[4] Ed Husain: Parroting The Word “CIVILISATION” Without Sound Distinction Between Misguided and Rightly Guided Ancestors

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

What is Civilisation? It is said to be “human society with its well developed social organizations, or the culture and way of life of a society or country at a particular period in time”.

Indeed, we constantly witness Ed Husain’s exaggeration and negligence whenever he seeks to defend freedom of speech just as we constantly witness the misguidance and extremism of the terrorists when they seek to confront those who violate the honour of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]. The terrorists utilize freedom of speech to promote violence and Ed Husain utilises freedom of speech to promote his false beliefs in the name of civilization, and to the extent that he praises the heretical philosophers who ascribe to Islaam as well as the disbelievers – Aristotle and his Ilk.

What a Sensible Person Should Pay Attention to Regarding Civilisation And Worldly Achievements

Indeed, the the worldly achievements of different nations in different eras means nothing if they were deviated from the purpose behind their existence in this worldly life. Allaah [TheMost High] said: [ وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ – And I Allaah did not create Jinn andhumankind, except that they should worship Me alone]. [Surah Adh-Dhaariyaat. Verse 56]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (saying): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).” Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). [Surah An-Nahl. Verse 36]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come unto them through hatred, one to another. Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Verse 213]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

[ وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةً۬ وَٲحِدَةً۬ فَٱخۡتَلَفُواْ‌ۚ وَلَوۡلَا ڪَلِمَةٌ۬ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِىَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ – – Mankind were but one community (i.e. on one religion – Islamic Monotheism), then they differed (later), and had not it been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, it would have been settled between them regarding what they differed]. [Surah Yunus. Verse 19]

Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, “There were ten generations between Nooh and Aadam – all of them used to be upon the true path [i.e. upon Islaam – worshipping Allaah alone], then they differed and started worshipping idols, false deities and images, so Allaah sent Messengers with clear proofs and evidences. (1)

Shirk first started amongst the people of Nooh when they exaggerated (the status) of the righteous people and turned away from the call of their Prophet [Nooh] out of pride. Allaah said that Nooh said that his people said:

[وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّ۬ا وَلَا سُوَاعً۬ا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرً۬ا – nd they have said: ‘You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa’, nor Yaghuth, nor Ya’uq, nor Nasr] (2)

Al-Bukhaari [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “It has been narrated from Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] that these were the names of pious people amongst the people of Nuh, and when they died, shaytaan inspired their people to (prepare) and place idols at the places where they used to sit, and to call those idols by their names. They did so, but did not worship them until those people (who initiated them) had died and the origin of the idols had become obscure, whereupon people began worshipping them. (3)

Blindly Following Ancestors In Misguidance: Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: And indeed, polytheistic [acts and beliefs] has become rife in this Ummah due to the people being distanced from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah; due to blindly following their forefathers without guidance; exaggerating the status of the dead people [i.e. either pious people or those whom they consider to be pious] and building [shrines and tombs over their] graves; and due to being ignorant of the [true] Islaam which Allaah commanded His Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] to convey, just as Umar Ibnul Khattaab [may Allaah be pleased with him] said, “Verily, the foundations of Islam will be destroyed one after the other when arises in Islam a people who do not know what Jahiliyyah is [i.e. the acts and beliefs that were prevalent during the pre-Islamic era]. (4) [NB: Refer to ref 4 at the end of this article regarding the term Al-Jaahiliyyah by the Shaikh Fawzaan]

(And likewise, polytheistic practices and beliefs have become rife in the Ummah) due to the spread of Shubhah [i.e. doubts that are made to resemble the truth but are falsehood in reality] and stories that have misguided the majority of the people. And among these [Shubhah- doubts made to resemble the truth but are falsehood in reality] is what the people of Shirk of the past and those within this Ummah at present utilise as proof – that they follow the path of their fathers and ancestors, and that they inherited this creed [i.e. polytheistic beliefs and practices] from them, just as Allaah [The Most High] said: Az-Zukhruf Ayah 23]:

[وَكَذَٲلِكَ مَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِى قَرۡيَةٍ۬ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتۡرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ۬ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم مُّقۡتَدُونَ – And similarly, We sent not a warner before you (O Muhammad) to any town (people) but the luxurious ones among them said: “We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps”]

Everyone who is unable to establish proofs for his claim returns to this proof, even though it is a useless proof that has no weight in the arena of [sound] discussion; for indeed those ancestors they blindly follow were not upon [upright] guidance. Therefore, whoever [is upon such a state of affairs], it is not permissible to follow him and take him as an example. Allaah [The Most High] Even though their fathers had no knowledge whatsoever and no guidance]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah’ Aayah 104]

