Allaah is the One Who Controls All Affairs – Shaykh Saalih Aal Ash Shaykh

“Many verses have come in the Qur’aan about Tawheed ar Ruboobiyyah (Singling out Allaah with His Actions) and knowing about Al Khaaliq (The Creator) and Ar Raaziq (The Provider)
The One who gives life and death, the One who gives and withholds, who debases and raises, He protects all while against him there is no protector.

Because the people, in this life, they believe or they may believe – Shaytaan (Satan) may come to them and cause them to believe – that everything is in the hands of mankind. No!
(Rather) the One in whose Hands is everything is Allaah! Alone! And Mankind are (merely) a means (for things to take place).
They may do (something) or they may not do (something). And because of this, if you see in the Qur’aan the mention of Allaah – The Glorified and Exalted – in an Ayah (verse) then repeat it.

For indeed it cures the stains of the Dunya (Worldly Life) in the heart (Meaning: The stains caused by the Dunya).”

Is The One Who Provides Suhoor For Needy People The Same As The One Who Provides Iftaar?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Question to Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah]: In Ramadhaan, one notices the concern people give to providing Iftaar for those needy people who observe the fast – whether it is in the Masaajid or the houses – in order to receive reward, just as the Messenger [Sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “Whoever provides Iftaar for a fasting person, he has reward similar to his” [i.e. reward similar to that of the fasting person]. However, we find big tables [i.e. with food and drink] at the time of Iftaar -in the Masaajid- but few people sit to eat, whereas it is very rare to find one who provides Suhoor for a needy fasting person. Therefore, is the reward received by the one who provides Suhoor for the people similar to the one who provides Iftaar?

Answer: I do not know of a [specific] exhortation -as an act of Sunnah- to provide Suhoor for the fasting people, and it is not possible to compare it to providing Iftaar. That is because the fasting person’s need for eating and drinking during Iftaar is much greater than his need for eating and drinking during Suhoor; therefore, we do not go beyond what has been reported in the Sunnah. However, whoever knows someone- from the poor people around him- who is in need of food for Suhoor, then the door is open in this affair [i.e. he can provide that person with food for Suhoor].

Received Numerous Admonitions Prior to Their Wretched End, But Their Hardened Hearts Prevented Them From Realising Their Evil State of Affairs: [Lessons to Learn From The Behaviour of Ancient Criminals]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] says that Fir’awn, his chiefs and blind followers said:

[ مَهۡمَا تَأۡتِنَا بِهِۦ مِنۡ ءَايَةٍ۬ لِّتَسۡحَرَنَا بِہَا فَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكَ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ- Whatever Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) you may bring to us, to work therewith your sorcery on us, we shall never believe in you]; meaning: They made it clear to Moosaa [alayhis-salaam] that they will not cease to be upon their false path. That is because- as they claimed-Moosaa [alayhis-salaam] is a magician, so regardless what he showed them, they will consider it to be magic. Indeed, this is a state of extreme obstinacy- when disbelievers reach that state of disbelief in which they care less whether clear signs have been shown to them or not!

Then Allaah [The Most High] said: [فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلطُّوفَانَ  – So We sent on them: the flood]; meaning: Abundant water that destroyed their trees and vegetation, and brought about extreme hardship; [وَٱلۡجَرَادَ – the locusts] that ate their crops; [وَٱلۡقُمَّلَ   – the lice]; [وَٱلضَّفَادِعَ  – the frogs] that entered into their springs in great numbers and caused them extreme anxiety; [وَٱلدَّمَ  – and the blood]; meaning: their drinking water was turned into blood.  [ءَايَـٰتٍ۬ مُّفَصَّلَـٰتٍ۬ – (as a succession of) manifest signs]; meaning: These were clear signs that made it clear to them that they have rejected the truth and are transgressors.  [فَٱسۡتَڪۡبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوۡمً۬ا مُّجۡرِمِينَ – yet they remained arrogant, and they were of those people who were Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.)]; meaning: After they saw all these signs, they were still haughty, so Allaah left them upon their deviation and misguidance.

