Arrogant and Increase In Sinning After Being Told to Fear Allaah- [An Evil Trait!]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you (O Muhammad), in this worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome of the opponents. And when he turns away, his effort in the land is to make mischief therein and to destroy the crops and the cattle, and Allah likes not mischief. And when it is said to him, “Fear Allah”, he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. So enough for him is Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest! [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayaat 204-206]

Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said: This is the state of many a person that when it is said to him, “Fear Allaah”, he is led by arrogance and then says, ‘’Am I a disobedient person; am I a criminal?! [Rather], you fear Allaah’’. But there is one who when it is said to him, “Fear Allaah”, he is shaken and what he holds in his hand drops out of fear of Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]. This person is from the people of piety and those who are truly acquainted with reality of affairs; but as for the second person, he is one led by arrogance, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought. He is led by arrogance to [more] sin and then would say, ‘’I have not done anything!” “What have I done to the extent that you tell me to fear Allaah?!”

[Therefore], we say to this person [i.e. the arrogant one], “You are not more fearful of Allaah than the Messenger of Allaah [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] and indeed Allaah said to him in the beginning of [Surah Al-Ahzaab] :[يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ ٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ   – O Prophet! Fear Allaah]; and in the final section of the Surah, Allaah said: [يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُواْ قَوۡلاً۬ سَدِيدً۬ا – O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth]. This includes everyone, even the Prophet [alayhis salaatu wassalaam].  [An Excerpt from At-taleeq Alaa As-Siyaasah Ash-Shar’iyyah. Shaikhul Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab: [A Brief Acquaintance With the Character and Personality]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Ubaid [may Allaah preserve him] said:

He [rahimahullaah (i.e. Shaikhul Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab)] was very clever; strong in discernment; hardworking in [affairs] of knowledge and sought after it; brave in [adhering to] truth and defended it. He manifested this clearly in his jihaad against ahlul bidah, even in a western land at Basrah he announced his rejection against bidah, so he was harmed and removed from there. Among his praiseworthy qualities and noble traits is that he had earnest concern for Allaah’s religion and ordainments, and thus he used to repel bidah. He was not able to keep quiet like others and this [deed of his] is from defending the statement of truth, even if it opposed the desires of the people. [Ref 1]

Shaikh Ubaid [may Allaah preserve him] said:

He [i.e. Shaikhul Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab (rahimahullaah)] was an Imaam in Tafseer and this is clearly manifested in his derivation of evidences from the Aayaat [of the Qur’aan]. He was a scholar of Hadeeth, so you find how he [utilised them] as evidence in their [appropriate] places. He was a scholar of Fiqh without blindly following [others] and it is enough that he was an Imaam in the fundamental [principles] of the religion and knowledge of the [affairs] of creed – Thaabit Fee Aqeedatihi As-Sunniyyah – Firm upon his Sunni creed [i.e. the correct Sunni Islamic Creed of the Salafus Saalih] and Shubuhaat [i.e. doubts that are made to resemble the truth, but are falsehood in reality] did not shake him, rather he used to refute them. [Ref 2]

Shaikh Ubaid [may Allaah preserve him] said:

And among the most important qualities of the Shaikh [i.e. Shaikhul Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab (rahimahullaah)] is that he gave importance to the citizens [of the nation] and acknowledged everyone’s status, and he did not neglect his dependents [i.e. those under his care]. He knew the status of the leader and the scholar. He knew the status of his students and gave them their [rightful] levels. He gave [close] attention to his children despite being preoccupied with Dawah, writing and teaching. This concern for his children was so much that after him, his children were from the senior scholars, rather among them were some who used to teach the Uloom [i.e. the different subject areas or sciences of the religion] during his lifetime. How can this not be the case, for back in the old days it used to be said, “This cub is from that lion [i.e. from the offspring of that lion]”. [Ref 3]

[6] Reflect And Sincerely Ask Allaah For Guidance – [Those Trapped In Soofiyyah and Grave Worship]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr [hafidhahullaah] said:

Ahlus Sunnah do not have a name, except (names whose meaning refers back to the) Sunnah.  As for ahlul bidah, they either ascribe themselves to the person who innovated for them a religion or they are ascribed to the bidah they innovated. For example: Jahmi, Qadariy, Qaadiriy, Rifaa-iy, Raafidiy etc.

Ahlus Sunnah’s ascription to the Sunnah [of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] is not a mere claim, rather it is an ascription based on reality. The claims of the (people) are numerous and if they are not established with proofs, then they are mere claims. Ahlus Sunnah do not have names, except names that return back to the Sunnah, such as:

‘Ahlul Athar’ [i.e. the people who cling to the authentic narrations of the companions and their followers].

‘Ahlul Hadeeth’ [i.e. the people who follow the authentic narrations of the Prophet (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) in every aspect of the religion and do not give precedence to any other thing over it].

Ahlul Ittibaa [i.e. the people who strictly follow the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet and the companions and they do not innovate in the religion].

Ahlus Sunnah [i.e. the people who follow exactly the authentic Sunnah and path of the Prophet (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam)  in every aspect of his life-in creed, statements, actions etc]

As-Salafiyyah [i.e. the path of the Salaf (The Pious Predecessors)- and they are the first three righteous generations of Islaam (a) Prophet and his companions; (b) then those who followed them exactly in creed, methodology and understanding in all affairs of the religion; (c) and then those who followed exactly the true followers of the companions. These are the first three generations of Islaam whom the prophet (sallal-laahu-alahi-wasallam) informed us that they are the best of generations].