The reply: “Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided?” [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 170]

Therefore, following ancestors is only praiseworthy if they were upon the truth. “And I (i.e. Prophet Yusuf) have followed the religion of my fathers , – Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya’qub (Jacob), and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to Allah. This is from the Grace of Allah to us and to mankind, but most men thank not (i.e. they neither believe in Allah, nor worship Him)”. [Surah Yusuf’ Aayah 38]

This doubt was embedded in the souls of the polytheists and they utilised it to oppose the call of the Prophets. “And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?” But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said: “He is no more than a human being like you, he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old. [Surah Al-Muminoon. Aayaat 23-24] So, they used as proof that which their ancestors were upon to oppose that which their Prophet Nuh brought.

“Do you (Saalih) now forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped?” [Surah Hud’ Aayah 62] “Does your (Shu’aib) prayer (i.e. the prayers which you offer has spoiled your mind, so you) command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship”. [Surah Hud’ Aayah 87]

“What do you worship?” They said: “We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted”. He (Ibraaheem) said, “Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? “Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?” They said: “Nay, but we found our fathers doing so”. [Surah Ash-Shu’araa’. Aayaat 70-74]

This is the essence of disbelief! Its people do not have any proof by way of which to repel thetruth except these flimsy proofs. (5)

Therefore, what has already preceded is enough to establish the fact that there is no virtue for the one who turns always from the purpose behind our existence in this worldly life and his worldly achievements will not avail him in anything in the Afterlife. Does Ed Husain and his ilk not ponder upon the affair of Fir’awn and his people whose achievements in this worldly life is well-known, but they will not be benefitted in anything in the Afterlife. “The Fire; they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon (i.e. whilst they are in their graves), and on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): “Cause Fir’aun’s(Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!” [Surah Ghaafir. Aayah 46] “How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) people] left! And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, and comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). And the heavens and the earth wept not for them , nor were they given a respite. And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, from Fir’aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins)”.

Ed Husain constantly – in the name of so called civilization- promotes those who sought to corrupt the religion of Islaam, such as Ibn Sina and his ilk amongst the heretics. Therefore, pay close attention to this beautiful clarification by Shaikh Shamsuddeen Al-Afghaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him], who stated: “Allaah [The Most High] guided mankind though Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] and though what he brought of clear manifest evidences and guidance-a guidance that could not be described by those who were proficient in giving descriptions and surpassed the knowledge of those with great perception. So, though this guidance that was given to the Messenger of Allaah, Allaah [The Most High] opened the eyes of the blind ones, the ears of the deaf ones and the hearts of the heedless ones. Allaah [The Most High] united them upon one religion-[the religion of Islamic monotheism; Ibraaheem’s [peace be upon him] religion of pure monotheism]-after they had been in complete disunity, enmity towards one another, upon destructive and corrupt creeds. Allaah united their hearts and they became true brothers in Islaam by way of this great blessing. And thereafter everything that was worshiped besides Allaah-such as graves, trees, stones, graven images, idols etc- ceased to exist and all worship was carried out for Allaah (alone).

The people followed the true Religion of Islamic monotheism; they worshipped Allaah alone and established worship sincerely for Allaah, except those whom Allaah willed that they were to remain as people of polytheism, hypocrisy and followers of the altered and distorted previous scriptures. The darkness of shirk was dispelled and the banner of Tawheed was raised in the lands-amongst the Arabs and non-Arabs. Allaah [The Most High] took away the soul of His Messenger, whilst Islaam was established and in authority-superseding all other ways of life and creeds. Then the rightly guided khulafaa of the Messenger continued upon this path until the two powerful and great nations at the time-Rome and Persia-ended up in humiliation, degradation and in a state of fear after they had been in a state of security, and thus Caesar was restricted and besieged, and khosrau was subdued and destroyed.

