards this is clear and facilitated for the one who wants to follow it, and that is to single out Allaah in worship – to be free from shirk and bidah- and act on that which the religion has commanded us, for indeed there is no benefit in speech if not [accompanied] by action. [Haqeeqah Manhaj Al-Mamlakah Al-Arabiyyah As-Su’oodiyyah page 33]

Al-Allaamah Abdullah Bin Humaid [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: We say that children are the most important part of the family, so they must be taught what benefits them and are distanced from evil companions. Teaching them necessitates that which the Book and the Sunnah necessitates in their religious affairs, so that they are nurtured upon a sound, beneficial and good nurturing. And we do not say that it is prohibited to study the beneficial worldly sciences because the religion of Islaam does not prohibit it, such as the knowledge of medicine, economics, business and its likes. However, these affairs come after rectification of the creed and after being [acquainted with] the knowledge of Tawheed. This is what is specified as an obligation.

You say, ‘’Indeed, my child graduated from such and such university and he has a master’s degree or what they call a PHD, and he studied in America or in London or in such university; and you think that with these [qualifications] he has become a mountain amongst the mountains of the earth’’; but as long as he is unaware of the rights of his Lord, unaware of your rights and the affairs of his religion, then by Allaah he is a mirage and there is neither goodness in him nor in his knowledge [of the worldly sciences]. To be ignorant [of these worldly science] would be better for him because they led him to reject his religion, country and society. The situation of [this person who abandoned his religion] is that of evil and his manners have been corrupted. Therefore, it is obligatory that you do not become lackadaisical concerning the affairs of your children as long as they are young. Teach them what is beneficial and nurture them upon good. [An Excerpt from ‘Al-Fataawaa Wad-Duroos Fil Masjid Al-Haraam. pages: 938-944]

We ask Allaah to grant us sound moderation in all affairs Aaamen.

“The Best Education You Can Give Your Children is to Know Yourself” – [Sound Reality Behind This Statement of Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh and His Ilk Amongst Believers In The Kufr of Reincarnation]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

“The Best Education You Can Give Your Children is to Know Yourself” –

[Sound Reality Behind This Statement of Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh and His Ilk Amongst Believers In The Kufr (Disbelief) of Reincarnation) as a Warning to Muslim RE and PSHE Teachers, SMSC Coordinators, Head teachers, School Governors, Trustees etc]

Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh’s said to one of his admirers or clients, “The best education you can give your children is to know yourself”.

Response and Clarification: Indeed, any well informed RE Muslim teacher knows that there is no distinction between truth and falsehood in the national curriculum; rather the teacher is told to present all religious beliefs without making a distinction between the sound and unadulterated creed of the Messengers and the disbelief of the philosophers, false prophets and proponents of religious innovations. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَنَّهُ ۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۟ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ

And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad) but We inspired him (saying): “Laa ilaaha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allah)], so worship Me (Alone and none else).” [Surah al-Anbiyaa. Verse 25]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).” Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). [Surah An-Nahl. Verse 36]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. Allah is the Wali (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. But as for those who disbelieve, their Auliya (supporters and helpers) are Taghut [false deities and false leaders, etc.], they bring them out from light into darkness. Those are the dwellers of the Fire, and they will abide therein forever. [Surah al-Baqarah. Verses 256-257]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ هُوَ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡعَلِىُّ ٱلۡڪَبِيرُ

That is because Allah He is the Truth (the only True God of all that exists, Who has no partners or rivals with Him), and what they (the polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is Batil (falsehood) And verily, Allah He is the Most High, the Most Great. [Surah Al-Hajj. Verse 62]

Therefore, it is very important that the Muslim who is given this responsibility to teach RE must be ready to make this distinction or refrains from entering into the subject matter if he or she is not able to make this distinction lest one corrupts the Aqeedah of Muslim children. The above statement of Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh that “The best education you can give your children is to know yourself” is a statement of truth, but one of the paths by way of which his Buddhist principles of (Kufr – disbelief) are propagated. He does not intend by way of it Tawheed (the pure monotheism conveyed by Prophets Nooh, Ibraaheem, Musa, Isa and their leader Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them], rather he intends by way of it his Buddhist philosophy. Indeed, there is no path to truly knowing oneself except through the path revealed by Allaah to the seal of the Prophets Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]. Question: “So, how can one know himself or herself?” Answer: Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “The Creation [i.e. Humans and Jinns] find themselves within two types of neediness: The first type of neediness is inevitable– a type of neediness that applies to everyone, the righteous and the wicked. It neither necessitates praise nor dispraise, neither reward nor punishment; rather it is solely due to the fact that the creation are created beings [i.e. absolutely in need and completely dependent on their Creator in every way]. The second type of neediness is one based on choice from which emanates two noble aspects of knowledge. The first one is the servant’s knowledge and awareness of his Lord and the second is knowledge and awareness of oneself in reality. As soon as one acquires these two types of knowledge, it brings about a type of neediness that becomes a person’s distinguished and most precious source of wealth, the means to success and happiness in (this life and the next). The people’s different stations in this type of neediness depends on their different stations in these two affairs of knowledge. Whoever knows that his Lord is the only One Who is Self-Sufficient (absolutely free from all wants and to Whom everyone and everything depends, and cannot do without in the twinkling of an eye), then he will know that he is completely in need. Whoever knows that his Lord alone is the Possessor of Perfect Ability (possessor of All-encompassing Ability and able to do all things), he will know that he is completely unable (cannot do anything in the twinkling of an eye without the help of) his Lord. Whoever knows that his Lord is The All-Mighty, he will know that he is one completely in a state of (complete poverty, weakness and want unless his Lord provides for him etc). Whoever knows that his Lord is the possessor of All- Encompassing knowledge and Wisdom, he will know that he is ignorant. Allah brought the servant out of his mother’s womb whilst he knew nothing, not able to do anything and owned nothing; neither able to give nor take; neither able to harm nor benefit. This state of neediness until he reached a more perfect state is something witnessed and tangible for everyone (to see), and i is well known that this is the very essence of the human being and he remains upon that state. He does not move from this state and enters into a state of Lordship – a state in which he becomes absolutely self-sufficient and not need of anyone and anything; rather he does not cease being a slave, a needy one to his Rabb [Allaah the Creator, All-Provider and the Only One Who Controls and Sustains Everything] and His Faatir [Allaah, The Originator and Creator of Everything]. However, after the human being was granted blessings, shown mercy, granted the means to reach a more perfect state, and Allaah -out of His Perfect Kindness and Generosity- granted him apparent blessings [i.e. to recognize the Messengers who were sent with Islamic Monotheism, granted him the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.] and the hidden blessings [i.e. granted him the innate disposition to recognize his Lord when the Messenger calls him to Eemaan, and granted him knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.], granted him hearing, sight and a heart, and taught him [i.e. gave him the means to knowledge], granted him ability, subjugated things to him, granted him [the desire and enthusiasm to pursue what is beneficial, and take action], enabled him to receive the service of those of his kind [i.e. gave him authority over other humans], subjugated to him horses and camels, gave him the ability to capture the animals in the sea, drop birds from the sky, subjugate wild animals, dig wells [irrigate water etc], plant trees, dig the earth, learn how to build, acquire the things that are of benefit to him, guard against and protect himself from that which is harmful to him; then the Miskeen [i.e. this absolutely poor, dependent human being] thinks that he has a share of authority and claims – for himself – a kingship [or authority] similar to that of Allaah [Glorified be Allaah and free is Allaah from all imperfections, partners, coequals, similarities etc], and begins to see himself in a manner other than what he was at first, forgets his [prior] state of non-existence, poverty and neediness, until he becomes as if he was not that poor and needy thing”. Allah knows But You Do Not Know

