It is obligatory to be wary of negligence and laziness (especially in Ramadhan). Take your portion of rest by way of sleep, there is no problem with that, as long as that does not cause you to be remiss with the (obligatory) prayers.
Do not allow your sleep to dominate your valuable time – the noble time of Ramadhan (due to the many blessings within it). Because it is possible that you will not reach Ramadhan again in other than this year (due to death) and thus you will be deprived of blessings and goodness (if you do not take advantage of your time now).
Shaykh Fawzan (hafidahullah) Al-Kalimaat Ar-Ramadhaaniyah – 1439
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Narrated Ibn Abbaas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa], “The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] was the most generous amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadaan when Jibreel visited him, and Jibreel used to meet him on every night of Ramadaan till the end of the month. The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] used to recite the Noble Qur’aan to Jibreel, and when Jibreel met him, he used to be more generous than the fair wind [sent by Allaah with glad tidings (rain) in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds]”. [Saheeh al-Bukhaari 1902]
Few Reminders From This Hadeeth
Zain Ibnul Muneer [rahimahullaah] said, “The intent behind the likeness [or comparison] between the Prophet’s [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] generosity and the fair wind, is that the wind is one of mercy which Allaah [The Exalted] sends and sends down rain that falls everywhere- both on a dead land [i.e. falls on a dry land and revives it] as well as the land that is not dead; [likewise] the Prophet’s [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] good conduct and benevolence benefits everyone – the poor, the wealthy and the one who has enough – more than the rain that falls [after the arrival of that] fair wind”. [An Excerpt from Fat-hul Baari Sharh Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. Vol 4. Page 150. Hadeeth 1902. Publisher- Daarus Salaam 1421 (Year 2000). 1st Edition). Slightly paraphrased]
Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahullaah] said:
He [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] was the most generous amongst the people with regards to wealth and giving to the people, and not that he was (only) generous after being asked. And in the final year [of his life], Jibreel met him twice and he finished the recitation of the [Qur’aan] twice. And from the benefits of [this hadeeth] is that it is more virtuous to study and recite the Qur’aan at night- studying it with the righteous people, the scholars and the good people. The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] recited [the Qur’aan to Jibreel] to receive Allaah reward. The Month of Ramadhaan will commence today from Maghrib and the first fast will be tomorrow insh’Allāh. We begin the Tarāweeh prayer tonight after the Ishaa’ prayer at 10:30pm. On Friday this will change to 10:45pm.
As a general reminder for those attending the masjid please park your cars 🚗 properly and safely within the car park and on the surrounding streets- taking care not to block driveways. Also as we are praying late it’s important that we are quiet when coming and leaving so as not to disturb our neighbours 🏡.
There will be security during the night prayer outside – Allah reward the brothers. However please still be vigilant as it is late.
The sisters side of the masjid will be open 🚪 for the Salah. And for the benefit of the all sisters praying, we will have the air conditioning unit on throughout the prayer. ✅ We advise sisters that if they cannot manage standing close to the AC (due to the cold) please move to another area of the musallah.

Alhamdulillah we have some good connections at the masjid with trustworthy brothers and sisters in various countries, where there are poor muslims in need. Places include Egypt, Nigeria, Uganda, Pakistan and more; and the brothers and sisters there, assist with this for Allah’s sake.
Each year we appoint those whom we know and trust to distribute some of this, and from it included Zakat al Fitr.. often times this is left a few until the last moment. “They are the 13th, 14th and 15th (of every Islamic month), these are the ‘white’ (days). Meaning, their nights are white due to the (fullness) of the Moon, and fasting these days are a recommended act.”

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad sallallāhu alaihi wa salam) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. (Al-Baqarah: 186)
Supplicating to Allāh whilst fasting is one of the times where supplications are most likely to be answered. This is because Allāh mentioned this verse within the verses of fasting. Especially since He spoke about it at the end of His speech regarding the verses of fasting.
Some of the scholars said, There is another benefit extracted from this verse: it is befitting to supplicate at the end of the fasting day, (i.e. before Maghrib, at point of opening fast).
This is one of the best times to supplicate, as the fasting person is weak and the weaker a person is, the more softer and open his heart is. This person is more likely to turn repentantly to Allāh and to lower and submit himself to Allāh.

Fasting makes it easier to perform acts of worship, this is evident from seeing fasting people compete and rush to perform good deeds. When not fasting, maybe they would have been lazy or found the worship difficult for them.