So when the enemies of Islaam saw that they were unable to do away with this religion, they implanted their disbelieving agents within Islam, who pretended to be Muslims in order to foment confusion, trials and tribulations; and in order to spread shirk by exaggerating the status of the pious people and exalting their graves with [beliefs and practices] that were not ordained by Allaah. So, this Ummah was put to trial through the plots of the [atheist, heretic and hypocrite] Abdullah Bin Saba, who claimed Uloohiyyah [i.e. the right to be worship] for Ali Ibn Abee Taalib [may Allaah be pleased with him]. Abdullaah Bin As-Sabah’s followers were known as the Saaba-iyyah, and later on they were known as the rawaafid (shiites), the ismaaliyyah (shittes), the nusayriyah (shiites) and other than them amongst the Baatiniyyah. They used to worship the graves and the dead, and they used to build places of worship and domed [shaped] shrines upon these graves. So, by way of this they revived the practices of the Jews and Chrsitians (i.e. those amongst them who deviated from the path of their Prophets), and the idol worshippers, and thus the practices of the worshippers of graves in this Muslim Ummah manifested itself in actions that were carried out by the rawaafid (shiites).

Secondly: The books of Greek philosophy that contained the ideas of grave and idol worship were translated into Arabic, so many of those who attributed themselves to Islam busied themselves with these books, such as the likes of Al- Faraabee (a) Ibn Sinaa Al-Hanafi (b)

Naseer At- Toosee the advocator of disbelief and shirk (c) and other than them amongst those who played tricks with Islaam, just as Paul played tricks with Christianity. They were influenced by the ideas of the Greek Philosophers, such as the creed of grave worship, so they became callers to grave worship through Greek Philosophy. The practices of these people was rife within the ranks of the people of rhetoric amongst the Hanafi Maatooreediyyah (d) and the Ash-ariyyah Kullaabiyyah due to busying themselves with the Books of the Philosophers; so they were influenced by the creed of grave worship. They became callers to grave worship and callers to the creed of the Jahmiyyah at the same time, such as the likes of Taftaazaanee Al-Hanafi [The Philosopher of the Maatooreediyyah and Grave worshipers] and Jurjaanee Al-Hanafi [a caller to superstition]

[a] Al-Faraabee: Al-Faraabee said that Philosophy is more perfect than Prophet hood. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said about him: ‘’Misguided; a disbeliever’’ Ibn Sinaa adopted his books and ideas of disbelief. [For further details concerning Al- Faraabee, See Majmoo Al-Fataawaa 2/67—86] [Dar At-Ta’aarud 1/10] [Ighaathatul Luhfaan 2/372-373].

[b] Ibn Sinaa: Imaam Ibnu Salaah (rahimahullaah) said about him: ‘’He was a devil amongst the human devils.’’ [See Fataawaa Ibn Salaah 1/209] [Also see: ‘Ar-Radd Alal Mantaqiyyeen’ of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah 278-279] [‘Ighaathatul Luhfaan’ of Imaam Ibnul Qayyim 2/373- 380] [Bidaayah Wan-Nihaayah’ of Imaam Ibn Katheer 12/43]

[c] Naasir At-Toosee: He was a magician and a minister of the Tartars. He rejected the ‘resurrection’. For further details, see: As-Sawaa-iq Al-Mursalah of Imaam Ibnul Qayyim(rahimahullaah) 2/790; 3/1077-1078

[d]Followers of the Jahmi Abu Mansoor Al- Maatooreedi Al-Hanafi [For further details, see the Book of Shaikh Shamsud-deen al-Afghaanee titled: ‘Al-Maatooreediyyah’ 1/205—376] [d]Juhoodu Ulamaa Al-Hanafiyyah Fee Ibtaal Aqaa- id Al-Qubooriyyah Vol 1 pages 23-24

Thirdly: A people appeared among the muslims manifesting asceticism. These people were more dangerous to the masses and more severe in misguidance. They were a people who appeared in the garb of the righteous, with tearful eyes smeared with kohl, long flowing beards, elevated turbans, carrying rosary beads and pretending to be calling to the sunnah of the leader of Humankind [Muhammad], whilst secretly practicing the disgraceful acts inherited from the false and vanished religions. And from their plots was that they used to mix manifest lies with the authentic explanations of the qur’aan and the authentic narrations in order to corrupt the clear proofs of the qur’aan and the sunnah. These deviant heretics were known as the holooliyyah, ittihaadiyyah Grave worshippers (e), such as the likes of al-hallaaj (309ah), ibnul faarid (632ah), ibn arabi (638ah), ibn sina (669ah) etc”. (6)

[Ref e: Hulooliyyah and ittihaadiyyah]: Hulool- Lit. “Entering” – Divine indwelling. The belief that Allaah dwells within a particular human. i.e. That Allaah dwells in a particular Soofi shaykh, a pious person, a Prophet – This belief is shared by Christians, certain Soofies, certain Shiites, Sikhs and others.