Alaah [The Most High] said:

وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكۡرَهُواْ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا وَهُوَ خَيۡرٌ۬ لَّڪُمۡ‌ۖ وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تُحِبُّواْ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ۬ لَّكُمۡ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ

And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” [AI-Baqarah. Verse 216]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: There is for the servant -in this verse – a number of insightful guidelines, underlying benefits and welfare, because indeed if he knows that Al-Makrooh (what is hated) can bring forth Al-Mahboob (i.e. what is beloved), and vice versa, then neither would he feel safe from the harm that might occur from something that makes him happy nor would he lose hope whilst expecting a final source of happiness from a situation of harm. That is because he does not have (infinite or perfect) knowledge of the Awaaqib (i.e. the final outcomes), but Allaah knows that which he does not know. There is nothing more beneficial for him than fulfilling Allaah’s commands, even if it is difficult for him in the beginning and his soul dislikes it, because all its end result will be good – a means to happiness, pleasure and joy. Likewise, there is nothing more harmful for him than doing what he has been forbidden, even if his soul desires and inclines towards it, because indeed all its end result will lead to pain, grief, evil and calamities. A distinguishing characteristic of (sound) intellect is that it prefers to bear little pain whose end results will lead to great enjoyment and abundant good, and it avoids that little enjoyment whose end results will lead to great pain and prolonged evil. The observations of an ignorant person does not permit him to (pay attention to the true or real) goals behind events that occur from the very beginning of an affair, but as for the sensible person, he always looks at the (true or real) goals behind those events. He looks at the praiseworthy and unpraiseworthy goals that are not obvious (to the ignorant one). He sees what is forbidden as tasty food that is mixed with deadly poison, therefore, whenever he is urged towards eating that food due to its tastiness, he is turned away due to the poison in it. As for the commandments, he sees them as bitter medication that will lead to physical well-being and cure; therefore, whenever he is turned away from the medication due to its bitterness, he is then urged towards it due to its benefits. However, this requires the blessing of knowledge by way of which a person can perceive the (praiseworthy and unpraiseworthy goals) behind those events that occur from the very beginning of an affair, as well as firm patience that would enable him to bear the difficulties upon the path towards achieving the expected goals. If he does not have certainty and patience, it would be difficult for him to achieve that; but if he has firm certainty and patience, he would be facilitated with ease whilst bearing every difficulty in his pursuit of everlasting good and enjoyment. (2)

The servant should hand over his affair to the One (Allaah) who knows – (perfectly without anything hidden from Him)- the end result of affairs. He should be pleased with what Allaah chooses and decrees for him because of the good end result he hopes for. Neither should he make suggestions to his Lord nor put forward his choice over that of his Lord, nor does he ask for something about which he has no knowledge, because it maybe that what will bring about harm and destruction on him is found in what he asks, whilst he does not know. Therefore, he does not choose anything over what his Lord chooses; rather he asks his Lord to choose the best for him and make him pleased with what has been chosen for him, because there is nothing more beneficial for him than this. When he hands over his affair to his Lord and is pleased with what has been chosen for him, his Lord facilitates him with strength, determination and patience in that which has been chosen for him; repel the afflictions he would have encountered due to the choice he makes and show him some of the good end results of the choice his Lord made for him, which could not have been attained through the choice he makes for himself. He is relieved of the difficult reasoning about all types of choices and his heart is emptied of projections through which he ascends one obstacle and descends into another. And alongside this, he cannot escape what is decreed for him. If he is pleased with Allaah’s choice, then what has been decreed will come to him, whilst he is deserving of commendation and graceful in it; otherwise, what has been decreed will come to him while he is blameworthy and ungraceful, because he left with the choice he made for himself. (3)

If Allaah wants good and guidance for His servant, He makes him witness the fact that the blessing he has is one of His blessings and enables him to be grateful for it. (a) If his soul whispers to him to move away from it, he seeks guidance from His Lord – by way of Istikhaarah (b) – as one who is ignorant of his welfare and unable to attain it, and then delegates the affair to Allaah by asking Him to make a good choice for him. (4)

