[1] With the approach of Summer, the flashy posters, so-called uncontroversial topics, and figureheads associated with Summer Conferences will not conceal the clear distinction between the true Salafiyyoon and others

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The well-known elder Salafi students of knowledge will assess whether these conferences and personalities are adhering to the methodology of the Salaf concerning rectification

Imam Malik [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “The latter part of this Ummah will not be rectified except by way of that which rectified its earlier part”. He said, “Whoever innovates a new thing (i.e. beliefs or an act of worship) in Islam and considers it to be something good, he has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the message he was entrusted. That is because Allah says: ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ – This day, I have perfected your religion for you]. Therefore, what was not part of the religion at that time [i.e. during the time of the Messenger] cannot be part of the religion today [i.e. after he departed from this world]”. [1]

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “This is a statement of Imam Malik, a renowned scholar known for his deep understanding and piety. Many other scholars have also reported this statement during and after his time, and they all unanimously agree that the latter part of this Ummah can only be rectified by following the same path that rectified its earlier part. This means that the future generations of this Ummah can only be rectified by adhering to the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], just as the earlier generations did. Anyone who seeks to rectify an Islamic or any other society in this world through means other than the path and practical steps followed by those who came before is mistaken and has spoken untruth. There is no other path to rectification except the path of the Messenger and his companions. The only way to achieve rectification and righteousness is by following the footsteps of our Prophet and his noble companions, and those who faithfully follow them in righteousness until our present time”. The well-known elder Salafi students of knowledge will assess whether these conferences and personalities are allied to some of the affiliates, figureheads, or factions amongst Ahlul Bidah

Umar [may Allah be pleased with him] said, The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said: “People were (sometimes) judged by the revealing of a Divine Inspiration during the lifetime of Allah’s Messenger but now there is no longer any more (new revelation). Now we judge you by the deeds you practice publicly, so we will trust and favour the one who does good deeds in front of us, and we will not call him to account about what he is really doing in secret, for Allah will judge him for that; but we will not trust or believe the one who presents to us with an evil deed even if he claims that his intentions were good”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. Number 2641]

Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu) said, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “A person is upon the religion of his friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends”. [As-Saheehah: 97] Ibn Mas’ ood (radiyallaahu-anhu) said: Indeed a person walks alongside and accompanies the one whom he loves and who is like him. (Al Ibaanah 2/476] Al A’maah (rahimahullaah) said: They (the Salaf) did not use to ask anything more about a person after having asked about three affairs: Who he walks with, who he enters upon (i.e. visits) and who he associates with amongst the people”. [Al Ibaanah 2/478] Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (radiyallaahu anhu) said: Make consideration of the (regions of the) earth by the names given to them and make consideration of a person by his companion”. [Ibaanah 2/497] Mu’aadh Bin Mu’aadh said to Yahyah bin Sa’eed, “Yaa Abaa Sa’eed! A person may hide his viewpoint from us, but he will not be able to hide this in his son or friend or in one whom he sits with”. [ Ibaanah 2/436] [Translated by Spubs]

The well-known elder Salafi students of knowledge will assess whether the Aqeedah and Manhaj of the organisers of these conferences and the participants are based on the books of the pious predecessors

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] said, “All of you grasp onto the Rope of Allah – Allah will support you in this and elevate you like the sun; return to the understanding of the righteous predecessors, and it is, as I mentioned earlier, transmitted in your presence. This is a challenge to those who oppose this. We are challenging the people of Bidah and vain desires in their beliefs and politics. We affirm that between us and them stand the pious predecessors and their books. [Imam] Ahmad used to say to the proponents of religious innovation, “Between us and you are the funerals [i.e. those whose funerals will be attended by a large number of Ahlus Sunnah].” At present, we say, “Between us and you are the books of the pious predecessors. The books are available! Allah said to His Messenger: [قل فَأْتُوا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ فَاتْلُوهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ – All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel made unlawful for himself before the Taurat (Torah) was revealed. Say (O Muhammad ): “Bring here the Taurat (Torah) and recite it, if you are truthful”].

We present the books of the righteous predecessors – the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the works of Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasaa’ee, and those authored by Ahmad and others; we present them to demonstrate those following the path of these predecessors and those who oppose them. Just as Allah challenged the Jews to produce the Torah, and it was produced, exposing them, we challenge these individuals to produce the books of the righteous predecessors, to reveal the innovators in religious matters, and to distinguish between the deviants – whether it is us or them. Are they capable of accepting this challenge? Can they speak up in this manner? We challenge everyone who says that we are upon other than the path of the righteous predecessors. By Allah! We call to the methodology of the pious predecessors – following the Quran and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger. We use the Quran and Sunnah to support our beliefs, worship practices, interactions with rulers and their subjects, and when dealing with the groups and sects. In contrast, others resort to deceit and manipulation. By Allah! All you will find with them are schemes and exploitation of the youth. [3]