Wahdaatul Wujood – Lit – Unity of Existence. The belief that all existence is a single existence and everything we see are only aspects of the Essence of Allaah. This belief is also held by certain Soofies, Hindus and others. Those who believe in hulool say that Allaah dwells and is incarnate in human beings, High is Allaah above and far removed from that. This was openly called to by some of the extreme Sufis, such as al-Husayn ibn Mansoor al-Hallaaj who was declared to be an unbeliever by the scholars.

They ordered that he be executed and he was crucified in the year 309H. The following saying is attributed to him: “Glory to Him who manifested His human nature, Hiding the piercing brightness of His divinity: Till His creation saw Him openly, In the form of one eating and drinking” Attributed by al-Wakeel to the book at Tawaaseen of al Hallaaj (p. 130).

And his saying: “I am the one who loves and the One who is loved is me, We are two spirits who dwell in a single body. So when you see me you see Him, and when you see Him you see us both.”So al-Hallaaj was a believer in hulool and believed in the duality of the divine nature and that the Deity had both a divine and a human nature. Thus the divine becomes incarnate within the human so that the human spirit is the divine nature of the Deity and the body is its human form. Despite the fact that he was killed for his evil apostasy and although some of the Sufis declare themselves free of him, yet others count him as a Sufi, hold that his beliefs were correct, and write down his words. From them is Abdul-‘Abbaas ibn ‘Ataa al-Baghdaadee, Muhammad ibn Khaleef Ash- Sheeraazee and Ibraheem an-Nasraabaadhee, as is reported by al-Khateeb al-Baghdaadee. Wahdatul-Wujood, i.e. that all in existence is a single reality, and that everything we see is only aspects of the Essence of Allaah. The chief claimant of this belief was Ibn ‘Arabee al-Haatimee atTaa’ee, who was buried in Damascus having died in the year 638H. He himself says about this belief in his book al-Fatoohaat-ul-Makkiyyah: “The slave is the Lord and the Lord is a slave, I wish that I knew which was the one required to carry out the required duties. If I were to say the servant then that is true, or if I were to say the Lord, then how can that be required for Him.” AlFatoohaat-ul-Makkiyyah as it is attributed by Dr. Taqiyyuddeen al-Hilaalee in his book alHadiyyatul-Haadiyah (p.43).

He also says in al-Fatoohaat: “Those who worshipped the calf worshipped nothing except Allaah.” Quoted as Ibn ‘Arabee’s saying by Ibn Tayrniyyah in al-Fataawaa (vol.11), who attributes it to the book al-Fatoohaat. Ibn ‘Arabee is called ‘al-‘Aarif billaah’ (The one having great knowledge of Allaah) by the Sufis, and also ‘al-Qutubul Akbar’ (The great pivot), ‘al-MiskulAdhfar’ (the sweetest smelling musk), “al-Kibreetul-Ahmar’ (the reddest brimstone), despite his belief in wahdatul-wujood and other calamitous sayings. Indeed he praised Fir’awn (Pharaoh) and declared that he died upon eemaan! Furthermore he speaks against Haroon for his criticism of his peoples worship of the calf, thus directly opposing the text of the Qur’aan. He also held that the Christians were Unbelievers only because they made divinity particular to ‘Eesaa, whereas if they had made it general to all then they would not have been unbelievers. [Despite all the gross deviation of Ibn ‘Arabee and the fact that the scholars declared him to be an Unbeliever, yet he is revered by the Sufis and others who do not distinguish between the truth and falsehood, and those who turn away from accepting the truth even when it is as clear as the sun. But his books, which are filled with clear apostasy, such as al-Fatoohaatul-Makkiyyah and Fusoosul-Hikam are still circulated. He even has a tafseer, which he called at-Tafseerul-Baatin since he holds that there is an apparent and a hidden meaning for every Aayah, so the outer meaning is for the people of Ta’weel. From this group came Ibn Basheesh who said: “O Allaah rescue me from the mire of Tawheed, and drown me in the centre of the sea of unity, and mix me into the state of unity and oneness until I do not see, nor hear, nor sense except through it.” http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=8&Topic=3528