Patience, Prayer, Firmness and Listening to Upright Scholars Required When Oppressors Become Extremely Oppressive: [Lessons to Learn From The Behaviour of Ancient Criminals Prior to Their Wretched End]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

[يَـٰقَوۡمِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓاْ إِن كُنتُم مُّسۡلِمِينَ – And Musa (Moses) said: “O my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will). [10:84]; Meaning: Place your trust in Allaah, return to Allaah by asking for steadfastness, aid, assistance, victory etc. Then Allaah [The Most High] says that Moosaa’s [alayhis-salaam] people replied, saying: [فَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةً۬ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ – They said: In Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers (10:85)]; Meaning: Do not allow them to overpower us and thus we are put to trial in the affairs of our religion, or that they are given victory and thus we are put to trial and they say, “Had they (i.e. the believers) being upon the truth, they would not have been defeated. [وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحۡمَتِكَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِين – And save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk. (10:86)]; Meaning: Save us from their evil, so that we can practice our religion in the correct manner it should be practised- by establishing its laws and being able to manifest it without being opposed or prevented.

Then Allaah [The Most High] says that He commanded Moosaa and Haaroon [alayhimas-salaam], saying: [ وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوۡمِكُمَا بِمِصۡرَ بُيُوتً۬ا وَٱجۡعَلُواْ بُيُوتَڪُمۡ قِبۡلَةً۬ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ‌ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ – And We inspired Musa (Moses) and his brother (saying): “Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as places for your worship, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give glad tidings to the believers].

So when the trial became severe and they faced increased persecution at the hands of Fir’awn and his chiefs, Allaah [The Most High] commanded Moosaa and Haaroon (alayhimas-salaam] to command the believers to take dwellings in which they can perform the prayer when they are unable to perform it their places of worship; for indeed the prayer is an aid in all affairs. And besides this, they were given glad tidings that they will be given victory and that a time is coming in which they will be able to manifest their religion; for ease will come after a period of hardship.

Oppressive Behaviour of The Criminals Reached Its Climax, So Believers Supplicated to Allaah For Safety: [Lessons to Learn From The Behaviour of Ancient Criminals Prior to Their Wretched End]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said that Moosaa [alayhis-salaam] said:

رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيۡتَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَأَهُ ۥ زِينَةً۬ وَأَمۡوَٲلاً۬ فِى ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِكَ‌ۖ

Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Fir’aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord! That they may lead men astray from Your Path(10:88)]; Meaning: Splendour by way of which they beauty themselves with various types of clothing, and likewise they have beautiful houses, riding beasts, servants and tremendous wealth in the life of this world, which they utilise to misguide people from Your Path- misguided and misguiding others.

Our Lord! Destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful torment. [10:88].

Moosaa made this supplication against them because they transgressed against Allaah’s commandments, corrupted the slaves of Allaah and hindered them from the path of Allaah. So Allaah [The Most High] said to Moosaa and Haaroon [alayhismas-salaam]: [قَدۡ أُجِيبَت دَّعۡوَتُڪُمَا -Verily, the invocation of you both is accepted]; This shows that Moosaa used to supplicate and Haaroon used to say Aameen to his supplication, and the one who says Aameen to a supplication shares what is within that supplication.

[فَٱسۡتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَآنِّ سَبِيلَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ – So you both keep to the Straight Way, and follow not the path of those who know not]; Meaning: Adhere to your religion and keep on supplicating. And do not follow the path of the misguided people – those who have deviated from the straight path and follow paths leading to the hell fire.

Mighty Threats, Delusions and Foolish Claims: [Lessons to Learn From The Behaviour of Ancient Criminals Prior to Their Wretched End]

In the name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah  (The Most High) said: [وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ – Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said] with haughtiness and tyranny, whilst deluding his foolish people; [ذَرُونِي أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُ  – Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)!] [Soorah Ghafir: Ayah 26]

This was his (false) claim that had it not been for his consideration of the wishes of his people, he would have killed Musa and that (Musa’s) supplication to his Lord would not have prevented him from that.

Fir’awn then mentioned what made him want to kill Musa and that he is a sincere adviser to his people, and that he wished to remove mischief from the land. Allaah (The Most High) stated that Fir’awn said: [إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ فِي الْأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ – I fear that he (Musa) may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!” [Soorah Ghaafir: Ayah 26]

This is the most amazing the affair can be! The most evil one among the creation gives advice to the people against the best among the creation. This is (nothing but) disguised falsehood and propaganda, which cannot seize except the intellects of those (people) about whom Allaah stated: [فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ – Thus he Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] befooled and misled his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).] [Soorah Az-Zukhruf: Ayah 54]
