The Story of Taraweeh – Day 5 Ramadhaan Reminders – Shaykh Fawzaan

From that which Allah has prescribed in this blessed month (Ramadan) the filling of the Masaajid for the Taraweeh Prayer in congregation. The Taraweeh Prayer is prayed in congregation in the Masaajid, this is the Sunnah (of the Prophet ﷺ ) and if he prayed it in his house then there is no harm but the Taraweeh prayer in the Maasajid is the best and complete, for it is the month of filling the Masaajid.

Holding the Mushaf in The Prayer – Shaykh Abdul Aziz Bin Baaz

What is the legislative ruling on a person who reads from the noble mushaf for taraweeh prayer in Ramadhan, or the night prayer outside of Ramadhan or the eclipse prayer, whilst a person is standing for the prayer and he has the mushaf with him and he reads the long chapters, which he was not able to memorise?

And when he prostrates he places the mushaf on the ground or a table which is close to him and when he stands he takes the mushaf with his hand and recites, and he does this until he has finished his prayer?

Is this also allows in the obligatory prayers?

Benefit us, May Allah benefit you.

Taraweeh in Congregation and Congregational Prayer in Last Third of the Night – Shaykh Baaz

If a Muslim prays with the congregation, in Ramadhan, the Taraweeh prayer and there is also a prayer in the last third of the night, then which of the two is better and takes precedence? To perform the witr with the congregation and make the witr even, or should he leave off the witr with the congregation and pray the witr in last third?

It is better to complete the prayer with the Imam as Allah legislated, because the prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said, Verily, when a man prays with the Imam until the imams (finishes) and departs, Allah writes (for him the reward) of (praying) the rest of the night.

And that is because when he (may Allah raise his rank and status) led the companions [in taraweeh], up to a third of the night some nights, and in some they prayed up to half of the night, they asked,

“O Messenger of Allah, (what) if we pray (more) optional prayers for the rest of our night; he replied Verily, when a man prays with the Imam until the imams (finishes) and departs, Allah writes (for him the reward) of (praying) the rest of the night.

This is what is better, that he continues with the Imam including the witr and if he prays in the last third the first witr suffices him, there is no need to perform a second witr, All praises belong to Allah, he would perform witr with the Imam and pray what he is able in the last third even number, (ie 2 by 2) without a witr, yes. As has preceded in the first question.

Questioner: If he prayed witr with the imam and then made it even and prayed witr in the last third?

Shaykh:
If he makes it even, then no problem… When the Imam gives the salaam, then he stands and adds a rakah to make it even and performs the witr in the last third, no problem.

However this could possibly become difficult for the souls and it might be feared that the person who does this could be considered to show off.

In conclusion, if he suffices with the witr (with the Imam), All praises belong to Allah it suffices. And if he makes it even then no issue, if he makes it even and performs witr in the last third, then no problem. And if he suffices with the witr and then prays in the last third that which is easy for him, 2 units of prayer, or 4 or 6 or 8 etc then no problem, there is no need for (another) witr the first witr suffices him. Yes.

VIDEO – Show Your Gratitude To Allah & Perform The Night Prayer – Shaykh Fawzaan

From the Video:

“Do you not feel ashamed in front of Allaah that you sleep the whole night and do not stand to pray to Allaah The Mighty & Majestic even if it be a short portion of the night whilst Allaah has blessed you, given you health and safety? “

The Prophet (sallallāhu alaihi wa salam) was Commanded with Seeking Forgiveness, so What About Us?

Shaykh Uthaymīn (rahimahullaah) explains al-Istigfār:

The author (Imām an-Nawawi (rahimahullāh)) completed his book (Riyādh as-Sālihīn) – this tremendously beneficial book which Muslims in all corners of the world benefit from (the layperson and the students of knowledge) – with istigfār.

Al-istigfār: means to seek forgiveness, and there is not a single person except that he errs, as the Prophet (sallallāhu alaihi wa salam) said,

“All of mankind err, and the best of those who err are those who repent.” (1)

And mistakes which occur from mankind, are either by way of shortcomings in the performance of an obligation or by the committing of a prohibition.

Mankind is not free from falling into these errors, however the cure of sins and shortcomings is al-istigfār (Alhamdulilāh).

And in an athar, it’s narrated that Shaytān said,

“I have destroyed the people with sins, and I have been destroyed by La Ilāha illa Allāh”

Seeking forgiveness is a means of (gaining) forgiveness, due to this, Allāh commanded with istigfār in many verses of the Qurān.

So know (O Muhammad SAW) that La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. (Muhammad: 19)

So Allāh (The Most High) commanded his prophet (sallallāhu alaihi wa salam) to know that there is no deity truly deserving of worship except Allah alone. And he commanded him with seeking forgiveness,

‎وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ

And this was the prophet, he who Allāh has forgiven all of his actions, yet he was still commanded to seek forgiveness.

Likewise, in many verses Allāh has praised those who seek his forgiveness;

‎وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالْأَسْحَارِ

And those who pray and beg Allah’s Pardon in the last hours of the night. (Āli Imrān: 17)

They are those who seek Allah’s forgiveness in the last part of the night.

The scholars said, that they are those who establish tahajjud and stand the night in prayer, worshipping Allāh, and regard themselves to be deficient, so they ask for Allāh’s forgiveness.

This is alongside the fact that they are from those who pray tahajjud and stand the night in prayer, and they seek forgiveness fearing their shortcomings, hence it is a must for people to be plentiful in seeking Allāh’s Forgiveness (The Mighty and Majestic).