As for Ibn Rushd, Ed Husain stated, “Ibn Rushd’s greatest contribution to civilisation was not only that he refuted Ghazzali, but this great Arab philosopher found ways to reconcile reason and religion, two valid ways in which to seek truth. It was that method of reason and rational thought of Arabian philosophers that gave Andalusia eight hundred years of a booming civilisation, until 1492 when Jews and Muslims were expelled by Catholic monarchs Isabelle and Ferdinand. Ibn Rushd and the Muslims of Andalusia were descendants of Caliph Mu’awiya, the Umayyads. In the Muslim East, Arabs gave way to others to rule: ‘Abbasids, Seljuks, Mamlukes, Mughals, Ottomans. But in the Muslim West, Andalusia, Sicily and Portugal it was the Arabian spirit of Mecca that shone”. [End of quote]

In the above statement one can see that Ed Husain did his utmost to conceal the truth, so the naïve and gullible reader is easily made to think that Ibn Rushd was upon truth and that those who refuted him were wrong as well as guilty of attempting to close the Muslim mind! Then Ed Husain mentioned that Ibn Rushd is famously known in the Latin West as Averroes, as if his fame amongst Westerners would beautify his affair and conceal his clear errors; but rather what Mr Husain fails to realise is that he has exposed Ibn Rushd’s affair by mentioning that he is famous amongst Westerners! These Westerners are none else but proponents of Ibn Rushd’s errors and continue to praise him for preserving Aristotle’s misguidance for them. Ed says that Ibn Rushd considered philosophy to be Waajib! Subhaanallaah! Neither Ibn Rushd nor Mr Husain have a predecessor in this affair, as Imaam Maalik [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “May Allaah curse Amr Ibn Ubaid, for indeed he innovated this innovation from theological rhetoric (Ilmul Kalaam). If Ilmul Kalaam was knowledge, the companions of the Messenger and the Taabi’een would have spoken about it just as they spoke rulings and laws of the religion, however it is falsehood and leads to falsehood”. [Dhammul Kalaam by Al-Harawi. 5/73]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said, “He [i.e. Ibn Rushd] responded to al-Ghazaali, but a response in which he made many mistakes and what is correct was with al-Ghazaali. He attributed some of his arguments to Ibn Sina and not to his predecessor (Aristotle), and the mistake in it he attributed to Ibn Sina. And in some of his arguments he spoke ill against alGhazaali and accused him of having little fairness because he [Ibn Rushd] based his views on corrupt rhetoric”. (7)

Therefore, is defending the philosophy of deviant Aristotle a contribution to civilization?!Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said, “He [i.e. Ibn Rushd] was one who followed the statements of Aristotle the most”. (8) Read here about the deviant Aristotle – By Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him]: http://www.asharis.com/creed/articles/lxtuo-ibn-taymiyyah-compared-with-the-philosophersexposing-abu-adam-al-naruijis-acade.cfm

Al-Allaamah Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaami [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “That which no two people would differ about is that Ibn Rushd is a big and dangerous philosopher”. (9)

So, read on this link to see one of Ibn Rushd’s blunders as a result of his philosophy – a quote by Shaikh Abu Iyaadh from Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah: http://www.aboutatheism.net/articles/upniedg-the-universe-was-not-created-from-nothing-but-from-previously-existing-matter.cfm

Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Ilmul Kalaam is ignorance”. Imaam Abu Yusuf [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Ilmul kalaam is ignorance and to be ignorant of Ilmul Kalaam is knowledge”. (10) Imaam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “I am neither a person of Ilmul Kalaam nor do I recognize Ilmul Kalaam in anything. (I only recognize) that which is found in the Book of Allaah or in the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)”. (11) Imaam Ahmad also said, “Do not sit with the proponents of ilmul kalaam even if they defend the Sunnah”. (12) Yoonus Ibn Abdil A’laa (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said, “I heard Ash-Shaafi’ee (rahimahullaah) saying, ‘It is better for a man to be put to trial with everything that Allaah has forbidden except Shirk than looking into (or engaging himself in) ilmul kalaam; for indeed I have come across affairs from the proponents of ilmul kalaam that which I never thought I would come across’”. (13)

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] stated, “The knowledge of theological rhetoric is a corrupt knowledge and the Salaf- by way of consensus- declared that it is Haraam [forbidden] to study it due to the misguidance and disgustingly evil consequences within it. Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Neither does a dull-witted person benefit from it nor is an intelligent person in need of it”. An intelligent person is not in need of it because he is sensible in his self, natural disposition and intellect; and a dull-witted person does not benefit from it. Even if he studied all the books of philosophical logic, he will not benefit from it. Shaikh Albaani [may Allaah have mercy upon him] used to debate against the scholars of philosophical logic and they used to be like children in his presence, yet he never studied philosophical logic; rather Allaah granted him [sound] speech and [Sharee’ah] knowledge, and there is no proof stronger than the proofs of the Kitaab [i.e. the Qur’aan] and the [authentic] Sunnah. The people of philosophical logic are always defeated. By Allaah, regardless how much they [utilise] philosophical speech and how strong they are in philosophical logic, they are defeated [or overwhelmed] in the presence of the methodology of the Salafus Saaleh [which is] founded on the Book [i.e. the Qur’aan] and the [authentic] Sunnah. (14)

