In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Most High] said:

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ

And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: “Verily, Allah commands you that you slaughter a cow”. They said, “Do you make fun of us?” He said, “I take Allah’s Refuge from being among Al-Jahilun (the ignorants or the foolish)”. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Ayah 67]

Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “A Jaahil (an ignorant man) is the one who utters speech that contains no benefit and he is one who mocks people. As for the sensible (wise) person, he sees that one of the greatest deficiencies in one’s religious adherence and sound reasoning is to mock a person who is a human being like him. And even if he has been favoured over him, this favour necessitates that he thanks Allah and shows mercy to Allah’s servants. Therefore, when Musa [peace be upon him] said this to them [I take Allah’s Refuge from being among the ignorant], they knew that it [i.e. what he commanded them] was the truth so they said: [ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِيَ -call upon your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is!] [1]

So the first thing Daniel is reminded of is that he has displayed his Jahl through mocking and foolish remarks. Second, a penguin is one of Allah’s wonderful creatures, and all creature glorify Allah, as Allah stated:

تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ ٱلسَّبْعُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا

The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein, glorify Him and there is not a thing but glorifies His Praise. But you understand not their glorification. Truly, He is Ever Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving. [Surah Al-Israa. Ayah 44]

[تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ ٱلسَّبْعُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ – The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein, glorify Him and there is not a thing]- Meaning, humans, animals, trees, plants, inanimate, living or dead], [إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِۦ – but glorifies His Praise]- Meaning, through their Lisaan Al-Haal [i.e. some of them do not utter that by way of speech, but they acknowledge and do within themselves] and Lisaan Al-Maqaal [i.e. some of them utter it by way of speech], [وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ – but you understand not their glorification]- Meaning, the glorification of all other creatures that do not speak your language, but the Knower of the unseen encompasses them all with His knowledge. [2]

Indeed, the penguin is among those animals that glorify Allah, although we don’t know how it does it, and there is no penguin on bidah or spreading bidah. Daniel, on the other hand, is from ahlul bidah, but wishes to be commended for following the Sunnah. Allah says:

لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أَتَوا۟ وَّيُحِبُّونَ أَن يُحْمَدُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا۟ فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّهُم بِمَفَازَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Think not that those who rejoice in what they have done (or brought about), and love to be praised for what they have not done,- think not you that they are rescued from the torment, and for them is a painful torment. [Surah Al Imran. Ayah 188]

Imam Al-Qayyim [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “They rejoice in what they have brought about of bidah and misguidance, and love to be praised for following the Sunnah and sincerity. [i.e. they want to be praised for what they do not deserve with regard to sincerity and adherence to the Sunnah]”. [3]

Third, even if it were appropriate to describe any Muslim as toothless penguin, this would be more beloved to a him or her than being attributed to Daniel and his ilk among ahlul bidah; rather, sitting next to pigs to socialise would be more beloved to Ahlus Sunnah than sitting to socialise with Daniel. Abul Jawzaa [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “That I should sit with pigs is more beloved to me than that I should sit with anyone from the people of desires (i.e. ahlul bidah)”. [4]

Regarding Salafiyyoon’s well-known stance on Palestine, only Daniel and his ilk among the obstinate liars would desperately want to twist the narrative. Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allah preserve him] stated in 2014: The Salafi Scholars state: “The Muslims should supplicate to Allah seeking His help & protection for the Muslims of Palestine. The Salafi Scholars stated: Muslims should make du’aa to Allah to give relief to the oppressed Muslims in Palestine from tyranny. Salafi Scholars state: The Muslims should aid the suffering Palestinians with humanitarian aid & medical supplies through proper channels. Salafi Scholars state: Palestine Humanitarian aid should be sent through registered or government organisations so funds are not diverted. The Salafi Scholars do not support the ideology & methodology of Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine or elsewhere. Aid the Palestinian people, Salafis should not donate to the Ikhwaani charity groups operating in the West who give support to Hamas. It was reported last week “Saudi King Abdullah ordered immediate assistance to the Palestinian Red Crescent worth more than $50 million. One can donate thru the Palestinian Red Crescent, a recognised and legitimate humanitarian organisation. Let us help the suffering”. [End of quote]

علامةُ أهل البدع الوقيعةُ في أهل الأثر

“A trait (or distinguishing sign) of ahlul bidah [the adherents to innovated creed, methodology, and devotion in religious affairs] is that they speak ill [by way of slander, falsehood] against Ahlul Athar [i.e. those who firmly adhere to the authentic narrations on Creed, methodology, devotion to worship and all aspects of religion].