[a] Gratefulness: Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

In order that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: “Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts). And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Verses 13-14]

Mentioned in the verses are the three pillars of gratitude, and they are: acknowledge Allaah’s blessings, proclaim Allaah’s Blessings, speak about them; praise Allah for it, and (c) submit to Allah and utilise these blessings to carry out acts of worship for the sake of Allaah (alone). This is because the intent behind the statement: [verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return] is acknowledgement of recompense and to make preparations for it. The objective behind these favours is that they are an aid by way of which the slave seeks to fulfil the commands of Allaah. And regarding the statement: [And then may remember the favour of your Lord when you mount thereon]; this is a specific mention of the favour in that instance (i.e. at the time in which the person enjoys those favours), because blessings intoxicates many amongst the creation, makes them heedless, evil and ungrateful. Therefore, this state in which Allah commanded (a person to remember Him for His Favours) is a medication for this destructive ailment. When the servant of Allaah recalls that he is completely surrounded by the blessings of Allah and that nothing is from him;, but rather blessings are (from Allah) -its means are facilitated and its obtainment made easy (by Allaah), he submits to Allah, humbles him, thanks and Praises Allaah. And by way of this, he is given continuous blessings. [An Excerpt from Fataawa Sa’diyyah page: 61. slightly paraphrased]

[b]: What is Al-Istikhaarah? It is widespread amongst some people that Istikhaarah and seeking the best outcome in an affair is that one goes to the astrologers and soothsayers. This is in opposition to what is found in the Islamic legislation; rather Istikhaarah and seeking the best outcome in an affair is that one performs two optional Rak’ats and then supplicate with the legislated supplication. Jaabir Bin Abdillaah [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, ”Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] used to teach us the way of doing Istikhaarah (i.e. the means to ask Allah to guide one to the right action concerning any job or a deed) in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Qur’an. He said, ‘If anyone of you wants to do any task [i.e. wants to decide on a matter], he should offer a two rak`ats other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):

O Allaah! I seek the counsel through Your Knowledge, and I seek Power from Your Might, and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not and You (alone) know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this task (or affair) is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter- (or said, ‘If it is better for my present and later needs), then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, and then bless me in it. And if You know that this task (affair) is harmful to me in my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter-(or said, ‘If it is worse for my present and later needs’), then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, and make me satisfied with it’. The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] added that then the person should mention his (or her) need [i.e. the affair or task]. [Bukhaari: 1162] [Al-Haqeeqatush Shar’iyyah Fee Tafseeril Qur’aanil Adheem Was-Sunnatin Nabawiyyah. Page 95]

After Istikhaarah, one also seeks the advice of upright people who are capable of giving advice in the affair. Al-Hasan al-Basree [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “By Allaah! Never have a people sought advice except that they were guided to the best of what was available to them”. Then he recited [the statement of Allaah]: [ And (the Believers) who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation]. [Surah AshShurah. Verse 38]

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] commanded His Messenger Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhiwasallam] to consult his companions in some affairs: [And consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah]. [Surah Aal Imran. Verse 159]

He [i.e. the Prophet] is the example to be followed by the Ummah, therefore when it is the case that Allaah commanded him to consult his companions, then there is even a greater reason that the Muslims are in need of consultation amongst themselves. When a difficulty that is related to a Muslim’s religious and worldly affairs occurs, then indeed it is fitting that he consults someone whom he considers reliable, wise, truthful and sincere. He examines [the advice] given by that person, then he makes a choice – either to take that advice or decides not to take it based on what he is satisfied with, in relation to his personal affairs. The hadeeth places emphasis on the fact that consultation guides to the best outcomes, and due to this it is said, “The one who consults (others) does not regret (thereafter InShaaAllaah) and the one who performs Istikhaarah will not fail (to achieve what is good for him or her)”. Both Istikhaarah and consultation are legislated and a lot of good is achieved by way of them, as opposed to when affairs are pursued in a rigid and haphazard manner, for indeed this might lead to regret and harm. [An Excerpt from ‘Awnul Ahadis Samad Sharh Al-Adab Al-Mufrad’ 1/285. slightly paraphrased]

The One Consulted Must Fear Allaah: Abu Hurairah [(radiyallaahu-anhu) who said that the Messenger (sallal-laahualayhi-wasallam) said: [ The consultee is in a position of trust]. [Saheeh Sunan Abee Dawud. Number 5128]

The consultee is in a position of trust]. He is the one whose opinion is sought after regarding an affair of Maslahah (i.e. an affair that will bring about benefit and repel harm). He is in a position of trust with regards to what he is asked and it is not permissible for him to deceive the one who consults him, by concealing the affair that would bring about benefit. [Mirqaat Al-Mafaateeh Sharh Mishkaat Al-Masaabeeh. Vol 4. Hadeeth 5062. page 259]

This hadeeth is an evidence, showing that the consultee has to (advise) with the course of action and opinion -in relation to the consultation – that which he would do for himself. And it is not permissible that he directs his Muslim brother to something he would not be pleased with for himself. [Awnul Ahadis Samadi, Sharhu Al-Adab AlMufrad. Vol 1. Hadeeth Number 256. page 283]

Acknowledgment That Allaah Conceals The Numerous Faults of a Person, So Humility Should Be an Abiding Characteristic When Dealing With Others

Imaam Al-Qahtaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

And You (Allaah) have placed love for me within the hearts….And the affection from You is through mercy and kindness….And You have spread – amongst the people – good about me… And conceal my acts of disobedience from their eyes…And you have made my good mention amongst the people common (or widespread)…until you made them all my brothers….By Allaah, if they knew the repugnance of my secret affairs (or inner self)….The one who meets me would have refused to give me Salaams…And they would have turned away from me and loath my companionship…And I would have brought disgrace upon myself after being honored…But you conceal my faults and deficiencies…And you dealt with my sins and transgression with forbearance (i.e. gave me an opportunity to repent)…So all praise and commendations- by way of my thoughts, limbs and tongue- is Yours…. [Refer to first lines of Al-Qahtaanee’s Nooniyyah]

Question to Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] about the statement: “May Allaah have mercy upon a person who knows his limitations”, does this statement have an (established) source and has it been transmitted in a hadeeth?

