Benefit and Rulings from Sūrah Al-Hujarat Āyah 1 – Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz

Allaah (The Most High) said:

 يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger.” [Soorah Al-Hujuraat Ayah 1]

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said:

In this great Soorah there are lofty benefits and rulings. The Muslims are greatly in need of understanding (it), being conscious of it and take benefit from it. In the first part, there is a warning against putting oneself forward before Allaah and His Messenger. And that which is obligated on the People of Eemaan is that they are to be followers and not innovators, and that they do not put themselves forward before Allaah and His Messenger.

The people of knowledge say (that this ayah means): ‘’Do not speak until you are commanded by Allaah and His Messenger, and do not act until the Messenger acts and legislates; do not put (yourselves) forward before him with either speech or action, (but) be you followers of that which has been prescribed for you and that which has been made clear for you in the (Islamic) legislation. This is the way the people of Eemaan are to be -they do not innovate acts of worship and rulings in Allaah’s Sharee’ah.

And fear Allah. Verily! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing]

Allaah hears their statements and nothing is hidden from Him with regards to your state of affairs. He hears the statements of the slaves and He knows their state of affairs. He knows the truth you utter and other than it. He knows what you do, the truth you utter and other than it. The meaning of (this is that): Be mindful of Him and be warned about (disobeying Him) because nothing is hidden from Him. He hears and He knows your state of affairs. Therefore, it is obligated on you to be followers, and not innovators in Allaah’s Sharee’ah.

Ruling on following the legislated concessions – Shaykh Fawzaan

Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan was asked about those who follow the legislated Islamic concessions?

The religion is an amaanah- an amaanah between the slave and his Lord. It’s obligatory that he performs it (the religious duties) as Allah and his messenger have commanded. Whoever performs the obligations, leaves off the prohibited affairs, (does) that which he is able from the mustahabbaat (recommended actions) and abandons the makroohaat (disliked affairs), this is the amaanah between the slave and his lord.

The concessions are only allowed when there is a need and necessity (to utilize) them. Utilize them in accordance with necessity- with a need for the concession. Just like the sick person combines between two prayers, performs tayyamum if he cannot use water for purification and doesn’t fast in Ramadhaan, and a traveller shortens the prayers- this is a religious concession used at the time of its requirement.

As for using concessions in other than their correct place,(i.e. situation) then this is not permissible. Allah did not permit that for him (in such situation). Indeed He (Allaah) only placed the concessions at specified times and situations, and they are not used in other than these (times and situations).  Therefore it is obligated on the Muslim that he fears Allah and that he establishes that which Allah has obligated on him. Is Shisha Halal or Haram? – Permanent Committee of Scholars

Many of the Muslims young and old have fallen into the fitnah of smoking; and in recent times the fitnah of “Shisha” has spread exponentially, so much so we would be hard pressed if we did not know or know of someone who has not been affected by this evil.

And many are deceived by Shaytaan and attempt to make a distinction between smoking of cigarettes and shisha.

May Allah protect us from being deceived by the accursed Shaytaan and following our desires in opposition to the truth.

The Permanent Committee of Scholars said:

Shisha, hookah and smoking are from the khabaa’ith (evil, unlawful things) and they are haraam (prohibited), due to that which they contain of harm to the body and to the wealth.

And Allah the Most High said in description of his Prophet Muhammad

And He allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.)

Surah Al-A’raaf Verse 157

And it is affirmed upon the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) that he said:

” There should be neither harming not reciprocating harm”

Related by Ibn Mājah, al-Dārqutnī

Therefore it is impermissible to use these things, to sell them or to promote them.

Washing the dead – Shaykh bin Baz

Question:

What is the authenticity of the Hadith:

“whoever washes a dead person then upon him is to make ghusl and whoever carries the dead then he has to perform wudoo”?

And is this the command of obligation or recommendation? And why?

Answer:

The aforementioned Hadith is weak; and verily it has been affirmed from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in other narrations, that which indicates the recommendation of performing ghusl after washing a dead person.

As for carrying (the dead person) then it is not correct to make wudoo and neither is it recommended, owing to the lack of evidence in this regard.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Shaykh bin Baz

The Committee of Major Scholars On Imaam Albaanee

The man is known to us to (possess) knowledge and virtue, exalting the Sunnah and giving service to it, and aiding the Madhab of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa-ah in warning against bigoted partisanship and blind following, and his books are beneficial. However, he is just like others amongst the scholars, he is not infallible; he is correct (at times) and mistaken (at times) and we hope for him two rewards in what he is correct and one reward in what he is mistaken, as established from the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) that he said:

“When a haakim (i.e. a judge or scholar who has reached the station in knowledge making him qualified to perform Ijtihaad) strives to make a ruling and is correct, he receives two rewards, and if he makes a wrong ruling he receives one reward.’

Entering The Toilets With A Mushaf

Question:

One of us carries the Mushaf (copy of the Qur’aan) in his pocket and may enter the toilets with it; what is the ruling on this? Benefit us (with an answer).

Answer:

Carrying the Mushaf in one’s pocket is permissible, however it is not permissible for a person to enter the toilets with the Mushaf; rather he should put it away in a decent place out of respect for the book of Allaah; but if he is compelled by necessity to enter (the toilets) with it, out of fear that it may get stolen; then it is permissible to leave it outside due to that necessity (that compelled him to enter the toilets).  And to Allaah belongs all success, and may peace and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad (salla Allaahu alaihi wa sallam), his family and his companions.