Callers to Misguidance and Shirk Will Emerge In This Ummah

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] stated whilst commenting on the hadeeth of Hudhaifah Bin Al-Yamaan [may Allaah be pleased with him]: “They [i.e. callers to the fire] do not say to the people, ‘Come to the hell fire!!’ They say, ‘Come to progression and civilization [as opposed to the old lifestyles] – development and conformity with the nations. Do not remain old fashioned and rigid’. The meaning of this is, ‘Abandon your religion and go along with the people’. These (people) are callers to the gates of hell fire- they call (Muslims) to abandon their religion and affiliate themselves to the disbelievers. This is the call to the hell fire because the hell fire is a promise for the disbelievers. They call the people to that which the people of hell fire are upon – the disbelievers, the idolaters and the atheists. How numerous are these callers in the Islamic World today! Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaah! Therefore, we must issue severe warning against them. Why? Because they call us to the hell fire, and Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] said about the disbelievers: [Those (Al-Mushrikoon) invite you to the fire, but Allaah invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave]. [2:221]

“He (i.e. shaytaan) only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the fire]. [35:6]

And the believer amongst the people of fir’awn said: “And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the fire”. [40:41]

And how did he call them to the Paradise and how did they call him to the fire? “You invite me to disbelieve in Allaah and to join partners in worship with Him of which I have no knowledge; and I call you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!” [40:42]

This is the difference between the callers to good and the callers to evil. Indeed, the callers to good invite to [the path of] Allaah- to His Religion and Paradise, and the callers to evil invite to the hell fire. [The callers to evil] do not say to the people, “Come to the fire!!” They say, “Come to Paradise, these are the actions of the people of Paradise, this is good, this is development, this is rectification, this is and this is….’’ and they beautify that for the people. Therefore, the Muslims must be cautious of these people. Indeed, they have become numerous in this era and Allaah knows best whether they will increase in the future. They might be facilitated with tools [of misguidance] which were not possessed by the previous callers to misguidance and are given firm support through such (tools), and this misguidance rapidly reaches the people. The suggestion of the seducer and the falsifier will be adorned and made to appear as something good to the people in any place, whilst it is something evil. This is the height of fitnah. [The Prophet said]: Whosoever responds to their call will be thrown into the fire. ‘’WHOEVER RESPONDS TO THEM’’, by complying, believing and assisting them, will be thrown into the fire. As for those who do not comply with them, oppose and openly reject what they are upon, then indeed they will not harm him. “And verily this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Muttaqoon (pious)”. [6:153]

The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) whilst explaining this ayah drew a straight line and said, ‘’this is the path of Allaah”. Then he drew lines to the left and right (of this straight line) and said, “these are the other paths, and on every path is a devil calling the people to it’.’ [Ahmad 1/435]

This is a description of the callers to misguidance- their methodologies and objectives. It has been thoroughly illustrated for us that indeed whatever opposes the Straight Path is a path leading to Jahannam, and whoever abandons the Straight Path is heading towards the Jahannam, even if he regards himself civilized, progressive and open minded”. https://salaficentre.com/2019/08/27/admonition-from-the-hadeeth-of-hudhaifah-people-used-to-ask-the-messenger-of-allaah-about-the-good-times-but-i-used-to-ask-him-about-bad/

The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘’You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you- hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered a lizard’s hole, you will also enter it.’’ We [i.e. the Sahaabah] said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Is it the Yahood and Nasaaraa?’ He said, ‘Who else?’” [Al-Bukhaari’ Number 1397]

The Most Honourable Amongst Humankind

Abu Hurairarah [may Allaah be pleased with him] narrated: “Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] was asked, ‘Who is the most honourable amongst the people?’ He said, ‘The one who fears Allaah the most’. They said, ‘We are not asking you about this’. He said, ‘Then the most honourable amongst the people is Yusuf, Allaah’s Prophet, the son of Allaah’s Prophet, the son of Allaah’s Prophet, the son of Allaah’s Khaleel’. They said, ‘We are not asking you about this’. He said, ‘So you are asking me about the Arabs’ descent; the people are of different descents and those who were best in the Pre-Islamic period are the best in Islaam, if they acquire [sound] understanding of [religious knowledge]’”.