Answer: I do not know of an (established) source for it; however its meaning is correct. (That is) because when a person knows his (limitations and worth), he will be humble in the presence of his Lord. He will worship Allaah and will know that he is not free from being in need of Allaah in the twinkling of an eye. If he knows himself, he will know his status amongst the people and this knowledge will (prevent) him from being haughty towards them- because haughtiness is from the major sins and looking down on the people is from the forbidden affairs. That is why when the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) warned against haughtiness (or pride), they (i.e. the people) said: “Everyone of us loves that his clothes and shoes are nice;’’ so he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Indeed, Allaah is beautiful and He loves beauty; haughtiness (or pride) is to reject the truth and look down on the people.” So when a person knows his (limitations and worth), he will know his rank amongst the people. He will place himself in his (rightful) place; humble himself in the presence of his lord and in the presence of Allaah’s creation. And whoever humbles himself to Allaah, Allaah will raise him. (5)

There’s No Return to This World After Death –

A Brief Rebuttal Against The Kufr of Reincarnation and Ar-Raj’ah

Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] narrated that Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Between the two blowings of the trumpet (there would be an interval of forty)”. They said, “Abu Hurairah, do you mean forty days?” He said, ” I cannot say anything”. They said, “Do you mean forty months?” He said, “I cannot say anything”. They said, “Do you mean forty years?” He said, “I cannot say anything”. Then Allah would cause the water to descend from the sky and they (people) will sprout like vegetable. The only thing in a man which would not decay would be one bone (the tailbone) from which the whole frame would be reconstituted on the Day of Resurrection”. Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] narrated that Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The earth would consume all of the son of Adam (i.e. after death) except his tailbone”. (6)

So, there a return to this earth or life of this world after death – neither in the form of any animal nor in the image of a human or Jinn; rather everyone confirmed dead is waiting for the resurrection and the judgment on the day of Judgement. The above hadeeth is enough as a rebuttal against the proponents of the Kufr (creed of disbelief) of the proponents of reincarnation as well as a rebuttal against some factions amongst the Raafidah Shiites who believe in Ar-Raj’ah. Imaam Barbahaaree (may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated, “The return to this world of those who have died (Ar-Raj’ah) is an innovation and is disbelief in Allaah, the Sublime. Whoever professes to believe it, is a disbeliever in Allaah and in this there is no doubt. Whoever believes in ar-raj-ah and says that Ali Ibn Abee Taalib is alive and will return before the Day of resurrection and says the same concerning Muhammad Ibn Ali, Ja’far Ibn Muhammad and Moosaa Ibn Ja’far and talks about the station of the Imaams and that they know the unseen, beware of them! They are disbelievers in Allaah, the Sublime”.

Al-Allaamah Saaleh al Fawzaan commented on the above statement saying: And concerning the statement of Imaam Barbahaaree: “Whoever believes in Ar-raj’ah”- This is with regards to the Shee’ah, for they say that the dead Imaams from ahlul bayt will return at the end of time, and that they will speak with justice, and that they will bring out Umar, Aboo Bakr and the sahaabah from their graves and burn them.

And concerning the statement of Imaam Barbahaaree: “Whoever professes to believe it, is a disbeliever in Allaah and in this there is no doubt”: The one who speaks with the statement of Ar-raj’ah in this manner, then no doubt he is a disbeliever in Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]. And concerning the statement of Imaam Barbahaaree: “And says that Ali Ibn Abee Taalib is alive”: The extremists amongst the (raafidah shiites) say that Ali did not die and that he is in the clouds, and they worship him. (7)

Disbelievers In The Hereafter Are Losers

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Say (O Muhammad ): “Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds? “Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds! “They are those who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and the Meeting with Him (in the Hereafter). So their works are in vain, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall not give them any weight. “That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery. Is This Statement Tantamount to Antisemitism or is it Rejection of The Actions of Those Who Oppress With Total Impunity?!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Israel on Sunday published tenders for about 1,300 new settlement homes in the occupied West Bank and authorities are also expected to discuss proposals for another 3,000 homes.

The announcement from the Israeli Housing and Construction Ministry under right-wing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s government said tenders had been published for 1,355 homes in the West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War.

Those new homes add to the more than 2,000 residences that defense sources said in August would be authorized for West Bank settlers. Housing Minister Zeev Elkin, a member of the right-wing New Hope party, said in a statement that “strengthening Jewish presence (in the West Bank) was essential to the Zionist vision.”
A government planning committee is also expected in the coming week to discuss the proposals for about 3,000 new settlement units. https://www.dailysabah.com/world/mid-east/us-deeply-concerned-with-israeli-plan-on-more-settlements

Oppression Amongst Themselves In The Past: [The Oppressive Ones Amongst Them Oppressed Their Own People, Even After Being Forbidden From Such Acts]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And (remember) when We took your covenant (saying): Shed not the blood of your people, nor turn out your own people from their dwellings. Then, (this) you ratified and (to this) you bear witness. After this, it is you who kill one another and drive out a party of you from their homes, assist (their enemies) against them, in sin and transgression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their expulsion was forbidden to you. Then do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. Those are they who have bought the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter. Their torment shall not be lightened nor shall they be helped. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Verses 84-86]

In The Past: The Misguided Scholars and Leaders Amongst Them Concocted and Beautified Corrupt Beliefs  to Steal The Wealth of Arabs!

