The People Only See The Apparent, But Allah Knows The Inner Self

Abu Hafs  [rahimahullaah] said to Abu Uthmaan Al-Naysaabooriy  [rahimahullaah]: When you sit with the people, then be an admonisher of your heart and soul, and do not be deceived by their gathering around you, for they [are only] aware of what they can see apparently, whilst Allaah is all aware of your inner self [i.e. your heart, soul]

“They Thrust Their Fingers in Their Ears to Keep Out The Stunning Thunderclap For Fear of Death.”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunderclap for fear of death. But Allah ever encompasses the disbelievers (i.e. Allah will gather them all together).” [2:19]

Allaah [The Most High] likened the hypocrites’ share of the guidance to that of a person who did not receive any share of a rainstorm, except the darkness, thunder and lightning. He has no share of what is around that [i.e. water], which is the aim behind a rainstorm, such as the source of life it [provides] for the land, the people, the trees and the animals. The darkness, thunder and lightning is not the goal, rather it is a means to receiving the complete benefit from that rainstorm. However, due to the ignorance of an ignorant person, his observation is limited to the darkness, thunder and lightning that is found in that rainstorm, which also necessitates [the presence] of severe cold, disruption of the traveller’s journey and hindering a person from his work. He [i.e. the ignorant person] does not have that insight to make him realise the life that is brought [to the land, the trees, animals etc] and [other] general benefits. This is the affair of every short sighted and feeble minded person, whose observation of a tangible difficulty does not go beyond [what he sees so as to realise] the desirable things behind that difficulty. This is the state of affairs of the majority of the creation, except those who are given clear-sightedness.

A Healthy Body, But a Sick Heart – Ibn Mas’ood (Allah Be Pleased With Him)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Abdullaah Bin Mas’ood (radiyallaahu-anhu) said:

‘’Indeed, you see a disbeliever with the healthiest body amongst the people and with the sickest heart; and you will come across a believer with the most upright of hearts and the unhealthiest body. I swear by Allaah, if your hearts were sick and your bodies healthy, you will be more insignificant to Allaah than dung beetles.”

Poisoned Food – Ash Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq Al Badr

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Ash Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq bin Abdul Mohsin Al Badr (May Allah preserve them) wrote:

Have you seen if a man was afflicted with severe hunger and delicious food was placed in his hands and he extended his hands (to his mouth) to eat from the food; then it was said to him: “indeed it is poisoned, if you eat from it, it will harm you or destroy you”, will he place his hands in it (eat it) or will he refrain?

Subhaanallah!!

How can a person stay far away from (poisoned) food, fearing it’s harm!! And he doesn’t stay away from sins fearful of their punishment!!

May Allah guide us –

Shaykh Fawzaan: Whoever worships Allah with…..

Shaykh Fawzaan was asked:

Question:

What is the ruling on those who say: We only worship Allah with love for him and we do not fear his punishment and we do not desire his reward?

This is a statement of the soofiyah; it is an error and refuge is sought with Allah. This is in opposition to the methodology of (all of) the Prophets (alayhimus Salaatu was Salaam).

Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call upon Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us. [Surah Al-Anbiya’ Verse 90]

Those whom they call upon [like Isa (Jesus) – son of Maryam (Mary), Uzair (Ezra), angel] desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be the nearest; and they [Isa (Jesus), Uzair (Ezra), angels and others] hope for His Mercy and fear His torment. Indeed the torment of your Lord is (something) to be afraid of. [Surah Al-Isra Verse 57]

Therefore, whoever worships Allah with fear only then he is a Khaarij; whoever worships Allah with hope only then he is from the murji’ah and whoever worships Allah with love only then he is a Soofi.

And (finally) whoever worships Allah with Love, Hope and Fear then he is a believer upon Tawheed.