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated: In this hadeeth, it is legislated for the one to whom something related to the religion is hidden that he asks, and the scholar is the one who is asked. The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] is the foremost teacher and the one who conveys the religion [ordained] by Allaah. His companions used to ask him that which they wanted to understand in order to act upon it. This hadeeth is proof [regarding the fact that] the companions of the Prophet asked about affairs related to their religion in order to acquire understanding of the religion. Knowledge- as it is said – is based on questions and answers. In this hadeeth there is proof [regarding] the virtue of Taqwah; “The most honourable of you in the sight of Allaah are those who fear Allaah the most”. Taqwa gathers every good, because it is clearly manifested in fulfilling commands, keeping away from prohibitions, declaring lawful what is lawful and declaring unlawful what is unlawful – inwardly [in one’s heart] and apparent [on one’s actions], and adherence to the [Qur’aan, the Sunnah, the Straight path etc].

In this hadeeth there is proof regarding the virtue of Yoosuf [alayhis salaam] and his fathers because the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] mentioned them. In this hadeeth there is proof regarding the humility of the Prophet because he made known to them the virtue of his brother- the noble Prophet – Yoosuf [peace be upon him]. In this hadeeth there is proof regarding the virtue of the Arabs if they possess understanding of the religion of Islaam and learn the religion, for indeed the noble Qur’aan was sent down in the language of the Arab, so if they acquire understanding of the religion [ordained] by Allaah, they will be able to convey it in Allaah’s earth. This is what happened in this Ummah of Muhammad, for indeed when he was sent, he called the Arabs to Eemaan until a great Ummah was established who were able to perform Jihaad and gave Dawah in the path of Allaah. So, they dispersed in the earth after acquiring understanding of their religion from Allaah’s Messenger and spread it in the regions of the earth- propagating, teaching, performing Jihaad and judging between the people, until Allaah [gave Islaam the upper hand] almost everywhere in the world through them, and this was a favour bestowed on them by Allaah. In this hadeeth there is proof regarding the virtue of Fiqh in the religion and that the one who acquires understanding of the religion [ordained] by Allaah – with a good intention- in order to remove ignorance from himself, act based on the understanding in the Islamic religion and spread it in the earth, then indeed he has a great reward and station in the sight of Allaah. And Allaah knows best. The evidence [or testimony for the main subject matter in this hadeeth] is that the people are of different descents. The best of them during the Pre-Islamic era are the best in Islaam if they possess [sound] understanding [in the religion]. Therefore, whoever was from the good people during the Pre-Islamic era and acted that way amongst the people, then Allaah blessed them to accept Islaam and they acquire understanding, they’ll be the best people because they had a good basis which Islaam increased in good and perfection. (15)

Finally, The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “There will not cease to be a group amongst my Ummah upon the truth; neither will they be harmed by those who betray them nor those who oppose them until the command of Allaah arrives [i.e. the day of judgement]”. [Bukhaari] Read here: https://salaficentre.com/2020/06/01/a-brief-reminder-regarding-at-taaifah-al-mansoorah-the-victorious-group-by-shaikh-fawzaan-and-shaikh-rabee/

Al-Allaamah Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbaad [may Allaah preserve him] stated: Cling to The Authentic Sunnah In Times of Differing The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “Verily he lives long among you will see a lot of differing, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafaa ar-Rashideen [the rightly guided caliphs]. Adhere to it with your molar teeth (i.e. adhere to it firmly). And beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for every newly invented matter [in the religion] is a bidah [innovation in the religion], and every bidah is misguidance. [Abu Dawood. Number 4607] [Tirmidhee. Number 2676]

(Also) the Messenger has clarified -in the hadeeth about the seventy-three sects amongst whom seventy-two sects will enter the hell fire and one sect will be saved-that the saved sect are those who adhere to the path him and his noble companions adhered to. Imaam Maalik [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “The latter part of this Ummah [i.e. those who will come after the Salaf] will not be rectified except by way of that which rectified it’s earlier part [i.e. the Salaf].’’ And he [rahimahullaah) said: ‘’Whoever innovates a bidah in Islaam and considers it to be something good, then indeed he has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the Risaalah (i.e. the message he was entrusted with), because Allaah said: [ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ – This day, I have perfected your religion for you]”. (16)

We ask Allaah to guide Ed Husain and protect us from his call to misguidance Aameen.