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Among the people of the Scripture is he who, if entrusted with a Cantar [a great amount of wealth, etc.], will readily pay it back; and among them there is he who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless you constantly stand demanding, because they say: ‘’There is no blame on us to betray and take the properties of the illiterates (Arabs).” But they tell a lie against Allah while they know it. [Surah Aal Imraan. Verse 75]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him]] said: They (i.e. the unjust ones amongst them) made corrupt claims and held repulsive views, and thus considered themselves to be possessors of great status and that the illiterate Arabs were extremely degraded; therefore, the rights of the illiterate Arabs could be violated. So, through these corrupt claims and repulsive views they ate haraam and considered it lawful by way of creed.

Likewise, they lied against Allaah because the scholar who declares things lawful or unlawful is considered- by the people- as one transmitting Allaah’s Judgement and not from himself; and that [ruling of theirs about the wealth of the illiterate Arabs] is a lie. Allaah said: [وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُون – But they tell a lie against Allah while they know it]. This is one of the greatest sins-speaking about Allaah without knowledge. Do The Oppressors Amongst The Jews Recall That They Were Once Victims of Brutal Oppression, So That They Treat Others Fairly and Abandon Pride?!

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, Fir’aun (Pharaoh) exalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening (oppressing) a group (i.e. Children of Israel) among them, killing their sons, and letting their females live. Verily, he was of the Mufsidoon]. [Surah Al-Qasas. Verse 4]

[وَجَعَلَ أَهۡلَهَا شِيَعً۬ا – and made its people sects]- Meaning: Different groups that were organized and distinguished, and he utilized each group in that which he desired in his kingdom. (2) He made them into sects and different groups to serve him and they went along with what he wanted and obeyed him. (3) He made them into different distinct groups, dealt with them based on his evil desires and subjugated them as he wanted by means of his power and authority. (4) He divided them into different sects and they went along with him in everything he desired of evil and corruption, or he used some as a means to get others to obey him; or he made them into different distinct groups under his service and used every group in some type of work, such as construction, tillage, earthwork [drilling etc] and other burdensome work, and whoever did not work was beaten, so they served him by doing so; or he made them into sects and incited hatred and enmity between them, so that they do not come to an agreement [or become united in their stance against him]. (5)

[ إِنَّهُ ۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ – Verily, he was of the Mufsidoon]- Meaning: Those whose intention is neither to rectify the religious nor worldly affairs, and this was from his corrupt behaviour in the earth; (6) committing unlawful killing and being disobedient to Allaah. (7)

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And (remember) when We delivered you from Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) people, who were afflicting you with a horrible torment, killing your sons and sparing your women, and therein was a mighty trial from your Lord. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Verse 49]

[وَإِذۡ نَجَّيۡنَـٰڪُم مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ – And (remember) when We delivered you from Fir’aun’s people]: Meaning, from Pharaoh, the chiefs of his kingdom and his troops; and prior to that [يَسُومُونَكُمۡ – they were afflicting you with a horrible torment]: Meaning, mistreated and exploited them [سُوٓءَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ – with a horrible torment]: Meaning, with the severest punishment; [يُذَبِّحُونَ أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ – killing your sons]: Meaning, out of fear that you will increase in number. [وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمۡ‌ۚ – and sparing your women]: Meaning, did not kill them and thus you found yourselves between being killed or humiliated through burdensome work, and allowed to live as if it was some favour given to you by the people who degraded you. This is the height of humiliation; but then Allah favoured them with complete safety and drowned their enemy while they watched and so that they might be pleased. [وَفِى ذَٲلِكُم – and therein]: Meaning, being saved, [بَلَآءٌ۬ – was a mighty trial], Meaning, a test; [مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ عَظِيمٌ۬ – from your Lord]. Therefore, this is one of those affairs that obligates on you to be thankful and fulfil His commands. (8)

This is the horrible and inhumane treatment the Children of Israel received from Fir’aun and likewise we know the inhumane treatment the Jews received from the Nazis; but we find – in this era – that some of them are the flag-bearers of oppression, injustice and callosity. Everyone witnesses the barbaric manner in which some of them treat the Palestinians. Some of them constantly steal land, distribute them to their people and displace Palestinians. They have been stealing land for nearly seven decades and any Palestinian who dares stand in their way either faces humiliation or physical harm. Even those who flatter them or turn a blind eye to their atrocities do not agree that they had the right to occupy East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and then annexed the entire city in 1980. This has not been accepted by anyone, but some of them give no concern to what others say due to arrogance and a desire to humiliate people. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

تِلۡكَ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلۡأَخِرَةُ نَجۡعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّ۬ا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فَسَادً۬ا‌ۚ وَٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ

That home of the Hereafter [i.e. Paradise], We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqoon [pious]. [Surah Al-Qasas’Aayah 83]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The home of the Hereafter is prepared for those who are humble for the sake of Allaah, and whoever humbles himself for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will raise him. (As for the haughty people), Allaah hates them and their destination is the fire – and Allaah’s Refuge is sought. Major Kufr and Bidah stops a person from the delight (found in the) truth and the guidance brought by the Prophets, and that which purifies the souls [i.e. makes the souls upright]”. [An Excerpt from Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm’ page 220]

If only they abandon arrogance and follow the path of Abdullah Bin Sallaam [may Allaah be pleased with him] who was from them, but accepted the truth and submitted to the path of the final Messenger, and he was a man of knowledge and humility. One day he walked in the marketplace whilst carrying a bundle of firewood, so it was said to him, “Has Allaah not given you enough wealth (to prevent you from) this?” He said, “Certainly; but I want to repel pride. I heard Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] saying, “The one with the weight of a grain of mustard seed of pride will not enter paradise”.

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “This hadeeth is clear proof regarding the fact that pride is forbidden and that is one of the major sins. And because of this, a person is forbidden to characterize himself with pride-mocking at the people and rejecting the truth. Indeed, the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] described pride in his statement, [saying]: “Pride is to reject the truth and belittle the people”- meaning: rejects the truth and does not accept it; mocks at the people and does not consider them to be nothing by looking down on them and raising himself above them- either due to his abundant wealth, high [social] status, lineage or due to other reasons. In this hadeeth, there is proof to show that a Muslim servant of Allaah- the sensible and smart one – guards himself, places himself in a situation that is pleasing to Allaah and disciplines himself with the Islamic manners. And when it is the case that the soul is weak and can be misguided, therefore Abdullah Bin Sallaam [may Allaah be pleased with him] desired to discipline his soul by carrying a bundle of firewood on his back or his head, even though he was able to hire someone else to carry it on his behalf; but he desired something that was very important and that was to repel pride from his soul, and place himself in a situation of humility, which Allaah loves to see from His slaves. (9)

The Oppressive Ones Amongst Them Have No Justification Except Fujoor Fil Khusoomah-

[Iniquity when disputing]

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Fujoor Fil Khusoomah (Iniquity when disputing) is of types: Reject what is obligatory upon you (to fulfil, give etc) and claim what one is not entitled to “. https://youtu.be/FGtZtOBbif4

Supplication Against The Oppressive Ones Amongst Them Is Allowed

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] stated: Brothers, the actions, disbelief and evil of the Yahood [i.e. those Jews who rebel against Allaah and His Prophets] is well known, even (with regards) to (their relationship) with their Prophets. They killed their Prophets, and (also) is that which happened to Kaleemullaah Moosaa [peace be upon him]- that which Allaah has related in the Qur’aan (regarding) the story of Moosaa and Haaroon [peace be upon them]. The character, disbelief, misguidance and evil of the Yahood [i.e. those amongst them who rebel against the command of Allaah and His Prophets] is well known, even towards their Prophets; but what is obligated on us (Muslims) is that we ponder and rectify our deviated affairs and repent to Allaah, because the Yahood have not gained the upper hand against us except due to our sins. Why is it that we do not hear anyone addressing and admonishing the Muslims, whilst saying to them, ‘What has happened to you is (nothing else), but as a result of you turning away from the religion of Allaah and negligence in the affairs of the religion; so repent to Allaah in order that Allaah may aid you and avert the plot of the plotters from you’. We do not hear except insult, abuse and supplication against the Yahood, but this should be substituted with supplicating to Allaah to rectify the Muslims and to make them steadfast, mention to the Muslims that they should repent and return to Allaah, and rectify their religious (adherence) for the sake of Allaah. This is the first obligation.

As for supplication against an oppressor-be it the Yahood or other than them, there is nothing wrong with this. It is legislated to supplicate against the one who oppress you with the Sharee’ah supplications- the supplications that are found in the Book (i.e. The Qur’aan) and the Sunnah. But before supplicating against them, you should supplicate to Allaah to rectify the Muslims and to make the Muslims steadfast upon their Religion and return them to the truth. Advise, address and admonish (them) regarding Allaah [i.e. obedience to Allaah]. This is what is obligatory. (10)

How Do We Treat Our Jewish Neighbours?

A Sheep was slaughtered for Abdullaah Ibn Umar [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father], so he said to his slave, “Have you given to our Jewish neighbour? Have you given to our Jewish neighbour? I heard the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] saying, ‘Jibreel did not cease advising me (about the rights of) a neighbour until I thought that he (a neighbour) would inherit from me’”. Beguilers Seeking to Cure The Incurable (Capitalism) – After Lockdowns – as Well as Failing to Rebut Its Main Unjust Foundation [Riba- Usury]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Beguilers Seeking to Cure The Incurable (Capitalism) – After Lockdowns – as Well as failing to Rebut Its Main Unjust Foundation [Riba- Usury]: [Brief Response to Some So called Muslim Intellectuals Who Make Evil Proposals to Muslim Rulers and Thus Expose Them to The Harm of The Wicked Takfeeris Extremists)]

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri [may Allaah be pleased with him] said, “The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Allaah never sends a Prophet or gives the Caliphate to a Caliph, except that he (the prophet or the Caliph) has two groups of advisors: A group advising him to do good and exhorts him to do it, and the other group advising him to do evil and exhorts him to do it. But the protected person (against such evil advisors) is the one protected by Allah”. (1)

Few Reminders From The Above Hadeeth

a: With regards to a prophet, there maybe those who seek to divert him from what is good, but it can never be the case that he will listen to them, because the Prophets are protected by Allaah and at the end of the hadeeth it is stated, “But the protected person (against such evil advisors) is the one protected by Allah”. Therefore, the presence of one who seeks to direct a prophet to evil does not necessitate that the prophet will accept what he says.

It is also said that the intent behind the two advisers (mentioned in this hadeeth with regards to their relationship) to a prophet are the angles and shaytaan, (as the Prophet said in a hadeeth), “There is no one among you but a companion from among the jinn has been assigned to him.” They said, “Even you, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, “Even me, but Allaah helped me with him and he became Muslim (or: and I am safe from him), so he only enjoins me to do that which is good.” (2)

In another narration, it is stated that the person is assigned a companion among the jinn and a companion among the angels. (3)

b: “But the protected person (against such evil advisors) is the one protected by Allah” – Meaning Allaah is the one who protects whoever He wishes. So, in reality you cannot find anyone who can protect himself except if Allaah protects him.

c: It is incumbent upon a ruler to have a person who unveils to him the circumstances of the people in private, and this person should be trustworthy, reliable, smart and sensible, because calamity befalls a reliable ruler due to accepting speech of one who is not trustworthy.

Also, the one who is given responsible over the affairs of the people may always accept the speech of good advisers and not that of evil advisers. This is what is suitable to attribute to a Prophet and it is established by the word [ عصمة – protection] at the end of the hadeeth.