[Ref 4: What is Al-Jaahiliyyah? What is Al-Jaahiliyyah? Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: Al-Jaahiliyyah: It is derived from al-Jahl (ignorance). It is an absence ofknowledge, and the intent behind it is the state of affairs before Islaam. The state of affairsbefore the advent of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) is (referred to as) Al-Jaahiliyyah because they were in ignorance and misguidance in the affairs of worship, dealings, food, drink, marriage and other than that. They were in ignorance and misguidance due to the long period between Eesaa and Muhammad (i.e. the absence of a messenger). This was a period of over four hundred years during which the divine message stopped. The divine message was obscured, and ignorance and misguidance became widespread. The people worshiped idols, trees, stones, false deities, the Jinn and humans. They worshiped the Angels, the Awliyaa and the righteous people, and they were upon divergent paths with regards to acts of worship.
And with regards to the affair of halaal and haraam, they did not distinguish between good and filth; rather they used to deal with Ribaa. The Ribaa Al-Jaahiliyyah (The Pre-Islamic Usury) was: When they used to settle a debt with a debtor, they would say: “Either you settle the debt, or we increase the debt and double the time it (should be paid)”. This was the Pre-Islamic Usury and it used to be predominant in their dealings. They used to gather wealth through forbidden means– through pillage, plunder, robbery and devouring people’s wealth through falsehood. And with regards to food, they made dead animals and blood lawful; they used to eat dead animals, blood and repugnant things. And with regards to their relationship between one another, they used to kill and fight one another over the most trivial thing. They neither had a leader nor a state–they were either under the authority of tribal systems or under the authority of the Persians and the Romans. The powerful used to encroach upon (the rights of the weak), and the oppressor used to transgress the limits, and no one stopped him. This was Al-Jaahiliyyah (The Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance). They were upon ignorance in all aspects (of life) and the greatest of that (ignorance) was with regards to worship and creed. They used to be upon the creed of Shirk, rejected the (Resurrection) and the Divine Message (of the Messengers). (Allaah said that) they used to say: “Nothing did Allaah send down to any human being (by revelation)”. [6:91]

This was their state in Al-Jaahiliyyah (The Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance); then, Allaah (Glorified Be He) sent Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) with the Guidance and the Religion of Truth. “It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with Al Hudaa (the Guidance) and Deenul Haqq (the religion of truth -Islaam)”. 9:33]]

‘Hudaa’ is beneficial knowledge and ‘Deenul Haqq’ is righteous action. Allaah (Glorified Be He) sent His prophet with beneficial knowledge and righteous action, so because of the advent of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) Al-Jaahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) ceased to exist for ever walil-laahil Hamd, and knowledge and guidance arrived. The ‘Jaahiliyyah Aamma’ (The Pre-Islamic ignorance that was widespread in the world and touched every aspect of life) has ceased to exist; but it remains with some people or with some of the tribes, or in some of the lands. This is Jaahiliyyah Juz-i (a portion of Pre-Islamic Ignorance), (but) as for the ‘Jahiliyyah Aamma’, this has ceased to exist after the advent of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), but some characteristics of Pre-Islamic ignorance remain with some of the people due to the saying of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam): “Among my people there are four characteristics belonging to pre-Islamic period which they do not abandon: boasting of high rank, reviling other peoples’ genealogies, seeking rain by stars, and wailing (i.e. for the dead)’’ (reported by Muslim).” This remains, but it is a portion, (but) as for the Jaahiliyyah Aamma, it has ceased to exist. So due to this, it is not permissible to say that the people are in Jaahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic ignorance). Some (people) say: “(the people) are in a state of Pre-Islamic ignorance that is more severe than the one before the sending of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)”…. The meaning of this (statement of theirs) is a denial of what the Messenger (sallal-laahu-layhiwasallam) came with; it is a denial of the Qur’aan, the Sunnah of the Prophet and the abundant knowledge within our hands. Its meaning is that we are in Al-Jaahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic ignorance). This is a mistake, the people are not in Al-Jaahiliyyah, walil-laahil Hamd, but there remains some of the characteristics of Al-Jaahiliyyah in some individuals, in some nation states and in some tribes; but this is a specific Jaahiliyyah. Therefore, it is incumbent to be acquainted with this affair. https://salaficentre.com/2013/09/updated-the-people-used-to-ask-about-the-good-hudhaifahradiyallaahu-anhu/