It may be that a ruler accepts the speech of evil advisers, especially someone who is a disbeliever. So, he may accept the speech of these people at times (evil people) and the speech of those at other times (i.e. good people). (4)

Those Who Make Corrupt Suggestions to Muslim Rulers

Some so called writers and Muslim intellectuals say: The lockdowns and the economic hardships faced by both individuals and nation states warrants serious discussion regarding the global economic system. The existing form of Capitalism must be replaced with what they call Conscious Capitalism, which would be based on a society-first approach and justice that will eradicate the neo-liberal orthodox approach and the economic policies that do not give priority to society. This new idea – as they say – is adopted by economies of the Atlantic belt, where they experienced the first version of Capitalism between 1820 and 1929 and the second version between 1980 and 2008, and by the emerging economies stretching from Latin America to Africa and Asia. If Capitalism is to survive in the 21st century, then there is a need to prioritize inclusiveness and sustainability, because a capitalism that gives no concern to inequality of income distribution among the economic stakeholders that produce added value will now be the forerunner of a bigger disaster for national economies, and this why new emerging economies, especially in Africa are now looking for new partners and strategic collaborations based on the win-win principle. This is what they call “conscious Capitalism” and it helps the leading economies to be more compassionate etc.

Firstly, when the likes of these statements are uttered by so called Muslims intellectuals and then propagated amongst Muslim students in universities, colleges and other institutions, then one must be reminded of the fact that there is no solution to the problem of Riba, except to eradicate it completely. The basis of Capitalism is Riba and there can never be justice and fair play in the global economy when Riba is still rife. Read article by Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allaah preserve him]: https://www.abukhadeejah.com/the-grave-crime-of-usury-and-interest-riba-based-transactions-what-is-allowed-and-what-is-not/

Secondly, what is the ruling on Capitalism? Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] was asked: “What is the ruling of Islam regarding the application of socialist and capitalist methodologies in Islamic countries?”

Answer: Neither the application of socialism nor capitalism is permissible. It is obligatory to apply Allaah’s Sharee’ah. It is obligated on the kings and leaders to apply Allaah’s Sharee’ah. They should not make permissible what Allaah has forbidden of usury. They should not make make lawful that which Allaah has made unlawful with regards to the wealth of the Muslims because of socialism or communism; rather, it is obligated on all the leaders who ascribe to Islam to judge by Allaah’s Sharee’ah. [NB: Must read “Footnote a” about the ruling on judging by other than the Sharee’ah]

Neither should they acknowledge capitalism, nor socialism, communism, nor secularism. It is obligated on them to cautious of all these affairs, and they should adhere to Allaah’s Sharee’ah and to be steadfast upon it. Capital must be dealt with within the confines of the Sharee’ah. Capital has been mentioned and recognised by the Sharee’ah, but is to be dealt with within the confines of the Sharee’ah. It is not permissible to use capital in what Allaah has forbidden, such as usury, gambling and so on. Wealth belongs to its owners and they dispose of it in a manner legislated by Allaah. The application of socialism and communism is false. Taking and confiscating people’s wealth is falsehood and evil reprehensible that is in opposition to the Sharee’ah and sound reasoning; but the one who adheres to Allaah’s Sharee’ah must manage his wealth according to Allaah’s Sharee’ah, and not in the manner of Western capitalism – in usury, gambling and the like. None has the right to confiscate people’s wealth and to transgress against them because of his affiliation with communism or socialism. [NB: Must read “Footnote b” regarding how to deal with rulers when they are oppressive or when they give preference to others over you]

The people of Islam and the rulers of Muslims are obligated to abide by Allaah’s Sharee’ah in everything, and it is not permissible for them to deviate from Allaah’s Sharee’ah – neither towards the path of the east nor the west. (5)

Thirdly, one should thank Allaah for protecting him or her from the beguilement that has afflicted the hostile militant secularists – those who constantly attack Islam, seeking to give it a repugnant image and claiming that it is not suitable for Muslims! They utter this falsehood because Islam stands in their way whilst they seek to corrupt the worldly affairs and enslave the poorer nations through Riba and other unjust dealings. They know that Islam is the only perfect solution to all the problems if the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah are applied based on the understanding of the Prophet’s companions, and thus humankind will enjoy success in this life and eternal success in the afterlife. However, the spiteful ones amongst the militant secularists are drowned in beguilement. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming, so that he considers it as good (equal to one who is rightly guided)? Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad ) in sorrow for them. Truly, Allah is the All-Knower of what they do! [Surah Al-Faatir. Verse 8]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Is he who was dead (without Faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and Faith) and set for him a light (of Belief) whereby he can walk amongst men, like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out? Thus it is made fair-seeming to the disbelievers that which they used to do. [Surah Al-An’aam. Verse 122]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Is then He (Allah) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides, etc.) of every person and knows all that he has earned (like any other deities who know nothing)? Yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: “Name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something He knows not in the earth or is it (just) a show of false words.” Nay! To those who disbelieve, their plotting is made fairseeming, and they have been hindered from the Right Path, and whom Allah sends astray, for him, there is no guide. For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no protector against Allah. [Surah Ar-Rad. Verses 33-34]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so they wander about blindly. They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers. [Surah An-Naml. Verses 4-5]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad ). And We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health with calamities so that they might believe with humility. When Our Torment reached them, why then did they not believe with humility? But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitan (Satan) made fair-seeming to them that which they used to do. So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them to punishment, and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows. So the roots of the people who did wrong were cut off. And all the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). [Surah Al-An’aam. Verses 42-45]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:
تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ۬ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّہُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ۬

By Allah, We indeed sent (Messengers) to the nations before you (O Muhammad ), but Shaitan (Satan) made their deeds fair-seeming to them. So he (Satan) is their Wali (helper) today (i.e. in this world), and theirs will be a painful torment. [Surah An-Nahl. Verse 63]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies – Shayaateen (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception). If your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone with their fabrications.” [Surah Al-An’aam. Verse 112]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Allaah [Glorified be He] stated that they aid one another in opposing the command of the Prophets with what some of them inspire others of adorned speech, so that the gullible and feeble minded people are misled by it. He [The Most High] stated the reason behind a perpetrator’s [adorned speech] and the reason why it is accepted by the people; then He [The Most High] mentioned [in ayah 113 Al-An’aam] the effects it has on those ignorant souls. When those souls incline towards such adorned speech and become pleased with it, they carry out what it calls them to do -in speech and action. Therefore, ponder upon these verses and the sublime meanings they convey, for they clarify the roots of false principles and alert a person against them. And if you ponder upon the statements of the people of falsehood, you will indeed find them clothed with expressions and presented in a good light with sophisticated terms, which are quickly accepted by those deprived of sound discernment-to the extent that the wicked sinners would give [good] names to the greatest types of wicked deeds. Finally, rejecting the kufr (disbelief) of the militant secularists- their false beliefs and forbidden dealings – does not mean that they are oppressed, deceived and their rights violated; rather a Muslim behaves well in society. Therefore, we are free from the deeds of the terrorists (Khaarijites, ISIS, Al-Shabab and their affiliates) – those who act treacherously towards their fellow non-Muslim citizens and violate their covenants. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] reminded the Muslims living in the West as follows: “Likewise I invite you [i.e. Muslims] to have respect for those people who have the right that they should be respected, from those between you and whom there is an agreement (of protection) [i.e. Non-Muslims]. For the land which you are living is such that there is an agreement between you and them. If this were not the case they would have killed you or expelled you. So preserve this agreement, and do not prove treacherous to it, since treachery is a sign of the hypocrites, and it is not from the way of the Believers. And know that it is authentically reported from the Prophet that he said : “Whoever kills one who is under an agreement of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.” Do not be fooled by those sayings of the foolish people : those who say : ‘Those people are Non-Muslims, so their wealth is lawful for us [i.e. to misappropriate or take by way of murder and killing].’ For by Allaah – this is a lie. A lie about Allaah’s Religion, and a lie in Islamic societies. So we may not say that it is lawful to be treacherous towards people whom we have an agreement with. O my brothers. O youth. O Muslims. Be truthful in your buying and selling, and renting, and leasing, and in all mutual transactions. Because truthfulness is from the characteristics of the Believers, and Allaah – the Most High – has commanded truthfulness – in the saying of Allaah – the Most High – “O you who believe – fear and keep you duty to Allaah and be with the truthful”. And the Prophet encouraged truthfulness and said : “Adhere to truthfulness, because truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Paradise; and a person will continue to be truthful, and strive to be truthful until he will be written down with Allaah as a truthful person”. And he warned against falsehood, and said : “Beware of falsehood, because falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. And a person will continue lying, and striving to lie until he is written down with Allaah as a great liar.” O my brother Muslims. O youth. Be true in your sayings with your brothers, and with those Non-Muslims whom you live along with – so that you will be inviters to the Religion of Islaam, by your actions and in reality. So how many people there are who first entered into Islaam because of the behaviour and manners of the Muslims, and their truthfulness, and their being true in their dealings”. Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Indeed, you will see Atharatan after me and affairs you’ll disapprove; they [i.e. the people] said, ‘What do you command us O Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasaallam]?’ He said, ‘Fulfil their rights [i.e. the rulers] and ask Allaah for your rights’”. Atharatan: meaning- [some people will give precedence to themselves (i.e. spend wealth on themselves and engage in worldly enjoyment, but will not give others their rightful share)].

Al-Allaamah Zaid Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: This authentic hadeeth is related to the affair of the rulers- during the end of time – when they will give precedence to themselves through enjoyment of the worldly things and those under their authority will face harm, something of oppression and tyranny; so the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] guided and directed the people to fulfil the rights of the rulers; obey and listen to them in that which is good- whether it is during a time in which one is enthusiastic (to listen and obey them in what is good) or being lackadaisical, perform Jihaad behind their banner against the enemies of the religion, establish the prayer and behave in a manner obligated by the Islamic legislation. They should not rebel against the ruler just because he is a sinner or an oppressor, nor refrain from giving him the rights obligated on them to give him; rather they should fulfil his rights just as the Prophet  commanded them, saying, “Fulfil their rights”.

Therefore, the ruler has rights that should be fulfilled by his subjects and the subjects also have rights to be fulfilled by the ruler. It is obligated on the ruler to fulfil their rights and it is obligated on them to fulfil his rights. However, if he [i.e. the ruler] falls short in something related to their rights, it is not permissible for them to [deliberately] fall short in fulfilling his rights. And due to the great importance of rulership and the rulers, indeed the Prophet commanded them to fulfil the obligation of As-sam’i Wat-taa’ah [i.e. to listen and obey the ruler in good], refrain from disobedience[when commanded to do something good], supplicate to Allaah to make their affairs easy and change their state of affairs to that which is good, aid them to fulfil their needs and those affairs they cannot do without.

This hadeeth contains a miracle of the Prophet and that is the fact that he clearly stated that during the end of time, the rulers will give precedence to themselves with something of wealth and worldly enjoyment, and others will be deprived of it. Also, there will be affairs which the people of sound judgement will reject. When this era comes, it is obligated on them – those under the rulership of a Muslim ruler – to listen and obey in that which is good, fulfil the rights that have been obligated on them to fulfil and seek their rights from Allaah – meaning: they supplicate to Allaah to aid them in fulfilling their needs and facilitate them with ease in their affairs. And Allaah knows best. [At-taleeqaatul Maleehah Alaa Silsilah Al-Ahaadeeth As-Saheehah. Vol 1. Page 142. slightly paraphrased]
